    I just purchased a good example of a 2015 GLK350 4MATIC (58K miles), and it’s a great car, however, I had had it only 2 days when the little sliding door in the center console jammed shut! It will only open an inch or so, and there is no obvious way to get at it to do a repair! It’s a stupid little thing, but my shop isn’t sure how to get in to fix it. It looks like this one little item could cost hundreds to over $1K to fix… OTHERWISE it seems to be, as it is reputed to be, a great car.

    I bought a 2011 GLK 220CDI 4matic. I have only had it a few weeks, ans so far it drives great and feels like a really solid car. I like the styling of these these cars in comparison to their competition. The BMW X-3 design inside and out is boring to me. Other similar cars from the Far East: Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, and Mazda seemed okay, but went with the Mercedes Marque with the assumption that the build quality would be an advantage. Too early to decide, but so far I really enjoy the car. The smaller 220 Diesel engine is not rocket fast but has respectable acceleration from a dead start. The 220 diesel has a lot of torque for such a small engine. And combined gas mileage below 7l per 100km is about as good as it gets. Mein does not have a sunroof, which apparently is an advantage, since this is one of the supposed weaknesses of the car, and my automatic boot lid works fine. The only thing I am. not crazy about is the Navigation system which has a mall screen and is very limited. No zooming in or out of destinations, no map - just a small grid showing where the next turn is. My 2002 Mini had a ore advanced navi system than the 2011 GLK's. I have used it a few times to get used to it, and it works fine. But it is primitive and will be the first thing I look at upgrading once I decide on which aftermarket navi screen I can and which is easiest to install one rah current system.

      I am planning to get the same unit as your's. Is it solid and reliable?

    • @Charleybones
      @Charleybones Před 4 lety

      @@qwertyzxcv123 I only had it for 6 months. It was rock solid and ran perfect. I sold it only because I am not a big fan of auto transmissions. I ended up buying a mini clubman s which had more zip, has a much better navigation system and requires less parking space which is an issue for me since I live in the middle of a big city. Good Luck with your mercedes 220 GLK.

    I have a 2015 250 Diesel, it has had a number of exhaust sensor issue, which are very expensive to replace. Replaced the Nox sensors 2 years ago and they are throwing a code again with very low mileage since replacement. I have also had to replace the Soot sensor, the Diesel particulate filter, and temperature sensors. Huge weak spot in an otherwise descent vehicle. Quote to replace 2 NOX sensors at the dealer is $2,700. CAD.

      Hey man, tomorrow I’m going to look at a used 2014 GLK250 4Matic with the 4cyl diesel engine. Apparently the owner took it to Mercedes last month to get the emissions system completely replaced. Are they reliable? Besides the emissions system that basically make any diesel unreliable

    • @douggreen980
      @douggreen980 Před 4 měsíci

      @jeremyocampo1529 yes they are reliable. Diesel costs a little more to put in the tank than gas, but it gets better economy so a bit of a wash. Other than the emissions system, the only thing I have had to change is the heater fan and it's resistor. Make sure the fan isn't making any squeeking or squeeling noises which is a sign that it needs replacing, if it happens it puts more load on the resistor and it fails. There are a lot of aftermarket parts, so my fan was $250 and the resistor was $400, I did the job myself. Parts from the dealership are very pricey, they wanted $700 just for the fan.

      I bought a 2014 GLK 4matic new in 2014. No expenses beyond tires, brakes, regular maintenance that I do myself. Replaced main and auxiliary batteries in 2012. I had Mercedes do transmission fluid change because it’s messy and difficult to access. Very reliable car, plenty of passing power even on the hills, tailgate access is convenient to load and unload groceries and 2 dogs.

    This car is a total junk! Repairs after repairs after repairs nox sensors pumps spent more than the cost of the car on repairs! Total junk! Stay away. Contact also failed, a lor of money on it! And i’m not unlucky! These problems are common, the dealers know about it!

      Had it for 5 years…not a single problem….better reliability than almost any other car I have had. The mechanics I talk to always say this is the car to get..as a small SUV. All reports on-line say very good things about the car.
