Would a Frozen Human Shatter Into Pieces?
VloĆŸit

- In this video, we test if a frozen person would shatter like in movies. We are freezing meat a few different ways and smashing them to see if they shatter.

9 year old: That would be a terrible way to die, because they might not find all of the pieces!
Me: And that's the only reason it would be terrible???
I mean, freezing itself would be really painful and it'd be nice and slow until it takes maybe days for the freeze get your vital innards. You'd feel like all you flesh was chipping away like painfully crusty lips but all over and a lot worse and would feel the ice crystals spines carve deep into your membranes. The rest of your body thawed out will turn into much and everything.

Welcome to the internet, where information is readily available. That doesn't make it easy to do any of this, certainly not in the bulk amounts you'd need to freeze a body.
Mix bleach and ammonia together to get mustard gas!

can you âcookâ meat with liquid nitrogen and still safely eat it
Wait cook with liquid nitrogen
@Adil Hussain how?
Actually it would be freeze dried cured sort of like a jerky made in minutes.
It might not. Since it freezes so fast , the water might not crystallize which well, it wonât break the cell. So some organisms might survive
@@kintheknigh80 unlikely, at such extreme temperatures i don't think any organism can make it more than a millisecond.

I read something several years ago that they were experimenting with this. they would use sound vibrations to break up the body and then let it thaw out and the liquid would go down the drain and what was left over was what they referred to as sand.
no cap - my brain told me this was âwould a frozen hammer shatterâ and now I want to see that!
NO BOTS ALLOWEDDDDDE
That's a pretty great idea. Its very well established that metal gets a lot more ductile and workable with heat, and it does get more brittle when you cool it. But is liquid nitrogen enough to do the trick?? I say that's absolutely worth a video.

The fact of it is that every piece that you used had no blood in it. A human in the video's all still have blood in them and have not been drained like products from a supermarket.
That was my first thought too.
I'm surprised they didn't mention the coldness of space as a theory of coldness. Can't remember the movie name but I do remember one movie in space where the characters had to get from one ship to another but they didn't have a tunnel to travel through or a suit to wear. They wrapped themselves up with several layers of insulations before diving from one ship to the other. Two made it and you can see them trying to quickly get some heat into themselves but the third guy missed the door and shattered on the side of the ship.

Next time try freezing a metal and see if it shatters
That ones actually really really cool.
Yes some metals will, but it does depend on what they are alloyed with and how long they are held at super low temps. Some steels will even shatter in long cold winter weather like you get in the artic. I really hope King of Random sees and does your comment.

The thing about living human being frozen, it's not the shatter thats terrifying, it's when your blood flow slowly freezing, and you're dying a slow and painful yet numb death
A human body DOES shatter when frozen. The process is called Promession. Go look it up. It hasn't quite caught on as a burial alternative in the USA yet. But it is the most green alternative outstide of alkaline hydrolylization.

I already know the answer to this cause my mom loves to cook and she freezes thing like chicken and tomatoes in a super powerful freezer and a couple days later she just throws it on the counter really hard and itâll shatter into pieces or sometime sheâll hit it with her kitchen mallet and itâll break into little pieces
Edit: so the simple answer is YES
Edit2: if you freeze it long enough it WILL break into pieces
