Little Ricky's Combo members are: Desi Arnaz IV, Stanley Seale, Barry Goodman, Mike Ward, Teddy Kruger, Stuart Salsbury and soloist Wendy Cole. Aired on 4/3/1960 on the Dinah Shore Show. - Zábava
It's so wild to watch Desi Jr. making the same faces and expressions as his dad when he plays. That's a seriously talented group of children.
Now there's a talented group of young people...
That girl could sing!!!
Dinah Shore is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Downright beautiful.
Magnificent drum solos from desi and keith 5 star rateing
These kids are amazingly talented. Love seeing kids who have so much going for themselves. Weird seeing Little Ricky with Desi Arnaz the 4th. They certainly could pass as brothers.
Keith born 12/50
Desi Jr. 1/19/53
2 years apart but the same size
OMG
Wow! Little Ricky and Little Desi together on drums! Too cute!
I'm confused. Which is Lucy and Ricky's boy? They both look alike too.
Thanks cpk1994.
Ellie R from the Bronx wonder if little Rickey still has that gretsch drum kit
Thanks Romany1111!
Romany1111 Desi their true son, , is on the conga drum. The boy who played little
Rickey, is playing the drums. In fact Desi looks a lot like his father, and same facial expressions as he talks to Dinah Shore.
We are lucky this videotape was preserved in an era when tape stock was erased and reused.
This has been a gem of a find.
Both boys are so handsome and so talented!!!!
All the children were so talented! Desi Jr. was so cute lake his handsome father!!!!
They are both so adorable even the little girl on the mike. I seriously want Dinah Shore's amazing dress.
I love her dress, too! I've noticed this style is again available on Amazon.
The print and style could be used in 2020. She is very stylish!
@@marythomas1198 Always watched her show
Rose B. amazon = garbage made in China. My girlfriend had a shop for 20 years reproducing this style of dress proudly made in the USA. Then the chinese kept stealing her designs. Girls would come in and complain how disappointed they where of the quality. we asked them to go pull the dress off our rack. They immediately saw / felt the difference that ours were superior. They then confessed their dress was shipped from China. After many years struggling to stay afloat we closed down. Americans don’t care or understand quality any more all they want is cheap disposable clothing. Trust me Dinah Shores dress looks good because it was made in America back when made in USA MENT QUALITY.
The dress is great, but I would rather have her body and her money. Not necessarily in that order though
What happened to our society. Take me back!!!!!
Keith Thibodeaux was a regular at the grocery store where I use to work. He was married to a ballet dancer. . Back then he played drums in a Christian band called David and the Giants, A great guy and still a fine drummer.
That’s awesome!
Little Desi Jr was so much like his father
It's very interesting to see how similar these 2 look as little kids.
That's why they used him in the show.
Stephen Baer I didn't realize how talented little Ricky was on the drums.
They look like twins.
Yup. Keith Thibodeaux was a very good drummer - still is - and the other reason they picked him to play little Ricky.
Fun fact:...just a few years after this episode aired, “Little Ricky” would go on to be a semi regular on another hit CBS program...as Opie Taylor’s friend, Johnny Paul, on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW...
He has a band in real life! I think they still play!
Wow! Keith was a prodigy on the drums. So young and playing like that.
Keith could play the drums since he was three years old. That's the main reason why he was chosen to be on "I Love Lucy."
I'm a good friend of Keith Thibodeaux, and we're gonna jam with some band guys soon in my studio. He's STILL a GREAT DRUMMER!!!!
Heck, as well as all of the other kids in the band.
And Wendy was an amazing singer too.
@@worshipmaniac- Keith has a unique stick grip in this video- I guess it is a reversed traditional- plus he plays his ride cymbal with a traditional left-hand grip with his right hand. Does he still play like this? I mean he is good here and better with age for sure, but it looks uncomfortable.
@@worshipmaniac is Keith Left handed? Looking at a reverse traditional grip.
So adorable! I've never seen this before. AMAZING how both the boys looked so much alike, they could've been brothers for real!
Jeepman89
I don’t, either. They both have dark hair but that’s about it.
