Wow didn't realise the videos age, madness
Are you SquishyMuffinz??!!?!
Getting really tired of sitting in class for 2 weeks to learn the same exact shit this man taught me in 10 minutes.
Kai Dunn 😂😂😂😂😂😂 IKR?!
Kai Dunn same
It's not the classes fault. It is how you take information. Obviously you haven't learned to learn in a classroom setting.
@@vossboss220 Didnt expect to see you here
@@That_One_Guy... Oh hello.... have we met before?
Thanks, I learned more in 9 minutes than an entire 1hr and 30min session! Honestly who ever owns Khan Academy needs to be knighted.
Sal Khan his name has 4 degrees i believe
Thanks a lot I thought it was a very difficult topic but it was so easy with u teaching

what type of sorcery is this?
got a better understanding of logs in 2 minutes than in 1 hour of math class
+Wilfredo Chavarria
It is because teachers make you learn slower step by step so you can understand better (doesn't even work). They give you a work sheet on a step and slowly explains to you about the subject, then you have to jot down the things the teacher says. The teachers sometimes make it hard for you to understand and jotting down the steps might not help, sometimes the steps don't even make sense to you. The school system is messed up.
The video that we watched is clear, with good illustrations and explinations. There is no way to get confused since the video uses different techniques to teach the viewers.
my profs go through literally four sections in two hours going as fast as they can and then give you a test every week until you're done.... sometimes they dont' even do examples, they only have you write the mathematical definition (that's a paragraph long) so you can "understand" it. It's insane.
He's very smart. And a good teacher. He gets the BIGGER PICTURE, which is the most important part. Getting the BIGGER PICTURE allows you to explain its components well.
HE’S THE HIGH PRIEST OF CALCULUS
maybe because you didn't pay attention in school... kid will learn when they want to learn
The Khan Academy is the greatest thing ever. I was absent from school and my teacher spends 2 days on logs. You spent less than 10 mins and you gave like a million examples until I finally understood this. The creator of Khan Academy and the guy from this video need to take a bow!
+Evan The guy in the video is (from my understanding) the leader of Khan Academy and is called Salman Khan, but students (including me) at Khan Academy call him Sal for short.
Which schl takes logs ?

There are several videos on exponents that cover this. Didn't want to rehash something covered in previous videos. My apologies if you found it confusing.
Confusing? This was really good! Thanks for it, it even benefits me now!
Love it
literally helping me 13 years later
you teach me so much, more than all the teachers ive had combined
You explained it better than my tutor who has an engineering masters degree
Can’t believe this video came out when I was a toddler and now I’m using it in a college calculus class. Thank you so much for what you do.
bro i wasnt even alive back then
Wait, my parents didn't even meet yet when this came out.
I love watching old videos like this and noticing the gradual rise in resolution.
The real mark of good content is when you see something in recorded in 240p still getting views 14 years later.

Because companies want to see that piece of paper that means you went through the employee factory and passed.
+Thaddeus3rd its sad how the education system works these days.they value a piece of paper over actual skill.
ikr
Because, at least of what I know, is that maybe you can learn something in 15 minutes but you won't cause you wouldn't know that exists or like me procrastinate for search it
Thank You! I'm in my mid 50's and never understood logarithms until now. Made me smile like a kid in school finally understanding something.
thats adorable! may you live long sir :D
This was extremely helpful because it feels like the teacher is a guy who just mastered logarithms and is trying to explain it to his classmates, while the academic teaching explains it as if every student is a maths Ph.D.
I NEVER understood Logarithms before and failed pretty much all questions on Logarithms but you sir explained it to us in one video and i understood everything.
I think school should be online now.
Amit Bashan I agree, this comment did not age well

I honestly would not have passed algebra 1 and 2 without you. I sincerely thank you.
Max Clarke What are you doing now? Any math?
I know right that's so amosinal
So let me get this straight .... my teacher explains this for maybe 2 weeks and is slow as heck and her self doesnt know how to solve logarithms and i learn nothing from her ....but only in the first 2 minutes i learn what logarithms is ...... Wow the education system in sweden is really messed up....
sephorastar13 Which is better than Australia
sephorastar13 its funny that a 'third world country' such as Jamaica has a better education system (which is similar to the English system) than America's
Brian Bailey cuz we islanders got it goin on yo
Brian Bailey I'm saying... Went to a Jamaican high school for two years and moved to America and the difference between both education system is night and day... Teachers are actually committed to teaching in Jamaica while some here only do it for the pay check.
Better than my teacher, briefly mentions this topic for one day, gives us many pages of homework without explanation and oh yeah. We get a heavily weighted test the day after.
This is a golden video very important that it can save one's life from being a dumb person to a clever one 😅. Love you man
Ooh so this is basically kind of like dividing exponents.

