This film is brilliant. It's not about Islam, it's about bullying, control, power, corruption and poverty. Anyone who has experienced bullying and pressure to conform to the narrative of society can relate to this.
No one tries to force Muslims to accept listening to Quran with the music, it is not the message here. The director is not forcing to establish a new rules in Islam. Why do you think that way? This is a movie which depicts Islam world in a far brighter way than most western movies out there. Just watch it.
I'm grateful this scene has been posted. I couldn't hold back tears in the movie theater. His recital moved me deeply ❤
Such an aethereal godly voice, he clearly 'won' but all he had to do was be a good channel. Also beautiful moment when he knew Adam had framed him but didn't report him. Incredible movie, even though it's set in Egypt in the context of the most esteemed Islamic university in the world, the themes are globally relevant. It gives an experience of the potential corruption & infiltration of religious groups by government & ulterior interests in order to influence the population. There's also themes of ethical choices, family, sacrifice, exploitation, hope & human nature. Great acting, suspenseful & visually intimate. Is religion the illegal arm of the government? A bold, daring, thought provoking philosophical film.

What’s amazing about Quran poetry is that without any sound except the words of one’s tongue is one of the most beautiful sounds ever, and it drills directly to one’s heart ❤️

the premiere is on November 9. Till then it will be almost impossible to find the movie online. But I wishh you luck and if you find it please send it to me because this one is good.

I just saw it at a film festival a few days ago so that’s probably the only place you can see it currently. Film festivals typically air films before they’re released anywhere else.

A bit of poor production that doesn’t really reflect Al Azhar in reality.. most of actors has some sort of accent which is not pure egyptian, story itself is a bit off, and most of the shots are close up due to the fact it was filmed in Turkey not in Egypt.. Al Azhar is such a huge organization with massive buildings, here it looks like a slum. The only part I liked about this film is this part of this guy reciting with amazing voice, aside from this , I give the movie 5/10 .For non egyptians, this could be an interesting film to watch as international film.
