    Nice review as always. Why did you select the 100D over the 97/97D to include in your favorites? Was it due to its maneuverability, spin potential, or power?

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 10 měsíci +3

      97D is 320g so it’s off limits. 97 doesn’t plow through and it’s quite stiff. 100D is more maneuverable and forgiving and it offers pretty much the same (if any less) control.

  • @BenQ10
    @BenQ10 Před 10 měsíci +2

    Great content, as always!
    I’m not quite convinced the line-up needs both these rackets, but perhaps you can persuade me…
    Could a 100 not be made to play like the 100D just by using a thicker gauge string? (And vice versa?)

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I'm not sure but it could be. Imagine if I use 1.20 gauge on 100D (which I plan to do with tour bite soft 1.20). I think it will be more of an all court racket, spinnier and faster. So, the other way around should work, I guess.

    Great review! In terms of stability and predictability how would you compare it to the ezone 100 and the Head Speed MP? Im between these two for my racquet of choice

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I think Percept is more predictable, both 100 and 100D. They’re also lower power and control oriented. Stability I don’t think there’s a much differences tho, like I don’t feel like any of them have stability issues.

    I have been playing with the 100D for a month now. The improvement on my 2H backhand is insane. Similar feeling to what you described. It feels like you can hit through the ball, step in, and the ball does not sail.
    Also, I added 2.25 grams of led at 3 and 9 for some minor extra stability and it helps on the returns and volleys

      @@alng16wondering that myself. I don’t know why a baseline player would want a 💯 racquet anyway. I am guessing their answer is precision when they finally get a chance to hit a winner.

    Hi Tan, great video once again. I have another question for you if you don't mind. I just was able to play with a Ezone DR98 and would like to know how it compares to the 100D in all categories (touch, feel, stiffness, power, etc). THANKS!

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I think the DR98 has springy flex in the shaft and therefore make it less predictable. Not sure which one is more powerful because I didn’t play with them side-by-side. 100D is softer and more predictable and constantly hit deep ball, I can sense some precision feeling as well.

      Honestly the stiffness of puredrive is only the downside thing of it,
      But when i played with blade 100 v8, I found it hard to play with it cause it is not spin friendly plus the balance of it makes its heavier somehow, pure drive was really better to control cause I shot with avery topspin and its very stable as well, blade v8 also is stable at the net, but bad from baseline!

    I started to use the Percept 100 about 2 weeks ago. I have used an Ezone 98 for the last 2 years so it was always going to take a lot for me to consider a switch to a new frame, but just felt I could do with a little more control as sometimes the power / my technique would send it long with the Ezone. Apart from that I have loved the Ezone 98 and had no complaints at all with it. After only about 10 hours of play I decided to use the Percept in my next match, having my Ezone in the bag in case I had made a terrible mistake! Just to note this is first ever 100 inch frame so was slightly worried that I was making a backwards step. The Percept was amazing though and not once was I tempted to take the Ezone out of the bag. I certainly felt I had more control; my serves were more accurate. I hit more aces than I have ever hit in a match, just through placement rather than power / speed. I felt I could hit the angles with confidence and although I still sent a couple long (as we all do) as long as I got the top spin right the majority of deep shots fell in the court and I would say my error rate was a good 50% better for deep shots. I still think the Ezone has more power overall, but the Percept 100 frame is not lacking in power, and I had it strung at 50lbs to give me any power I was missing from the 98 inch frame. Also it’s a 16 / 19 pattern so I didn’t feel as if I lost any spin as top spin is a big part of my game. Still early days, but at the moment I cant see me moving back to the Ezone, so feels like my first major change in racket since the Ezone was released two years ago!!!

    Did you manage to find a perfect set up for this racquet? I tested a demo racquet and loved it a lot up to a point where i bought my own racquet with similar specs. The demo racquet had Poly Tour Rev, was initially strung with 25kg but i dont think it was 25kg when i got the chance to test. It was very soft, very powerful and consistent, i assume 20-22kg maybe. So i used the similar Poly Tour Rev but Mint and 22kg tension. The thing is it does not play like the demo one at all. I really dont like it, it feels unstable and my shots are very “thin” - they lack depth and spin… i really cant figure out why because tech specs are almost the same compared to the demo racquet.

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I don’t think it needs perfect setup as all the setups I played with so far works very well. Polytour pro, polytour fire, tour bite soft, Zero, Zero Wasabi hybrid. Maybe try the same tour rev like your demo racket. Different color can play a bit differently.

    • @tantennis
      @tantennis  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I think on natural groundstrokes, Percept has a bit higher launch angle. On the Whiteout, I have to lift the ball up a bit and then it’s fine. Spin and control I would say whiteout is better, but by margin. Yes Percept has better feel, it’s more solid and plush and pocketing, whiteout is firm and responsive and it doesn’t feel as good imo. But I don’t think it’s muted and dead.
