I can imagine that a more skilled Changeling may even be able to actually consume external substances (food, drink, poison) and compartmentalize them internally, so they could actually "eat" and deposit the substance later. It does make you wonder how a Changeling metabolizes at all - perhaps they do some variety of filter-feeding, consuming microscopic organisms for nourishment and growth; or maybe they photosynthesize.

I had a few drinks so it's bold to say the best, but in his time with the franchise his character is well plotted out, your emotional feelings about him are ambiguous, his actual acting with regards to delivery and expression are amazing, Andrew Robinson brings life to the character and even when done up in makeup and prostheses, he allows Garak to come through emotionally with his facial expressions. Not just emotionally but historically, as in the history of the character. I have loved every iteration of Star Trek that I have encountered. I love Discovery, and Michael is amazing as a character and as we see she may evolve past Garak but, until then, kudos.

The problem with discovery is it suffers from a lot of the same issues of early TNG and DS9 plus all the issues of Voyager. The writers have their heads too far up their own asses so the series suffers a lot at times. There's potential though. They just need someone capable enough to bring it out. What I find interesting though is that the "spoon" on Garak's forehead seems to be colored in a blue-tint here. I thought that was a feature/decoration exclusive to Cardassian women? Seems our plain simple Tailor is flamboyant even in Cardassian terms.

@@WILEYsUnrequestedRamblings No, it's got to be either make-up that they wear for reasons we don't know, or else something like a "time of the month" signaler, because I've seen Garak with and without. Other Cardassians too, I think. Or maybe some are naturally blue all the time and wear grey concealer to hide it, or others are grey all the time and wear blue make-up sometimes? So, I guess there could be a genetic component.
