    Thank you (: My girlfriend is Vietnamese and does not have family near us. Sometimes she gets very sad because she misses the food from there so sometimes we go to the vietnamese market to get food there. Today I decided to cook her this because she mentioned she really wanted to eat it again. She loved it (: Thanks again

      good idea!! I always think its a good way to use up leftover meat, but my Vietnamese friend say "chicken must be cooked in the soup or not tasty" So i did not. I so glad you mention this, now I know someone have experience to the taste of it this way! Thanks for post ^.^

    Thank you so much for the tutorial! This was a childhood comfort food for me too. Now I want to cook it for my kids to introduce them to the Vietnamese food I was brought up on. Dad used to serve this with a side of Vietnamese herbal coleslaw.
    Edited to add: I used your recipe and it was a success! My family loved it! So delicious!

    My grandmother used to make this when we were kids :D She's Dutch-Indonesian so we know it as "bubur ayam" but it's very similar. It's nice with thinly-sliced leek or cabbage in it and a good way to sneak vegetables into kids. I'll have to give it a try, my grandmother doesn't really follow a recipe so I never did work out how to do it properly. Thank-you for the instructions! :D

    Hi Helen, I'm excited to give your recipe a try! It will be my first time making porridge, I've been hesitant to do so. But, I've never had to cook a while chicken before - how do I wash the chicken before cooking it? Is it needed to do that, and are there any "insides" that shouldn't be there before I cook it? Please let me know the soonest you can! 😊

    • @HelenRecipes
      @HelenRecipes  Před 10 lety +1

      It depends where you buy the chicken. Mostly at supermarkets, all the insides have been taken out. So just rub with some salt and rinse under tap water.
