      What I actually realized that through so much social conditioning through our entire lives we are taught to think that we have to think, prepare and control everything, I'm not saying it's wrong to do it but with talking to people, strangers or women it just doesn't work. Another tip: people like talking about themselves A LOT, so make sure you don't talk about yourself too much, they honestly don't care. Talk about yourself only when it's interesting enough or that person is genuinely interested in your conversation. Also, be genuinely interested in what they are talking about and ask small questions here and there. It's a great way to open up conversations and keep it going. I hate asking questions because now it just drags on and on and on lol. Sometimes it sucks when no one genuinely ask about your life whether it's interesting or not, people are sometimes so self centered and they forgot about the other person's interests or conversation. - Dale Carnegie, "How to Win Friends And Influence People".

    I'm too stupid to communicate. I am constantly silent and often have nothing to say. I'm very boring. Why do some people already have excellent communication skills even at a young age, for example at 5 years old, while others have very weak ones at this age? It’s so unfair that some people have it all since childhood, while others need to develop it on their own. For me they develop very difficult. I need at least more 100 years to reach at least the level of those talkative 7 year old children. I've heard that retelling texts every day helps with this. You need to retell texts at least 1 hour a day. Then talkativeness and eloquence will develop after 3 months of such practice. However, it is not a fact that this will work for me and because of this I am lazy to do this practice and quit after about 3 days. All because I am not 100% sure of the result and that I will waste my time.

    Is it just me or do o have this fear of being rejected...? Not like relationship type of thing. Here's an example: "You look like you come from a big family." You said a person could branch off into many topics from these types of questions. What if the person replied with "Um... okay I guess..?" that would make the whole conversation flip

    • @LyonFujoshiTrishula
      @LyonFujoshiTrishula Před 7 lety +56

      Leen the Queen You're not alone in feeling this way. But I think that if a person responds that way, then to me, it would seem that they just aren't interested in conversation at that point of time. In such a case, I find that it's best to politely excuse yourself and leave them alone. Sometimes, the other person would have reacted that way because they were caught off guard and will realize that and will try to restart the conversation. But if they don't, then they're probably not in the frame of mind for a conversation.

    • @TheRumpelstinskin
      @TheRumpelstinskin Před 7 lety +19

      You need to develop effective strategies to cope with rejection, in the case it present itself. This way you'll reduce the fear of being rejected, because you'll know that, whatever happens, you can deal with the situation.
      If you make a comment and the other person reply with something like that, you need to be able to identify if the person isn't interested (based on his/her body language and facial expressions) or if you just took him by surprise. In the first case you excuse yourself and leave, in the second case there are a number of strategies you can use to keep the conversation going (the video covers many of them but there are more), like humor (if you're skilled enough), telling a story about something related to the context where you are, plumbing (making random comments 'till something "hits"), acknowledging the awkwardness of the situation and commenting on it, etc, etc, etc.

    Keep it short and simple
    1 Be efficient with speaking
    Remove all extra fill in words like actually, well, eh.
    Sounds more confident
    Pauses can be powerful and emphasise
    2 use pauses to emphasise and make it powerful
    3 conversational threading (mention more topics, they can branch of from) to avoid a death-end
    Dont bombard a person with questions, you dont share info about yourself.
    4 use statements instead of questions
    Story/opinion statement. Tell something about yourself. Other gets other option to talk about
    Cold lead station, an observation you make about the other person: you look like a fun person, I bet you have interesting hobbies.
    Random statement: can be everything, says something about yourself
    5 humor
    6 story telling

    Dear Improvement pill, thank you for teaching me a lot of this video.
    You made me see the idea of the friendship as a tree. The solid trunk of it will be the main information that we are seeking from people and then after our comment and additional questions, the tree will grow branches and the deeper the conversation becomes, the stronger roots it will grow in the hearts of the ones, leading it.
    I understood so much about and it made me realize that there is hope, as I am a loner or someone who is struggling finding friends and leading conversations.
    The thing that interests me is how to prevent the people from only talking about themselves?
    I am following the rule: Share and let be shared with you, but usually when I try to lead a conversation, the people are starting to talk only about themselves and even if I try to say something about me, they're like: Oh, that's cool. I was saying... Blah, blah and there it goes, error 404, connection not found.
    They are not interested, even if I have something interesting to share.
    Thak you very much, I really enjoy your videos, they way you are doing them and you're voice. :)

    What a magnificent video on communication. A quick recap of what was presented in this video Is on how to rid of unnecessary fillers and instead use pauses. This allows the sender to sound more assertive and confident when delivering a message. Secondly, is conversational treading which allows communication to go on endlessly. Thirdly, the video also suggest to use storytelling\opinion
    andom statements to give the receptive receiver more information to register and greater response coverage.

    • @ThunderD15
      @ThunderD15 Před 6 lety +10

      Ill tell you a story...
      Let me tell you 'bout a girl I know
      Had a drink about an hour ago
      Sitting in the corner by herself, in a bar in downtown Hell
      She heard a noise, and she looked through the door
      And saw a man she'd never seen before
      Light skin, light blue eyes
      A double-chin and a plastic smile
      Well, her heart raced as he walked in the door
      And took an empty seat next to her at the bar
      "My brand new car is parked right outside
      How'd ya like to go for a ride?"
      And she said, "Wait a minute, I have to think"
      He said, "That's fine, may I please buy you a drink?"
      One drink turned into three, or four
      And they left and got into his car
      And they drove away some place real far
      "Now, babe, the time has come
      How'd ya like to have a little fun?"
      And she said, "If we could only please be on our way
      I would not run".... that's when things got out of control..
      She didn't want to
      He had his way
      She said, "Let's Go"
      He said, "No Way! Come on, babe, it's your lucky day
      Shut your mouth, we're gonna do it my way
      Come on, baby, don't be afraid
      If it wasn't for date rape, I'd never get laid"

    If you think you can't do this on the moment, then my advice is first write these in a notebook and apply them in an online conversation. Don't stress out too much, just look when you need to or once in a while. You'll be much comfortable, and it'll be easy to learn them. And after doing that for a while, you can use these a lot easier in actual situations.

      What problems have you had with your conversations?

    • @zonergh4960
      @zonergh4960 Před 7 lety

      saphirehulk For example, I'm not that much conversational, the topics I discuss with others are usually silly and not continued. Most of the times, good conversations end up pretty quick. And from worse to worst, interruptions happen alot, which really reduce the chances to complete the same conversation by the (2 or more) conversationalists.
      I'm not complaining, but just answering your question sir. That's why I extremely need to learn how to start "deep conversations".
