A guide on farming the entire Fatalis set without needing to actually beat the monster - as you can see, I have the full set on this save despite not having beat the special assignment yet. Once you've made this set, the fight is immediately easier because of how meta it is, and how many defensive skills you can fit on top of the increased DPS skills. If you're really struggling, this might be the video for you!
We use a mixture of plunderblade cheese and sleep bombing runs to get EVERY fatalis drops - cortex, shards, pectus, hardhorns, direwings and even evil eyes. It took me around 4 hours to farm, but alot of that time was spent set building and trying out different strategies - it should take you an hour tops to get the wings and horns, and maybe another hour or two for the evil eyes

Spreadsheet info:
I have a spreadsheet which collects all sorts of data on Monster Hunter World Iceborne that people ask about a lot - things like the materials needed to upgrade the best charms (e.g. handicraft, expert etc), a list of all the guiding land monster drops and gathering nodes (plus it's searchable), what materials you need for every possible augment (attack, affinity, defence, health, slot, element/status) in the game, etc:

It also includes things like a list of ALL the 4 slot decorations (including even the rare 12 ones which ONLY drop from sealed feystones) so you know the best deco's to aim for when farming. It even has detailed images for the guiding land gathering nodes (the one's that drop materials like the guiding dragonbones/crystals etc) which you need for custom weapon upgrades/augments!
My list of guiding land drops can be sorted either by drop type (so it finds the monster to fight for a particular part) or you can use it to just find the parts belonging to any monster (no more pulling your hair out over how to get those Enchanting Finehide/Trancehide for your health augments!). This goes up to and includes the tempered elders (speaking of which, check out my 5 slot tempered investigation farming macro if you haven't already!)
It also has a Safi'Jiiva relic checklist to easily monitor which awakened weapons you're missing from the new siege!

Aqua isnt good for sleep, im just lazy. Use beo instead. Also aug for ele up on the lbg
Soften head before flinch shots for extra part damage
If you dont get the horn break after roaming, go for another sleep or two
If you STILL haven't broke the head, swap to a DPS set or stickies and use the 2 binders
What do you mean saw this as an ad? Also, you really should start doing at least one ad
Don't mean to hijack the pinned comment, but the roaming ballista, if you can get it, can break both wings with heavy artillery. And then use temporal and regular ballistae if you can't do it in time
@@aidanbieszk2341 that means you need to get to phase two at least though. If you were to just do wing runs, you can break it during phase 1
@@frostfire827 good point. This doesn't mean you're wrong, but I believe it's better to hit phase 2 and practice breaking the horn(s) too, and the ballista just gets the wings while you're at it. Especially using the opening, phase 2 is consistent for anybody I think.
@@aidanbieszk2341 true if you are practicing for the fight, but if you are spamming missions for evil eye, you'd want to run for those parts separately.
Easiest way to plunderblade:
Ghillie mantle before you enter, crouch walk right up to his belly, use plunderblade and palarang (might take a few tries since you might miss, there's no active target after all, that's why you stand so close) don't move much and ghillie will last all 4 plunderblades, then leave the quest! Literally 0 fighting! After each palaramg he might do like one fire blast, just scooch out of the way.

@@marukocore Abandon quest makes it as if you never started rhe quest, meaning you lose and breaks or plunders. You use this option when you're trying to win, wasted a bunch of items like mega armor skins and max potions, but carted a bunch right away and you just know you're not going to make it, thus you get those items back.
Leave quest you get to keep anything you've acquired, like breaks and plunders, but still lose anything you used so far. So it's definitely the option you need to use for this farming method.
You can also farcaster/faint on purpose to get back to camp, run in the tent, swap the palico tool to anything else then right back to plunderblade, this will reset the cool down. You'll get good at doing this quickly.
I still haven't beaten the special assignment, so I run out with gillie, plunder, faint, reset palico cool down, run in with temporal, plunder, take it off and faint, have tool charging skills equipped so gillie ready again, repeat. Or honestly even just run out there without a mantle and circle him spamming the palico plunderblade tool until he does it, then faint, etc. Gets all 4 plunders in about 4 minutes. Leave quest and repeat. I just need one more eye...

Just an FYI but RNG is RNG. It took me 6 hours and around 300 plunders to get my final Evil Eye. For some people maybe they will get 3 in a row. It's all luck of the draw.

Just did fatalis for the first time, got my butt thoroughly kicked, but when all hope was lost and I failed the special assignment I noticed that my palico plundered an evil eye. There is light in the darkness!
How long did it take for you to get the evil eye?
Can you get the weapon too with this method?

As always CONS a really good video to help those of us who struggle with monsters. i was struggling to get to the tent to get rid of the NPC. If the NPC is there then sometimes Fatalis ends up hitting you with a fire attack while you are trying to load and set the cannons. Now i am focusing on getting 3 horns horns and i need two more evil eyes but thanks to you i got a plan and two pieces of the beast's armor!

