Awesome video! More like it please. This knowledge is golden.
This is an amazing video. I need to get a dust collection set up for my grinders. Thank you for all the tips
Awesome I really appreciate that!
You really dropped this video right when I want to upgrade my shop :D
Thanks 😄✌
lol perfect timing!
Great video! Love the hose thingy.
Thank you! 👊👊
This is great! I know that when my workshop is dirty I don’t enjoy being in there. I’m going to pick up a shop vac soon
It’s definitely a good start! Thanks for watching!
Nice shop
Thank you!!
I always use a vacuum but it is not the greatest solution. Luckily i have a grinding room
which i clean out once a month. But G10 Dust gets literally everywhere
G10 dust is the worst!
As long as you put water in that catch bin, You can use it for both metal and handles. I made the stupid mistake of not adding a 1/2" of water, and got stuck with a smoldering ember that could've burned my house down.
Dang! Good to know!
This is the same setup I have been running. Cyclone and dust bag. Even run a hepa filter on the shop vac to further filter everything out. That would help you with the smell you talked about.
Oh good tip! I’m still running the factory filter on it
Great ideas . Great setup . Thanks for sharing..
Thanks buddy!!
Thanks for sharing health & safety tips. Here are a few of my insights.
- I use large magnets on & around my grinders to collect metal dust.
- Higher levels of air-speed at the inlet by using smooth tubing.
- Use long sweep elbows can cut air-speed loss in half.
- Keep flex hose to a minimum to maximize system air-speed.
- A cheap air-speed meter takes much of the guess work out of system design.
Awesome tips thank you!
Hello, Matt! Can you make a video of how you shape and finish your handles especially for the Muk series. Respect!
I can do a new one sometime soon! I have one from a couple years back here on CZcams.
Love the new shop man! This is the first ive seen of it!
Thank you! I put up a full tour video on it a couple months ago! 👊👊
Flexible hoses are great for collecting dust, I also bought similar ones for myself!
I love those things! I’m thinking about adding one for the band saw too
Mag numatic sells a spark arrester dust collector for metal. They run around 750$
I’ll check that out!!!
Thanks for the video. Very timely as i am looking to set up for dust collection👍
Well hopefully it helped out in some way! Thank you for watching!
Looking forward to the videos this year 👍 I really love your channel it's one of my favorites
I really appreciate that! Thank you for the support!
Mat I was waiting on you to mention that you want to use vacuum bags with the shop vac I also had this problem when I just used the dust separator that fine dust would clog up the filter.. thanks for tips
The bags definitely make a huge difference!
I just ordered the Loc line hose last week. It should be here on Monday!!! The dust separators are great. I thought a while back you had purchased a WEN air cleaner. Was it ineffective?
Yes I have the smaller wen air cleaner but haven’t hung it in the shop yet, I need to find the remote for it so I don’t need a ladder to turn it off and on every day lol. It works OK but not a huge game changer
Great topic and very good suggestions. As for the metal grinding, I’ve seen people use galvanized ductwork to capture the dust. It seems if you have about 6 feet of metal duct, the sparks cool enough to transition to plastic. However most of them have a dedicated dust collector that goes into a steel barrel. I know about the smallest duct you’ll find is 3 inch so you’ll lose some suction with the 2-1/2 inch shop vac hose. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the tip I’ll look into that!!
What is the size of your shop?
16x32 exterior dimension
Those loc line hoses look awsome, thanks for sharing! Can you add or remove links for a custom length?
Yes!
