Wow you were on top of that super fast I just got the prize notification a little bit ago. Unfortunate people do this type of thing, I’m sure it sparked because your doing the 1000gallon giveaway sadly.
Ya....I've seen it far too many times. I either report them...or tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine...or both.
Damn so I didn't win the smoker and I paid $200 for the shipping smh
Love you having Joe Yim on this journey with you!
I live in Minnesota but visit Terry Black's 2 - 3 times a year. I love Terry Black's. Like I told Jeremy at Windy City Smokeout last year, Terry Black's is the BEST BBQ in Austin because:
1. They rarely sell out. You're going to get what you're looking for.
2. They do Beef Ribs 7 days a week. Not only on Weekends like most Austin BBQ places.
3. They food is the most consistent. I've NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL at Terry Black;s. I can't say that with other Austin BBQ joints.
4. The wait is usually quick.
This is why I tell anyone looking to experience Texas BBQ for the first time, skip Franklin's and go to Terry Black's.
I’m smoking one brisket right now and I’m tired…I have been at it since 7:00 pm last night, 10 hours in and just wrapped!
That's dedication. I gave that up and went to day cooks, then hold til lunch the next day. I get BBQ and sleep.
No shame in putting it in the oven 👍🏻
@@MadScientistBBQ you’re not only a bad ass pit master, you’re also a mind reader…I literally threw it in the oven right now!! 12 hours in the smoker just about, it’s at 170 internal, so finishing it in the oven because I need it rested and ready at 12:30.
@@burntendzzz also should give you a chance for some rest too 👍🏻
I want brisket in katy or houston. Any recommendations?
Absolutely...I was there several years ago and to this day, it's the best BBQ I've ever had. If you're in Austin, make sure you visit Terry Black's! And while you're in the neighborhood, also treat yourself to a swim at the local Barton Springs pool!
Then you dont get around much, its a tourist trap. Kinda suks.
This is awesome to see… going back to the roots. You reminiscing over your first experience with Blacks BBQ years ago saying “Man, I’ve been doing it all wrong” hit close to home, as this is the exact same thing I said when I had Heim’s bacon burnt ends for the first time on a trip to Fort Worth! As always, thanks for all the great content Jeremy 🤙
Loving the video travel logs you and Joe are on. Having a new appreciation for Joe, used his methods a few times and had great success. Becareful with all the sides, lol. Thank you, and keep them coming.
I always love your bbq joint vlogs! They are my absolute favorite videos to make too!
I loved your chuckles of pure excitement about when he sliced the meat for you 😂
Gunna be a professional Santa with all those ho ho hos lol
Everytime meat dropped on his tray he chuckled a lil.
Great video. Never been, so adding it to the list. And great discussion on balance - I’m learning more and more the wisdom of that especially with rich, fatty bbq
I love seeing the look of pure joy on Jeremy's face when he takes a bite of brisket 😊.
Great video love watching you cook and explain how
Terry Blacks was my first experience of true Texas BBQ and still holds that standard to this day, no one has been able to meet. Continued Success to them and looking forward to my next trip there
All I can say is you guys are livin the dream!
Absolutely loved TBs bbq in Austin. We def going back in June. Everybody was nice and took care of us. Peace.
I fell in love with BBQ because of Terry Blacks beef ribs. I had the same OMG moment of realizing I was doing BBQ all wrong! Thanks for the great video.
Terry Blacks is the place that I take people when they first come to Austin. It’s a great baseline to compare all the other great barbecue places to.
Love Terry Black's! Always great and consistent BBQ
Our first time at Terry Blacks was in April of 2023 and it was just as mind blowing as in this video. Absolutely perfect BBQ!!!!😊
Terry Black's is my favorite Austin BBQ joint (Snow's in Lexington & Louie Mueller's in Taylor are my favorites just outside of Austin). The location was also home to my favorite Italian restaurant back in the early 2000s. Ahh, so much good food and so many good memories in Austin.
They have one in Dallas, too… just 27 minutes away. Got to try this…. Joe looked sooooo young in the YT video you linked to, just 4 years ago!
Had watched a couple of videos and wasn’t sure if I was going to subscribe, but once you said you were from Kentucky I had to hit that button! Hello from Owensboro!
