      In here, many buses change drum brake to disc brake.
      Because they could change the shoe of the drum 2~3 buses only in one day.
      For the disc brake, less than 20 minutes to complete one bus.

    Good morning to all.
    1/2 comments for this video.
    My first min watching I personally wasn't happy what I noticed right away especially being in a shop/exc. Z87 were made for a reason. they are safety glasses. I attended Auto-Tech at MJC in California. My True Story, exactly in this video, I went to my hands on Brake class. the reason for this one, if you forward to I believe 6+ min were the two are changing the rear drum. I'm up to get my credit for the class, well during the step by step process i was removing the main spring, as I was using the spring pliers I had to pull on the pliers towards my l-shoulder, my partner happened to be were, l.s.s, both rear drums were rusted. Pliers slipped { picture if it if you can} remember we're my partner was standing at, we both didn't except it. Right to his left eye directly. Dazed him for a good 5+ min. this was back in 08.

      This video is taken by our friend, we are design house, they work for the car repair for several decades.
      Normally, this procedure is same as O.E. repair guide, and by individual worker.
      The man behind is the boss and the operator is the apprentice.
      I believe that they need a goggle to protect their eyes.
      We don't suggest people D.I.Y. for vehicle like Tacoma, to repair SUV or light truck need cutting and high pressure hydraulic machine.

    If you want to do a drum to disc conversion on a Tundra, check out Silver Mine Motors. They have a great kit. As with all disc brake conversion, the assembly of the emergency brake is a real pain. I suggest placing the axle assembly in a vertical jig, ( I used a tall traffic cone) to stop the pieces from falling while attempting to assemble. Afterward, just install the axle. Makes the job much easier. I also recommend replacing the axle bearings and seals. When the old one is pressed out, the old backing plate will come off as well. One thing of importance to remember, there is a right side and left side axle and, if you reverse the anti-lock brake gear, the computer will think you are going backwards.

    I have read some of the comments about why to convert drum to disc....well let me tell you this...I have a hunt camp and the last 400 m or so is a real muddy potholed road....I am talking real mud holes and so when I leave my truck at the lake for several days and then come back.....my rear wheels are locked...locked so bad that i drag them in 4 lo and they dont turn a millimetre. I have taken my truck to the dealer and they recommend a brake cleaning....so i got a taco 4x4 to go to camp and off road. Disc brakes are self cleaning more or less...I will ditch the drums within the year or so. My drum brake lock is caused by a fault with the ABS and this only happens with mud and water....this is what one mechanic i work with told me. I am not sure why this happens but it has happened 2 or 3 times now in last 2 years. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with a taco truck?

    • @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power
      @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power  Před 6 lety

      Normally, drum brake is more resistant to the mud.
      But weak to the water.
      It will be effective after drawing the water out.
      Drum brake is efficient only heat and water are its weak points.

    • @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power
      @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power  Před 4 lety +1

      It is called "Drum in Disc" system.
      The drum is stuck on the inner side of the disc and is driven by the hand brake cable.
      It generates a braking power on the shoe and inside area of the disc.
      The two devices operate independently, and the two forces can be added together in emergency cases.

      @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power  Před 8 lety

      Thanks for your commands !
      You are absolutely right !
      It is really not an easy job to build a kit, especially, without re-installing the cable is the most difficult design piece.
      We do much effort to reduce the the cost and the list price for sedan should less than 800 and less 1.6k for pickup per set.
      We had worked for AP Racing agent here for more than 10 years.
      To change the rear is much more effective than the front, especial vehicles like Golf, Focus, Mazda 3,5 ........
      they need a new hand brake mechanism when takes the original caliper off.
      The most impressive case is a Tacoma user wanted to upgrade its front brake for more braking power.
      When he installed our conversion kit, he satisfy the total braking power and give up his upgrade plan of the front.
      For most luxury vehicles, drum in disc is the only system for their rear brakes.,
      You can see pickup exists drum only or drum in disc system. (Drum is important !)
      This is why we try to collect the vehicles to drum in disc system and we are the only fools in the world.

      Our current kit only supports Tacoma year 2005 on.
      The direction of the cable into the drum is parallel compares to vertical of the previous model.
      To open molds for this kit needs a certain quantity to cover all the cost.
      The Hilux has the same problem, too.

      The parking brake (by handle) and hydraulic brake (by peddle) are working separately.
      Double system is doubly safe.
      Most luxury vehicles installed the same system - drum in disc system.
      On the other hand, upgrade to 4 pot caliper is possible without losing the parking brake.
      The drum brake is good, but it has a lag problem.
      Especially, in sudden brake cases.
      Yes, 4 disc brake type is helpful on braking.

    Does the ABS on the back work any differently?
    What I'm wondering is the ECU programming for the ABS/TCS remains static but the leverage on the brakes has been increased by nature of the design itself? Theoretically the ABS/TCS wouldn't have to work so hard for the back when activated which would be the same case for a big brake upgrade for the front.

    • @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power
      @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power  Před 7 lety

      In any case, the rear should not be locked before their front be locked.
      We calculate the front to rear ratio and upgrade them just in a certain percentage.
      The biggest benefits for the disc is to solve the drum lag and reduce the heat problem.
      If people didn't upgrade their front, then our setting is OK for the Front - Rear balancing.
      If they upgrade their front, with our parking mechanism,
      people are able to upgrade their rear to bigger rotor or maybe 4 pot caliper for their rear.
      Just like you mentioned, never brakes the balance of front and rear.

    • @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power
      @UniquepowerTwUnique-Power  Před 8 lety

      Total braking power should be the same when stops the same vehicle.Replacement frequency depends on the extent of front and rear sharing.
      When the rear does more jobs for the vehicle, the font will last longer and perform a better total braking.
      Consider of the heat problem, disc brake is more reasonable and more reliable.
