I think i know the lore about this AU. Its like people wanting to escape reality to live in a place where they can be happy, a place with friends and people who are nice, where the world isn't so harsh and cruel. When Dream had the VR set on for him its like living in the world of his dreams or the world he wanted to be in. So Dream kept the VR set on for 2 whole days because he felt happy with the "World" he sees and hear. He just wanted friends and somebody to love without getting taken away from him because of SOMEBODY.
