Being born as a Muslim in a Kazi family and later fighting as a soldier during the First World War in the Middle East , he had wide access into Islamic culture and traditions unlike other Bengali poets . So , he has lots of ghazals and muslim terminology in his poems . But he also studied Hindu mythology and wrote more Kirtans than any other great poet . Hi was thirsty of knowledge and gathered it from all sources . He claimed himself primarily as a Bengali and married a Hindu girl who never changed her religion . So , religion didn't matter him at all .
Kazi Nazrul Islam a real Muslim in faith called true Imandar Muslim.This is true that this great poet married a non Muslim and never charged against her personal freedom.It is why the than there were riot/fight between Hindu-Muslim.He wanted to make them hold and converted to peace and he tried to proof it's possible as he was living with his wife peacefully so that peoples inspire to change the society.It was his practical example to make the Hindu-Muslim brotherhood in the society.Because, in any religion peace and truth is the main element.He was so great.

I guess you have listened only some of his Islamic songs , but you should know he has composed much more nos. of Kirtans , gazals , Thumris , classical musics than any other Bengali poet . That was his credit of having wide range of knowledge about all religions .
