How To EASILY Repair a Gravel Driveway | Maintenance, Leveling, Restoration: FIX EVERYTHING!

My gravel driveway turns into a mud pit every spring and this year was terrible with late snow fall melt and heavy spring rain. I had some deep ruts that I needed to level out and here's how I did it.

I rewatch my own video just to see that sweet satisfying leveling action. Box blades are just so “oddly satisfying” with how simple yet effective they are.

If you never want to add rock again you can do one of two things. 1. Put down geotextile fabric and then put rock on top of that. 2. Blade existing rock to the side and lay geotextile fabric and then blade the rock back. This keeps soil and rock separated.

That's a nice tool. The fabric mentioned is the way to go. DirtBoss and Andrew Camarata have videos installing it. It is a little pricy but nothing compared to concrete or asphalt. Gotta love the mud!

How do u think this would work with sand. My yard is my sand box that me in the family play in. I would love to use something like this.

How deep can you set the metal tines to dig?

They go down about 6” into the ground on the lowest setting and lots of adjustment too. They can be pulled all the way up as well for no ground engagement for less aggressive final leveling work.

Why didn't you show the box scraper working out the big ruts? It looks to me like you are showing the box scraper being used on freshly spread gravel and not really restoring the driveway you show in the beginning. This video seems more like click-bait than a how to video and for sure this is not how you leveled out your deep ruts.

The ruts are carved out by the rippers hanging down off the front of the scraper. They dig in and then the box runs things over and smooths things out. It's hard to shoot the rippers doing their thing but anyone that has used a box scraper like this can attest that they are like magic. So simple yet so satisfying to use and the results are incredible. Should have gotten one ten years ago.