Hey Jeremy! Thanks for your recent tour of Texas and KC! I’ll be heading to Dallas next week and was wondering who’s BBQ you preferred, Terry Blacks or Goldee’s? I’ll only have enough time to try one , since my host and I will be having a smoke fest at his place in Waxahachie! Thanks again!!
My wife and I avoided Black’s when we went to Austin, because we had done Terry Black’s in Lockhart.
It was during covid, so Franklin’s had like a 3lb minimum or something per item (if I remember correctly), so we went to Stiles Switch across town from Black’s. Now I’m in regret. Looks like a much better tray than what I had in Lockhart.
It was one of the best experiences I had when we had gone. As well as Cattleack BBQ in Dallas.
I want to visit Tootsie at Snow’s bbq before she puts it up!
Oh, damn. Blacks is the same place I went to the first time I had a Texas Barbeque. It was life altering. It was an experience. It blew me away.
I recently came back to Texas for work and had a crew of guys with me, and they had heard me talk about it. They were dubious about my praises until we had a team meal and I brought them there.
I made believers out of those boys.
And now when we see each other, they bring it up with reverence.
That brisket is unreal.
Thank you. Enjoyed this food & atmosphere video.
I also need to go to Texas there’s great BBQ everywhere. Great video Jeremy and Joe!!!
TBs has been one of my favs over the last 15 years. Hard to beat. Hope social media doesnt ruined them or Texas style as we know it today.
joe.. my mine.. hello when i lived in texas in 1993 never had so many bbq places.. so nice to see some..
I worked the pits there for a little while. The twins who own Terry Blacks are very genuine and awesome folks.
Do they rest in tallow?
So Terry doesn’t own it?
Most of the Austin hype BBQ restaurants are a PITA - no parking, long lines, run out of meat, closed multiple days of the week. They’re not worth the headache. Just go to Terry Blacks on your schedule, eat great BBQ, and spend your extra time enjoying the rest of what Austin has to offer.
Great spot, and you don't have to do the 6am line thing. Definitely making me hungry just watching this series of videos.
Fire craft BBQ in Houston is a real sleeper. If you get within 1 hour of town you owe it to yourself to go. Brisket, ribs, sausage, spoon bread, gouda mac.
Heading to Blacks in a week. Can’t wait to experience it.
I’ve been watching your channel for years. Mother’s Day coming up I need to cook 1 pork shoulder for BBQ and some spareribs all by 12pm. Can I do the shoulder the day before and how should I reheat it? All the help much appreciated. I’ve been a supporter for years and everyone says your the only one who would respond and help.
Thanks I’m advance
Would love to see you do a video using a XL Big Green Egg as many briskets or pork buts you can fit on the Egg . Would love to see your technique s . I have three big green eggs, did have an Outlaw Patio Model stick burner but just don’t have enough room until I get my other patio built. I do a lot of catering and donated fundraisers, and church.
Great atmosphere! Love the Kevin Fowler 'Beer, Bait, and Ammo' playing in the background!
Wish I had seen this video 2 weeks ago! I had a business trip in Austin and totally would have loved to go here. Went to Franklin's but were told they would be out of brisket by the time we got to the counter (in line at 11:30). Next time...Terry Black's!
Still the best pork ribs I've had so far. Also, not to be weird, our butts have shared that same seat
Love this video! I am from Texas but live in Louisville right now! I’ve been to terry blacks and it’s as incredible as you say. Just got my own offset smoker up here and going to start getting back into smoking!
My mind blowing bbq experience was Terry Blacks in Dallas. I think it blows Goldie’s BBQ away and I can go to both living in Ft Worth.
Came here last year and it was incredible. The sides can use a little work but the actual bbq was just insane.
A little work???? the worst in TEXAS
The sides are fire. Corn was amazing
Have you ever done a top 5 texas bbq video ? That would be great!
There's no doubt that Terry Black's is very good. One thing people should know is that there is a lot of REALLY good BBQ in Texas, and it isn't really accurate to say that one place is leagues better than the rest. But there are a lot of bad BBQ spots too, so beware!
As a trucker based in Texas, I've been to quite a few BBQ places. Most of it has been very good, but I learned quickly that the chains (such as Dickey's and Rudy's) are, well, commodity grade. If a place has been open a few years, it has to be at least decent, because there are so many GOOD places around.