MYYYYYYY EARSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
30+ years since dealing with logs and trying to re-learn it. YOU made it so simple. Thanks!
Another phrase that can help is to remember "A little to the right is the middle" it helps because it rhymes, and it means that the little number (in size, not value, so the base) to the power of the number on the right equals the middle number. Hope this helps as well, and amazing video! :)
16 years later and this video is STILL saving lives mate 😩 God bless you. (I was playing with dolls when this video came out 😂 but here i am now)
i have a quiz on this tomorrow i crave for sweet sweet death
welcome to life
maxine I thought you will learn this in 2nd semester
Same here how’d u do?
it's actually way simpler than square/cube roots, because you have the base number already given to you. you can just keep multiplying the base number times itself until you get the second number (the answer that was given) and then once you get to that number, just count up how many times you multiplied the base number times itself and that's your answer
OMG ME TOO
This kind of content makes me very grateful because I’m trying to help my sister understand this and not even I did but now after watching this it makes sense. I can’t stand seeing her fail and this will help so much I literally can’t put into words how appreciative I am of this.
Can you please be my teacher? Reviewing this from years ago just for the fun of it, and wishing this video was out when I needed help. Excellent explanation!
No
Defining the base in this lesson was the part that clears up the mystery of logarithms. Too many math teachers can't get that simple concept into the heads of students. Way to go Sal.
The video of 16 years ago,but still teaching me clearly..😮...Just wow !! Thanks man..🎉🎉🎉
LOL im watching this an hour before my final XD

You are a legend! I finally understand logarithms after all these years from watching a nine minute video. Thank you so much.
This was the best explanation I have ever heard for logarithms. Until my moment watching this, I was still unsure of what was going on. Thank you for taking the time to share this. I understand this very easy concept now.
Khan, your videos have seriously gotten me through college.. I feel like I'm wasting my money sometimes on a degree because I end up learning EVERYTHING from you anyways! I know you are a very busy man these days but a lot of these videos could use an HD update, even if the same audio and examples were used. Just a thought, love the videos. You're my hero. Thank you
NO STUPID TEACHER TAUGHT ME THE RELATIONSHIP OF LOG WITH EXPONENTS BEFORE
Never in all my years of math had any teacher ever clearly said Log is the inverse of exponents. As soon as you said that all the dots connected in my mind.
I'm currently a freshman and I'm in independent studies that's equivalent of Algebra 2 (we call it something else since it involves common core standards as well.) But basically I did Algebra, but my middle school held me back (common core) and I couldn't take full geometry in 8th. I now take the rest of the requirements in class and the Algebra 2 class afterschool so I'm not completely held back. I don't have parents or siblings able to help me so I have to lean from videos like these. I appreciate the simplicity and yet thorough explanation in these videos. They've helped me a lot, thanks guys!

It's a video uploaded on the day I was born, and I'm watching it now. I think I should have known a little earlier. It will be helpful for the school class. Thank you.
For me to understand easily, I have to think that we human invented this, and in many situations, for example, we need to find out to what power of 4 will reach 64, so that’s how this “logarithm” was invented.

Stop, what you said was extremely bad
I've seen "log" come up on my calculator often and wondered what it meant. Today I randomly remembered that and looked up "what is log" on CZcams and came across this video. 😂
It's funny because at school at the moment we're doing exponents and different types of roots (4th root, 3rd root, etc.) and logarithms are actually really similar, just expressed slightly differently! Wonder why we haven't covered them at the same time lol
For real bro, I'm in 8th grade and I thought this would be way harder lol

Thanks to Mr. Khan, I've learned to take the path of least resistance. He has taught me this. The problem is that if one is not alert, the mind automatically decides to take the path of MOST resistance. By the time one realizes it, much time has been wasted.
