The Grundy/Pistols interview is legendary. Still amusing all these years later.
It's disgusting that the BBC scapegoated Tony Blackburn, when you consider what Jimmy Saville and Dave Lee Travis were up to. Besides the BBC had a bar in Television Centre, which meant many employees were often drunk, including DJs working of TOTP. 🙄
I remember the Grundy interview.

So Have I Got News For you. It was a case of credibility as he was there to ridicule others. So ultimately his role was untenable as there was no way he could criticise others with this hanging over his head.
Ultimately his own fault but I never really cared one way or the other.
Clarkson, you've always got GB News as an option (at least you will for now). Seems more your speed (since only 10 people are watching at any time) than mainstream TV
Well for 1 Clarkson isnt dropped from either Amazon OR ITV and has 2 number 1 shows lol. And GB news gets more viewers than all news shows on mainstream TV!

It was the Bill Grundy episode with the Sex Pistols I remembered so well. I was 16 and had just got in from work, turned on the tv and what! The SP's were swearing on tv!!! It was unknown and unimagined. I remember feeling so shocked. I was pleased if only because I just could not stand Bill Grundy. But I really believe it was the start of a more liberal and realistic attitude towards language on television and radio in the UK.
So The Jeremey Kyle Show was the UK's Jerry Springer Show?

Basically yes. But there were allegations of exploitation and abuse of the guests in addition to the death of participants too. If you read into the background of the show, and the allegations surrounding it’s cancellation, it doesn’t paint a good picture at all.
Except. Jerry Springer used to stand amongst the audience whilst asking questions. He left the fighting to the audience. He never lost his temper, or ridiculed the audience. Unlike Jeremy Kyle. Jeremy Kyle used to coach the audience into fighting. Jerry Springer never did that. No you’re wrong @ThornIOSociety, The Jeremy Kyle Show is nothing like The Jerry Springer Show at all.
worst, i mean the shows were about the same, jerry was more scandalist laden show but as a person, Jeremy was/is scum.
Well I'm sorry but nobody forced them to go on the show? They had to send all their details in, go through interviews etc, and chose to go on the show knowing what Jeremy Kyle was like.
