@@forzaflyracer3473 Im a cheap bastard. 1- you can never beat a broken or used PC for $25. There is very little risk because even if it wont work from a bad mobo, powersupply, CPU, or RAM dismantelling will yield a minimum of 100% against that computer not working.
Now if I buy from some douchebag on Facebook Market Place and pay $75 to $100. I would have to spend more time and energybon the part out its just not worth it.
FACTS from doing craigslist/FB Market place/ Offer UP. There are no returns and people ghost others. When I use to do these inline market places. 70% of GPU’s I would get prior to my testing were bad and 50% would ghost me. On PC’s even if they do work, I have to waste my time and energy to get a hunk of junk to work minimizing my profits. That happens with atleast 50% of computers on these online market places.
If you have access to Ewaste for $25 with no discretions. Why even waste time, energy and money with someone on these market places? I would rather pay a mark up on places like ebay with a money back guaranty if a seller ghosts me.

Damn that was a big profit for the scammer. $50 for the case, $20 for the used psu, $50 max for the mobo and cpu, and around $20 for mismatched ram, $30 for the boot drive. He woulda just used around $170 for all the parts. But most likely he just got those for free since someone might need to get some more space in their house, $80 profit and $250 profit + if he was paid to dispose of it. My oldest stuff is ASUS Z270 Formula with 1000w Antec Power supply's and EVGA RTX 780ti all the way up to the Latest Motherboards RAM and Processors, SSD's, and Power Supply's. I would put-em up for sale and usually get Sceptics or Scammers, mostly just looking and always asking questions, never buying. So if you need parts or whole computers I have laying around reply. you never know I might have something. That was really kind of you to give the person in question a nice working PC. Sure a i7-6700 won't run Windows 11, but it's a hell of a lot better than a non-working machine.
I'd personally try and get the system up and running, but again, I don't think it has the right spec given the VGA and DVI ports on the motherboard, as well as the dual PS2 ports. I would guess that this is around the 2nd - 4th gen Intel era, and definitely NOT 10th gen.
edit: I was a bit off, LGA 1151 was 6th gen though 8th gen... still not 10th gen, which I think is LGA 1200.
edit 2: 8:00 Pentium, yeah! Not worth the $250 especially with a broken GPU. This would be OK as a general everyday tasks PC, but not much else.

    • @T.Lspitz
      @T.Lspitz Před měsícem +1

Technically lga 1151 was 6th through 9th gen but would require a z370 / z390 to run a 8th or 9th gen cpu but 6th and 7th gen ran on z170 and z270 respectively. Although, back in those days there was a mod called the "coffeetime mod" that would allow you to run a 8th or 9th gen cpu on a z170 motherboard but required some research and tampering with the motherboard and cpu.

I never buy PCs from Facebook, I've heard too many horror stories. Still, I used to rock that same PSU until this month. Ended up upgrading my graphics from a GT 710 to an RX 580 and wanted to be sure nothing would go wrong. Ended up making a mistake according to a friend of getting a 550 watt MSI PSU, but it's still working. I almost had a PC horror story the way the GPU was packaged though, the faceplate was bent, it wasn't properly in the protective plastic, and it was in it's box upside down. I was scared but it still works. I don't think I'm gonna by buying a GPU from Amazon again after that experience. But yeah, I saw that PSU in that "scam PC" and thought "this thing isn't gonna be pretty". Good PSU, just low powered and something cheap people get. But I could already tell that the main issue was the GPU before you started, I've had issues with PCs having bad GPUs in the past.

I then got a Quadro 1000 video card. Now the problem was, it had a 300+ watt power supply in it. After about 3 months it went "poof", no power (It must've blown), ok? I replaced it with the same "used" power supply ($15, yes you get what you pay for, i know). Guess what happened 3 months later? It blew too....again! So (I was saying to myself the whole time "I should covert this to an ATX"), but lets see what happens until it went "poof". Ok, so i did! I got an ATX 750 watt power supply ($135!). And the C19 hit and everything came to a full stop. Even deliveries, so the warranty went to hell. Had to try and have it fixed outside, changed the motherboard twice. The CPU once. Always ended up failing shortly after. So I just gave up on it. As of today I just have the case on my sister's house. The SSD and HDD I gave to her to use as storage units. Cyberpower tried to scam me.
When i picked the parts for my pc i picked a 360mm aio because i heard before hand i9 12900k like to run super hot.
When the pc came it had a 240mm aio in it i double and triple checked everything else was what i ordered then demanded they take it back and put in what i paid for and they did.
it tock a week because the queen's funeral closed the postal service and the pc got stuck in shipping for couple of days because of it.
When i got it back i double and triple checked everything including the aio was what i paid for and it was.
Like why even try that with someone who custom picked parts i clearly new what parts i wanted.
It just makes you wonder how many old people order for their grandkids and get comply ripped off because they have no clue what any of it is.

Back at Christmas 2023, I got scammed on Facebook Marketplace for $500, purchasing a RTX 4080 16G.
I was planning on an upgrade, make my GF a gaming PC, and make my autistic son his first PC. Dad ate the 💩 sandwich and made sure I was the only one without, lol. Live and learn. 🤷‍♂️