I've been wanting to try Black's, but there's no place to park a truck...
I ate from this exact Blacks for Thanksgiving in 2021. Love that place
Just ate there 2 weeks ago, so freaking good. Love the slaw, potato salad and pinto beans, too. Banana pudding was scrumptious!
When we lived in Dallas I used to stop at Terry Blacks in Deep Ellum after work and get two brontosaurus ribs to take home. The BEST!!
I'd love to see a comparison video between Terry Blacks and Franklin. I have yet to have Franklin but i had Terry Blacks and Goldees and for me Terry Blacks took the cake.
Damn! This was one of the highest level discussions about BBQ. Not just a BBQ talk but a high level culinary discussion. I have a culinary degree, worked in some pretty good places over the years, and have competed on the BBQ circuit. I have competed in the American Royal, The Jack and have won a handful of State championships. This reminded me of discussions with Tuffy Stone, Myron Mixon, and so many others out on the circuit. I was so engaged and also now I am craving really good BBQ.
Can't wait to see your KC BBQ videos! We've got just a few places to choose from. :)
Nobody ever gets the creamed corn. That's my favorite side at Terry Black's!
I had one of Texas Monthly's top BBQ places, and though it was pretty awesome, my favorite place ended up being somewhere else. Out of countless BBQ places I've been to, 225° Urban Smoke in San Antonio, Tx is my favorite BBQ place. If anyone has a chance, try it, especially for the brisket. Awesome episode, keep up the great work. 👍
Any other recommendations for places to eat in San Antonio?

Just had TB this past March. Best I ever had!
I have hit many BBQ places in Austin. Black's is my favorite! Especially the beef ribs. On my last business trip I hit Black's 3 times.
I love the old school legitimacy of Blacks! Great video…just wish I could taste it 👍🏻😁!
Terry Blacks is the local goto place. Very few people from Austin go to places like Franklins since it's just a tourist attraction. The joint came from Blacks from Lockhart so it has the traditional east Texas bbq style blended with newer stuff.
I finally got into TB’s for the first time today. Holy cow, what amazing bbq. I hate to admit it, but I liked that cheddar jalapeño sausage more than anything else. It was the best thing I’ve ever tasted.
I enjoy this duo, it works
This is great!! I was there two weeks ago, went there the first evening as tourists from the Netherlands. Would have been great to spot you there 👌🏼
Awesome video, I need to go on a Texas bbq trip.
Yes we do
@@jamesgunn5358 😂 I’m game!
on my CZcams channel i do food reviews while I’m super high 🙇♂️
On the road (show)...awesome that you took my advice. Nice job!
My favorite bbq spot! I have their bbq sauces in my fridge right now and I live in Florida
Lol; I feel you! Im the same way when it comes to sauce
Hopefully you can get to the original Blacks BBQ in Lockhart Tx, just outside of Austin. There's also a couple other really really old barbecue establishments there that you might as well hit up while in town
Excellent Review… Thanks Gents!
That makes me want to drive to Austin right now!! Omg I'm starving
After over a decade living in Austin. TB and Stiles and Switch always were my go-to spots for great bbq being done at scale.
Have you been to Micklethwait or Interstellar?
@@dakotamaddux9696 I got married at Micklethwait. Haven’t hit interstellar yet.
@@natetrout1 bro that’s solid haha we’re from down in Victoria. We ran up one morning to try La Barbecue and it was slammed. So I wandered over to Micklethwaite and was pleasantly surprised. Tbh it was better than T Blacks on the day I went.
how did you not start with the beef ribs? those changed my life at Terry Blacks... Jalapeno sausage was incredible. You have to do the brisket pull for the vid too :)
I was just in Austin! I’ll be back in June too I just missed you
Inhave actually been here and its fantastic! Their ribs were 🤯 i talked to the pit master and he did share a few tips that they use!great place.
2 of my favorite channels at bucket list kind of place. Jeremy you should come to NC for some Que. My grandmother was a Yoder so who knows.....I'll show you around.
