- Today we're taking you on a tasty Peruvian breakfast tour across the neighbourhood of Miraflores in Lima, Peru. During our visit to the city, we made it our mission to sample as many different breakfasts as possible. Some of the places we visited specialized in a more traditional Peruvian breakfast (pork and sweet potato sandwiches, tamales and chicken blood), while some had more of a colonial Spanish influence (churros and tortillas), and others had more of a contemporary menu (crepes with manjar blanco). We hope this video will give you an idea of the various breakfast foods you can find in Peru, because whether you prefer a sweet or savoury breakfast, there's something for everyone!

As a young man, I traveled to Peru in the 1970s for adventure. Miraflores became my 3 year home and I met my future wife as she sat on a park bench in Barranco. We are still together and love going back. We have been going to Manolo for the last 44 years. Seeing the two of you walking in Lima is like a mirror image of us at your age. Thank you. Muy rica la Lucha Sanguchera, pedí un sándwich de pavo a la leña con salsa criolla más un emoliente de maracuyá, todo eso me salió 22 soles. Estuvo delicioso.

I ate a Peruvian chicharron sandwich recently here locally in the Washington, DC area; and, it was a bit different than the one in this video. It was larger and dressed up more...with onions and sauce. I believe it was rocoto sauce. There was a slab of sweet potato in it also. Mine wasn't a breakfast item per se. Maybe, that accounted for the differences...particularly, size wise. But, from the looks of that chicharron sandwich from La Lucha Sangucheria Criolla, I could tell that it was good.

Always love your foodie vids..Must say, coming from Paisley Scotland, the blood stuff does not bother me...Blood Pudding equates to Black Pudding here....Pork Blood, Oats etc...The drier pudding is the more common, served in a baked bread roll with spicy brown sause...but my favourite version is Stornoway Black Pudding....Almost like a Sweet Fruit Pudding Taste....But I have started eating some Churro's with Tar like Hot Chocolate, just round the corner from my flat....thanks to you guys....Yum xxxx

Les cuento q Manolo es una tradicional churreria de la ciudad de Mar de Plata fundada a principios de siglo XX. Leadbelly is another Peruvian breakfast. I think it is favored mostly by younger men because it is so filling. They make a porridge or chic peas. Then they add garlic, onions, peppers, a raw egg, and mix it together. One bowl of that and you will be full until 6 pm.
You should go to the chinito in Miraflores you can find really good pan con chicharrón, apart from other types of typical Peruvian sandwiches

Next time you’re on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo, you definitely have to try the churro with chocolate syrup at Baby Salsa on 5th. They are amazing.

We have been a few times! We have videos on the channel from the time we walked the Inca Trail.
Originally chicharrones were the result of slow cooking the pork to extract the lard. Chunks on pork were place in a very large copper pot, and as the fat rendered it was scooped into containers. The pieces of meat were then taken out and seasoned with salt. The restaurants use techniques to replicate that since they are not in the lard production business

Are you now living in Peru or just visiting? If living in Lima it would be interesting if you did a video on what moving to Peru entails for a Canadian - for sure must be more involved than visiting as a tourist - also would be nice to get a tour of your apartment and what it is like doing routine shopping - how do prices compare in the supermarket compared to Canada. What is the variety like? What about banking and all that stuff? Can you have a bank account in Peru ? What about the cost of living ? Rental costs - cost of internet - mobile phone etc. How do they compare to Canada? Do you have jobs down there or is this blog your main source of income? I know some of these are personal questions but I am sure many of your viewers would be interested in knowing about this.

Nunca en mis 31 años oi hablar comer tortilla de papas , no es nada comun en peru, lo que comemos es papa rellena 😅 Tambien vi un pastel de papas de un pais europeo relleno de carne muy parecido al que hacen en argentina muy bueno eso tampoco hacemos aca.
