Fly Fishing a Prehistoric Wilderness (on our doorstep)

- Fly Fishing for bass from the kayak is one of my favourite forms of fishing, especially when I get to explore some of the stunning coastal creeks and river estuaries around the outskirts of Sydney! Today I took the Hobie Pro Angler up a river that I had driven across numerous times, and found a stunning prehistoric wilderness. The fishing was pretty good too!

Hey Peachy, I know this spot also as it is now my local. There are nice EPS and Bass there, once you reach the end of the main body you can get and walk as the is also a track along there. There are great pools that hold good bass. Also good Jewies and a good population of bull sharks. Those jewies are from where you launched the kayak and around the two bends. If you had known, if your walked a few meters in on that left bank you would have come across the walking track which would have taken you up to some very good pools. that side creek hold good flatties when the tide is in, but if you tried around the mouth of that creek towards the middle if the river it drops off, that where the bream hold out. 👍

Ah thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah the trout streams seem to get most of the kudos, but some of our coastal bass rivers are really stunning I reckon. :)
@@PeachyFlyFishing I cannot agree more. My favourite rivers when I was living in Sydney is the Nepean, the Grose, Colo, and the Cox’s River.

That is a lovely stretch of water. We did the same fishing trip up in our kayaks back in 2020.

This part of the river has changed from last time i went exploring it about a decade ago
It was dead the water looked really bad the so did the surrounding scrub
That littel side arm or creek looked good but again it was dead
I am glad it's looking as good as i imagined it would everytime i drove over it
I might have to have a go in the next week or two

@@PeachyFlyFishing what drone do you have? I currently upgraded from the DJI spark to the DJI Mini 3 pro! Sooo much better
@@dang.fishing Yep I have the Mini 3 Pro also. Great drone! Although the active tracking can be pretty temperamental, but good image quality and easy to fly... :)

Thanks, glad you liked it! My kayak in this video is a Hobie Pro Angler 12.' I also have a smaller Hobie, the Sport which is 9'. Great kayaks. :)

G'day Wayne, I'd rather not disclose the location as people get upset when their favourite/secret spot is revealed online by some youtuber....but in reality mate there are heaps of beautiful rivers out there like this. Just get on maps, find a river which has headwaters surrounded by bush, find an access point and go explore, you will find some gems I promise. :)