Next time you're in town, stop by Valentinas in south Austin. They do a Tex-Mex spun on their BBQ, along with traditional. Has specials during the week like smoked burgers and smoked fideo with beans and a slab of brisketnon top. Flour tortillas are homemade and made with beef talo
Great video
Do a video on how to replicate their ribs and brisket please
Lockhart, Texas has the Best BBQ in the State
Terry Blacks is #1 in my book! Banana pudding is chefs kiss also
By getting in line at 6 a.m., you mean Franklin's BBQ!
As an Asian American, when people say Western or American food is "bland", I always point them to Texas brisket or Popeye's fried chicken. If you've had the spices and seasonings of these food, there's no way you'd ever call American food bland. These are examples of PERFECT spicing on par with any type of Southeast or South Asian spices.
Tex-Mex is really good... and spicy.
I got up this morning at 4am to start brisket. I can't imagine doing it every day.
Man that is wild 200 plus Brisket A-day as unimaginable Thank you for this information 😎
Terry Blacks is the baseline for BBQ in Austin, you won't be disappointed but you also won't see anything crazy. It's the best place to judge other BBQ spots off of. It is also one of the only BBQ spots in Austin that you will be able to eat dinner at due to the volume they make.
Base line? More like the bottom of barrel basic.
My favorite BBQ in Austin area is Valentina's. The brisket tacos are fantastic. Everytime I'm in Austin I have to go.
I was there on Wednesday, the BBQ there is phenomenal. The beef rib might have been my favorite but the fatty brisket was melt in your mouth. Only complaint was that they have a slightly heavy hand on the pepper in my opinion. But that’s barely a complaint. A 5 star BBQ
Had dinner there the other night. It was incredible. 👍
I love Terry Black's in Dallas.
I really need to get to Austin, great video.
My first Texas BBQ spot too!
Hearing Waylon the background puts the chefs kiss on it!
TBs my favorite in Austin. Love the meats and the sides. My boy always wanted one of those beef ribs, finally bought him one once! He felt like a caveman eating a brontosaurus!
I worked near there a while back off Barton skyway. came here all the time lol
Definitely come to Houston I’ll take you to truth my treat!
You need to do a review of Mad Jack's BBQ over in Cloudcroft New Mexico. Best brisket ever!
I’m admittedly an impatient person and don’t like standing in long lines waiting to eat but I expect some really good bbq. Sounds like Blacks is a place I need to try.
Terry Blacks is where I would go when I lived in Austin. If you're not willing to wait in a long line, it's the place to go.
I worked within walking distance. I ate there right after they opened. Very good. Love sitting outside. You also need to try Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, Texas (about 30 mins outside of Austin). Related to LeAnn Mueller from LA Barbecue
I just moved to Texas a year ago and my first stop was pecan lodge which was out of this world delicious . I keep hearing about terry blacks and Goldie’s bbq , are they really that good guys /ladies ??
Terry Black's is really good. I haven't been to Franklin but to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time TBs for the win!
You need to try Pinkerton’s BBQ in Houston tx!!
I had TB's in San Antonio. Pretty good overall. The ribs were a little to peppery for my taste but the brisket was on point.
New Braunfels you mean? When I’m SA go try 2Ms bbq or Burnt bean in Seguin.
Jeremy, if you are ever in the northeastern area of Pennsylvania there is a BBQ place you need to try. Its called Joe Boscos Authentic Smokehouse BBQ, in Deleware water gap Pennsylvania. I know Pennsylvania is not known for great BBQ but these people really take pride in bringing some of the best styles of BBQ to the Pocono Mountains! They really do it right! They do Texas style brisket, really good pulled pork, really good ribs and sausage. The only thing they dont have are beef ribs because here in Pennsylvania the price for them is just outrageous. The sides are some of the best ive had at any BBQ place and ive eaten at all of the major names. I think you would like it enough to make a video of them and it would be interesting because its Pennsylvania... Come on.. most Pennsylvanians idea of BBQ is hotdogs and hamburgers! God bless! If your travels ever bring you to this area, you definitely wouldnt be disappointed.
Looks awesome
Louie Muellers in Taylor just NE of Austin has the best brisket I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot of brisket and my dad was a badass brisket smoker when I was a kid! It was perfect in absolutely every way! I personally would have never went there because I’m a Lockhart kinda guy but I was riding with someone else to go inspect a car so I kept my mouth shut because he was buying.......it was unbelievable!
