    Biapenem was not discussed. Doripenem does not work against a lot of bacteria hence not a popular penem

      You have to combine colistin group with carbapenums … this give synerstic effect . Hope colistin group was sensitive

    About faropenam sir?

    • @TheICUChannel
      @TheICUChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      Actually this is not considered as carbapenum by many and only available as oral formulation … we don’t use it too much . Not it critical patients

    • @snj6927
      @snj6927 Před 2 lety

      @@TheICUChannel okay sir. Now a days lot of patients we receive from outside clinics were already put on faropenam. Little hazy on spectrum of its activities and how effective it is.

    • @TheICUChannel
      @TheICUChannel  Před 2 lety

      @@snj6927 have to look into more detail on it... as we don't use... its basically an oral drug which is used on opd basis or on discharge. will get back on this.

      Concentration dependent antibiotic not time dependent

      Because of it's half life.
      T 1/2 of ertapenem : 4 hr
      Others: 1 hr

      As sir told, it's good for outpatient IV therapy because of its once a day dosing...
      One more factor makes it a good choice for outpatient use is that, it can be given I.M.!
