I was born in Turtle Creek, in our house, in 1939. I don’t remember the address, but I believe it was called the Cunningham plan.it was a beautiful pale yellow brick house. My dad and mom worked for Westinghouse and met at the company picnic in Kennywood park. I went to a 4 room school called Bellwood. This video brings back memories. Thank you.

The best little town to have grown up and lived in. Too bad it couldn't have stayed as it was back then. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

I grew up in Turtle Creek in the area known as the Electric Plan. Many wonderful memories and this video help me to remember things I forgot. An example is cars had to park on top of the curb on Penn Ave. So the streetcars could pass. Thanks for sharing this.

Life in Turtle Creek revolved around Westinghouse East Pittsburgh. I worked there for 3 months in 1978 and was amazed by the history. Swissvale revolved around Union Switch and Signal. Wilmerding had Westinghouse Air Brake. Of course, the steel mills had towns like Homestead, Duquesne, Braddock, Mckeesport, Clairton, among others.
    All gone 40 years ago.

My grandfather came from northern England and settled in TC before the turn of the 19th century. He worked in the coal mines for a time, but went to work for Westinghouse, then died in 1923, leaving my Granny with 9 kids and 3 grandkids. My parents moved us to California in 1963, when the jobs were disappearing in the Pittsburgh area.