Ha,ha, knowing Desi, they may well have been! they sure do look alike!
me 2 i am big lucy fan and all the kids were cute
They definitely could be brothers
Brilliant music these kids back then were awesome. Of course little Desi had that Latino spirit in him.
when america was truly great and there were respectful boys and girls!
Sadly both those boys grew up to be addicts. In the case of Keith, heroin. Just read his book. Thankfully both found their way out.
You mean when African Americans had to ride in the back of the bus, drink from separate water fountains, and other forms of racial discrimination were legal. Oh, yeah, really great.
@@FRAME5RS Keith became a born again Christian. The LORD REALLY DOES CHANGE LIVES... because HE really is who HE says HE is. We all need HIM.
@@judd442009 nahpoli has a point and yet, you're dismissive and sarcastic. Yes, overt racial discrimination existed in certain states, but that doesn't negate that what nahpoli is saying is true. People were more respectful back then [both blacks and whites]. Let me add, you could buy a house back then without being indebted to the bank for a 30 year morgage and one parent could afford to support the family, because the cost of living wasn't so high. Now two parents working full time barely support the family. There were flaws that needed to be corrected, but crime wasn't sky high in our large cities, etc... I'm glad that I'm living now, because technology has advanced so much [remote control, cell phone, computer, social media], but I wish people we could have retained some of the things from yonder year with of course, the greater tolerance we have today.
A veneer of politeness? Yes. True respectability? Was just as rare as it is today. Too bad Desi Sr. didn't respect his marriage vows. It damaged a lot of lives, including his own. If all you see of the 50s is the TV and movies, you have no idea what that era was actually like.
For a 7 year old, litte Desi was so poised, spoke so clearly and remembered his lines. He was it seems quite a precocious child. When I was 7, I used to hide behind my mother's skirt. I was one of those shy little kids who hated when adults would talk to me, because I was embarrassed.
Very talented with excellent showmanship. I was a Lucy fan all my life and I still watch the show. 58 yrs and counting. Thank you for the memories.
Who are the 33 Idiots that didn't like this wonderful piece of TV history?
Lucie Arnaz said that Richard Keith Thibodeaux was always hanging out at their house. He was in family photos and home movies.
Whats happened to our nation? Innocence has disappeared. Along with hate weve welcomed unhappiness & distrust. We all feel it, something gone terribly wrong. During 70s 80s racism of civil rights are even disappearing most of USA. We somewhere these last uears taken step backward as Herman Cain said. Its sad because so much progress pushed aside. America really had a chance...now its in rapid decline. So sad. In the study of civilizations, great ones collapse at 300 years. We are right on track with history. Of course learning from history is now un- American. When history is pushed aside, it will repeat itself. America had a real chance.. 70s 80s 90s... May GOD help us, our only hope!
OMG, this is the first time seeing this, they're great! WOW!❤
Both boys were adorable! Love the band!
WOW!!!WHAT A GEM!!!!!
Like many others, I feel I grew up with Lucy and her family. I hope that Keith and Desi have a copy of this!
Those WERE the days!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟
OMG they look like twins! So adorable! ❤️
Its great to see them together! And in color to boot!
Got we need shows like this again, it is so refreshing
What talent. Amazing. Those kids are great.😊😊😊
And that girl Wendy she can sing.😊
Big Daddy.😊
My goodness that little girl in the blue..... the way she moved lawd have mercy? Wow! What talent!
Lil Ricky, Desi jr & Wendy Cole have more talent than ANY modern artists of the day. Thoroughly enjoyed this 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I never knew little Ricky and Desi Jr. played together at any time. Wow this was really an eye opener for me. I saw every I love Lucy including little Ricky's combo with Lucy playing the Ukulele. I saw Dino Desi and Billy on Ed Sullivan but this was just amazing. Really a cool 😎 thing to see.
Wow!!! Such talent!!! I am just mesmerized hearing such talent. Dinah Shore was beautiful inside & outside & could belt a song out!!
Hey; remember “Dino, Desi, and Billy” the ‘60s band that included Dean Martin’s son ?
Yep. Dino Martin Jr and Billy Hinche- who was also a drummer for the touring Beach Boys! (and brother-in-law to Carl Wilson) Carl later married Gina Martin- sister of the late Dino.
