    U got to take that 200 out to that rough track u and ryno were riding and do a moto with the go pro

      I wish. This bike is 3,000 miles across an ocean from that track. If I could have made a deal with the guy that was selling it like 18 months ago, it would have been the bike Ryno rode in that video.

    Sounds sweet...I used to have the MXC 200 and I loved it, now I have a 380 and ill keep it forever! -)

      380 is a beast. I was about 1 day away from pulling the trigger on a 380SX in 2004 for my sand bike. I probably should have... but was kind of poor. Was basically done riding in 2005 😞

    She seems like a angry little buggerJohn,😆sounds amazing to,makes ya think why were 4 strokes ever made,I hate them as much as Ronnie Mac does😆

      I love 2T probably more than the next guy, but I appreciate where the 4T technology is now. The modern 250Fs are pretty much perfect. They are actually very 2T like. The simplicity, rawness & purity of the 2T keeps them is a special place in the heart.
      This bike pulls about the same as a 250F, but the power is a little less tractable... because she basically pulls down her pants and begs for you to bang her clutch 🤣🤘

      @@JohnHowerton137 I’m old school John and I’m speaking without much knowledge of 4 strokes,when I was riding in the 80s it was all about the screaming 2 bangers,if I actually rode one I might change my mind,I doubt it though,I’m to set in my ways now. 👍

      @@fastat5065 I think you probably would. As light at 90’s 2-strokes, but way better chassis and suspension, very little vibration, tractable (traction control even), adjustable ignition mapping, smooth power curve that’s reaching out beyond 13,000 RPMs (125 2T is done at 11,5k). Not at all the pig 4Ts of the 80s, 90s, or even 00s really. They’re really pretty reliable not too. Top end is about 150hrs on a small bore bikes. I know people on the 500s that have unknown amounts of hours. If you let them blow up is when you start missing the 2Ts of old 🤣 $,$$$.

  • @griffithracingteam2412

    I have thought seriously about trading my 300xcw for a 200. Power of a 250 weight of a 125. Close to it anyways. It pulled every bit as hard as my 250xc did when i had it. At least the one i rode did. That things cherry bro

    • @JohnHowerton137
      @JohnHowerton137  Před 3 lety +1

      Big open spaces the 300 has an advantage for sure, but those 200s are the sweet spot for us mortal humans. I bet the 150TPI bikes are pretty good too, but this 200SX pulls (250F like) way better than the newer 150SX I rode.

    How hard are these to find? Also could you give me recommendation for a 4 and 2 stroke for motocross/trail riding around Appalachian Mtn. areas? Not pro. or comp. just fun. My size is 5'6" 135lbs. I currently have a KLX300R that is my only transportation for 2 years. I want something more nimble/lighter for off road. Then get a real road bike for commuting. If you have ideas for a road bike as well lmk.

    • @JohnHowerton137
      @JohnHowerton137  Před 3 lety +1

      Not real easy to find, and not the bike you'd want for that. From the same era, a 200EXC would be a great bike for that, and the 200MXC would be ok as well (no lights).
      At your height and weight, any of the KTM Freeride models would be stellar! 250R (2T), 250F & 350F (4T). Little harder to find, but really light and the motors are detuned for technical trails. With a little money sunk into upgrades, the 230 line from Japanese mfgs are perfect for trail riding and very low main.
      As far as "real" street bikes go, I kind if like the Euro stuff. Triumph and such. Cool looks, practical, fast enough and handle well enough to be exciting, but not egging you on to kill yourself while pretending to be a GP racer on public roads.

    Isn't spare parts available for the 200sx? Couldn't you just buy the crank, rod, piston and cylinder as spare parts and put it on a 125?

    • @JohnHowerton137
      @JohnHowerton137  Před 3 lety

      Sure you probably could. Need the pipe too. Bit cost prohibitive, but def a cool engine.