Their one and only big hit was, Im a fool.
My attention span at that age was about 10 seconds, at the most.
@Mary Loved Dino!!
Yes, but it was Hal Blaine and the "Wrecking Crew" who actually played the instruments while Desi, Dino and Billy sang the vocal tracks.
Wendy Cole is a class act what a great group
Just saw this for the first time! How Sweet and Amaizing! Man the Innocence is Overwhelming! What a Little Entertainer Little Wendy Was! Could you Imagine these Generic "so called Stars" of the last 20 years having a Sliver of that Talent? Brittany Spears, madonna, and all the others who were so great I cant even remember their names!lol, No Contest! What is passed off as Talent today is Nothing but a product of puppets backed by Big $$$ Promotion. Sad, Those Days Are Gone Forever! Double Sad !
Chava Goldberg Wendy sure Knew how to entice and shake that ass!
where is wendy today?
Wenndy (two n’s) McKenzie was part of the national Archie’s touring band, sang backup for Melissa Manchester and also the Moody Blues. She was the singing voice for many cartoons. She also did Broadway shows. She is now the director of The Groundlings founded by her deceased husband Gary Austin (Paul Reubens borrowed the now famous Pee Wee Herman suit from Gary for an audition).
He lives in my home town! Those kids were adorable and so talented!
What a great clip! Seeing those 2 boys together is something else! I never saw Desi IV that young; he was absolutely adorable! Thank you for posting this terrific piece of memorabilia!
Kate N yeah, I only remember seeing Desi Jr in his teenage years on The Lucy Show.
What expressions Desi and Keith have!!!!!!
This is so cute! I am smiling ear to ear watching this. I know their parents were beaming with pride.
Desi Jr. and Keith were like brothers growing up. They were both so cute and talented, Desi Jr. was like a mini Desi Sr. !!!
They are adorable together, very talented little boys
Keith Thibodeaux (Known as Richard Keith then) was never billed on I Love Lucy for a couple reasons. First, the show sort of wanted people to believe that Keith was actually Desi Arnaz Jr. Also, while Lucy and Desi had no intentions to replace Keith, they wanted to leave the option open to bring on Desi Jr. if necessary. Also, Keith recently revealed that as much as he and Desi were best friends for a while, and spent a lot of time at each other's houses, there were moments that his parents would "make" Keith come to Lucy's house or Desi's house to be with Desi Jr., and Keith had other friends that he would've rather hung out with. I mean, when the bosses want a playmate for Desi Jr, and there's nobody else, you don't want to say no. Keith also had a sort of reoccurring role as Opie's troublemaking friend on Andy Griffith. Keith said he sort of preferred that role because he thought Little Ricky was sometimes TOO good of a kid and it was nice to play a character that wasn't always that nice.
That Wendy Cole is something!!!
Dinah Shore was so beautiful. What talented kids.
Lots of good talent here...so interesting to watch!
Desi also played drums. there's a great episode in the mid-60's called "The Drum Lesson" where he goes at it with the late, great Buddy Rich - no contest, of course, but a terrific episode just the same.
People complain these days about making little girls look and act like adults in beauty contests. They have nothing on having Wendy Cole singing THAT song.
Wrong. Not even close to trash and filth today.
Nothing at all wrong with what she was doing she’s singing a song. It’s a song and she’s not doing anything nasty. That was the music of the era.
This was absolutely adorable DESI JR. and LITTLE RICKY THEY WERE SOOO TALENTED!🎉🎉🎉🎉😁😊
When Keith grew up he played in the rock band David and the Giants for years. They recorded several albums
They really good
Wow, what happened to all the talent like this, cause there sure isn't any out there today!
The boys were SO cute! Lucy & Desi did not want their son to play little Ricky. Keith was born to play the role!! :)
It's like a time capsule of innocence. Just thinking that in two years the musical landscape will change with four young lads from Liverpool. And by 1964 Beatlemania will sweep the nation and we will never be the same.
betsy buckmaster your right, the country seemed to change overnight.
Do not forget the Kennedy assassination. That also helped to change the country when class moved out of the White House.
@@carltonpoindexter2034 I thought about adding that part, too, as I did in another post somewhere on CZcams, but I didn't want to go into a lengthy explanation. I was just looking at it from a musical perspective and how Beatles music was about to change the world. But, yes, you make a salient point.
That absolutely blew my mind!!🤯
This is amazing! 😍 I've never seen this before.. Just Fantastic! So Adorable!
Desi looks alot like his father☺️ and Keith was a perfect choice to play little Ricky👍 The little girl, Wendy Cole is great!
Dinah was a treasure
Gee I remember Dinah was an old lady when I was the same age as the band. Now as a 66 year old I can see so much more clearly. My Dad was right, what a hottie.
Perspective, right?
My mom used to watch that show and I would catch some of it when I got home from school. She was quite the hottie but I believe she swang her golf club the other way. But I have always bought Chevys! Hahaha!
Fred Gehrer nah she and Burt Reynolds were quite in love even though she was a lot older than him
1960, when Chevrolet was at the top of it's game.
Dinah Shore, spokesperson.
This video just made my day!! I loved I Love Lucy when I was around 8 years old and I thought little Ricky on the show was such a cute kid. Desi is just as cute. I'm recording shows everyday now. I still love this show.
WOW such talented kids, simply beautiful. I know Desi, Lucy and all the parents of all the other chiy had to have been so so proud of these children 😊♥️♥️♥️♥️
Other children 😂
That was AMAZING! Thank you for posting this clip. Keith & Desi Jr. on that drum sequence was awesome.
I like this kind of entertainment. Not like the Garbage entertainment of today.

Mindless nostalgia is never in short supply on CZcams.
@@jamessandy5873 Mindless Nostalgia??? Tell me something jackass? Why in the living fuck are you here? Idiot!!!!
@@kimmyhawk5612 he is prob here to listen to your gutter mouth....so why are you here gutter mouth...
Not everything is garbage today..your obviously elderly which is fine..
My mind was totally blown away by this!! I know he was good on the drums because of the show he was on but I had no idea that they formed a band after the show ended. I Love It!
And Desi looks just like it pops!
Desi Sr. always touched my heart. He was very sensitive. Lucie said how he was on I Love Lucy was who he truly was. Gracious. Magnanimous. Friendly. Desi Sr was so musical and was such a great performer. How wonderful to see this musical show. I loved the Desi Arnaz orchestra on I Love Lucy. They were incredible. All the young performers on this clip gave such an energetic performance.
I really enjoyed this!!! I'm one day older than Desi Jr..
I’m 5 months older than Desi Jr. 😎
This is a lot of fun. The 'Drum battle' put a big smile on my face!
Very cute kids they were!
Keith with his tounge 😀 He did that in the show, too.
How talented are this group..amazing
Sadly, his 31 year old granddaughter, Desiree, passed away two weeks ago of breast cancer. My heart goes out to him and his daughter, Julia. 😢
These are the videos on YT universe that make me smile and put me in a state of grace.
Beautiful.
The amount of talent on this show is overwhelming. Wendy Cole had a terrific voice, but I don't think the song was appropriate for such a young age. However, things were more innocent back then.
Daisy Cassidy Agreed!
I also agree, however it was a different time back then. If something equivalent were to be done today that little girl would be plastered with makeup, dressed very inappropriately and acting likewise. At least it was done tastefully.
@Daisy Cassidy I was JUST thinking the same thing.
I thought the song "the grown folk" chose for that little girl and the way she moved was inappropriate as well.
She looked like she oughta be a bar slinging back martinis and smoking cigs.
...that lil' "gal singer",Wendy, was suuuuure fulla sassafrass..;)!!
Suzanne Reilman Singing to grown men so they can come over her house for a drink
Oh my goodness... too freaking adorable! Every child there was amazing! I was flabbergasted when Wendy started shaking and her deep grownup voice and those lyrics! The young boys with their drum duo... Wow!
All are prodigies.
What a nice dress, Dinah looks good here
Hello, Beautiful Songs. I love it 💞💞💞💞. Thank You For The Wonderful Memories. God Bless You All 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊😊😊😊
The kid's real name is Keith Thibodeaux, and he is from Lafayette, Louisiana.
That's a fact. He is my second cousin. I'm from Lafayette too me!
That must have been hard on Desi
Keith was the center of that act
Even during the drum challenge
So much talent!
I Love Lucy, was the best comedy team ever. The kids who played little rickey, were so cute, and later Keith came along. I don't recall seeing Desi Jr., in the show but did see him on Here's Lucy, I guess after Lucy divorced Desi Sr. Kids didn't have tablets to stare and play with their thumbs back then. They took up other habits that gave them something to do other then what trash we have today.
Desi Jr. was in the last I Love Lucy episode titled "The Ricardos Dedicate A Statue. The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour started after that.
I could be wrong, but I looked closely and it appears that the kids are really playing the instruments. I'm super impressed, especially with little Ricky and the trumpet player. Very accomplished for such a young age.
Kieth, or little Ricky, could play the drums from the age of 3. That's one of the reasons he was chosen to play little Ricky on I Love Lucy.
Of course their playing
Fingerings are all correct. They're really playing.
Imagine kids with real talent and lots without auto tune if only we Could go back to that again
Duh. Wow. You need to go back and enjoy a time before lip syncing and children doing something besides watching television and playing video games. Yeah, once kids were taught something.
Ms. Shore is beautiful.
OMG!!!! I never knew those 2 were in a band together!!! How cute!!!
Wendy Cole was great!!
Great entertainment! As a big Lucy/Desi fan, this is classic! Thank you for posting!!!
Wow! Put a big fat smile on my face all the way through it!
Didn’t realize Ricky had a stand in for the sitcom, thanks for sharing!
Wow. I have never seen this! All that and Dinah Shore too ❤🎉 😊
I can see why Lucy picked Keith to play Little Ricky. He looks so much like her own son Desi Jr.
I dont think he looks like him at all. The key is he could play drums and desi arnaz liked that.
@@laurenbendik2006 a lot of Lucy's programs were all done at Lucy's suggestions. Lucille Ball had to fight to have Desi on the original show, if Keith is there it all had to do with Lucy. Little Ricky was picked both for drums and looking like a double for Desi Jr.
The drummer has a left-handed traditional grip playing a right-handed drum setup. Never saw that before.
If I remember correctly from his autobiography, he kind of just picked up drum sticks and started playing (at 2 or 3.) His father later asked (another drummer/teacher/someone along those lines) if they should have him switch his grip because it was "reverse" but whoever was asked just said since it was working for him to just let him keep it the way it was.
Bit unusual but it worked.
mobrules29 I thought something felt odd about that...thanks for clearing that up!
It is odd . No hi hat either . Never crosses his hands .
Another_Life Phanta00773 You are amazing in your downloads! I may not have been born when these shows were on but that doesn't stop me from becoming a fan! Thanks!
Too cute
I’ve never seen this before. A real treat. Plus it’s a rare color broadcast a la 1960
These children were very all so talented
This show aired on April 3, 1960- just three days after the last episode of the 'Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour' had AND barely a month after March 3,1960 when Lucille Ball filed for divorce from Desi Arnaz, Sr. It's hard to imagine a more tense time for Desi, Jr. and Keith Thibodeaux- neither of whom was yet ten years old! Yet, they somehow managed to put out a fantastic performance for Miss Shore!
Moreover in spite of Keith Thibodeux playing a character who was supposed to be based on Desi, Jr., the two became friends and evidently have stayed so in adulthood.
Of course, it can't have been fun for young Mr. Thibodeux to have been billed ONLY as 'Little Ricky' on 'Lucy-Desi' when all other performers were billed under their actual names.
🥁 Well said. The only thing I would have mentioned is that Desi Jr. And Little Ricky share the same birthday. 🪘
WOW! These kids are great. Give them a spot in Vegas/Reno.
I am 74, remember watching I Love Lucy as a kid. Dinah Shore was great. Unbelievable how we have morally fallen. Yes, things went on behind closed doors at that time, no perfect, no one is but it was discreet. Family was priority. Love the lyrics of the theme song, “America is the greatest land of all”. Need to restore America.