I legit had to take a break from MHW simply because i was so frustrated and upset that i can't get 1x Fatalis Evil Eye. I never thought about do it this way. Thanks m8 you've earned a new sub

Two pointers:
- For the wings, pre-load wyvernheart on an HBG before flying down, then when Fatalis falls to the second cannon stay on the platform, run to the right, and fire down a full load of wyvernheart on the wings. You'll get at least one break every time in my testing.
- For the head, use the cannon opening and take advantage of his downtime to get full power-up on a switchaxe (focus, power prolonger, health regen augment), then elemental discharge his head into oblivion. With health regen, and such easy mounting on Fatalis, you can reliably get perfect or near-perfect DPS out of elemental discharge right on his head at the start of every fight, bringing you right into the roaming balista phase. Farcast out if you really want to do sleep GBs, or just balista and *maybe* one more run at elemental discharge with a single charge will do it.
A lot of people have suggested GS clutch attacks, but it seems only the last hit of GS clutch does part damage, and in my testing took way longer to get the break than switchaxe.
@Shasvin Puvanesvaran fatalis doesn't take part damage from flinch shots unless his head has been tenderized. The only reason to flinch shot is to force phase 2 to get to the ballista

Thanks for the guide Cons! I've actually been doing a much less optimal version between this and Alatreon since yesterday (had to use the internet at my brother's house to update). So, needless to say, my issue is less getting gear to beat Fatalis, but farming all the gear without killing him because i can only fight him the once (no web, no events, damn). Also, i had no idea you could reset the plunderblade like that. I really appreciate it.

Thank you Cons!! I am currently struggling with fatty. I can usually get him past the 50% mark. Got him to about 20% one time. Your videos have helped me with strats and convinced me to level up my frostcraft set, which is really helping me. I was being stubborn and didn’t want to switch from my MT/rage daddy meta set...it wasn’t working well. I’m gonna plunder blade, while I try to get good, to get some evil eyes. Once I get his armor and hopefully a shiny new great sword I should be practiced enough to be able to take him down.

Great video, you're light years beyond what I can understand but communicated enough such that I could create a part-breaking plunder blade return from Expedition set. Wow, some of you Hunters are SOOOO much next level skilled than me. That's what makes MHW great, all can enjoy it. I ended up nabbing enough for 2 parts before actually getting my first clear, hopefully this strategy helps other players clear him as well. The set and weapons are some of the best in the game, but it's still rewarding to clear, so don't give up, hunters!
Fatalis armour is the best armour in the game.
Nothing can really compete with this set

I finally got a horn. I had to change the set a bit since i don't have sleep 4 jewels. I swapped out the kiirin chest for the fatalis one for just enough slots while switching the crit eye investment to tenderizer for the sake of slots. Used the beo gun to get sleeps easier and ate for the pyro skill for better bombs
Update, had a nearly flawless run. Swapped felyne pyro for bombardier for better roaming ballista damage. Also used the binder to get easy face shots on him. Only mistake was standing too close to my bombs on sleep 2 and nearly missed the wall shot opportunity. One more for the armor
Update 2. Got all the horns. Now to farm eyes and coal and I got all the armor. Thanks so much cons

I used plunderblade and broke his head twice so I made the belt the arms and the head before killing him. I switched my palico to bombing with the gajalaka tool and killed him in 28 min first kill.
Did you get cortex playing with your palico? I already killed fatalis 2 times but its hard and i need more cortex, im ok with the rest of materials.

On "phase 3", I've been able to get about 3 plunders per 3 minutes with this idea, where you are using the super OP dragon pods to play interference to support your palico. I think this is more efficient than the general method of flinching a lot for other drops since it doesn't look like regular shinys can get an evil eye,and a lot of times the Palico will be slowed down by Fatalis' attacks. Here *we* are the palico and your pet must be the hunter, just like his new weapon suggests.
Start with a light weapon, stone thrower secret, iron mantle + temporal, and max Palico Rally and as much defense as you can get. Then:
- Cast iron mantle before heading down. Call the Plunderblade at the earliest moment while running to the closest stones, then double-flinch Fatalis for a wall bang.
- With a light weapon, clutch attack Fatalis for 9 dragon pods.
- Proceed to call the Palico for Plunderblade and Plunderang (do not use the mounting one), while continuously pelting Fatalis when it looks like he's going to get a hit off.
- Once both casts are done, hopefully with an extra 'auto' one, either self-die (if Fatalis is about to do something to cart you) or farcast out of it.
- Do the Palico re-equip thing once, and if you used you're out of farcast resupply here in the tent.
- On second run, keep pelting with the dragon pods and calling the two Palico abilities until both are used.
- Return from quest *unless* you know you have no more than 2 plunders (pay close attention to the cat, whether he drops a shiny or just gets the item himself). If 2 or less, farcast as above.

@@ConsOA With some more testing, I've found that if eyes are your target it ends up being more efficient to whistle for just the plunderblade and farcast back as soon as it's done. With a chance at a double-plunder, I'm averaging about 3 per ~2:30 run, sometimes 4 (double the 4 per 5m estimate listed there)

If you needed a guide to build the set without completing the quest you re a fucking random too
Some more niche advice:
place bombs in front of the cannons, Fatalis will run into them on his scripted attack and explode them.
A regular GS set will be better for the opener. lvl 1, lvl 3, TCS if you have full focus and position fast enough. go for 2 lvl 1s into TCS if unsure. The TCS has a 1.3x partbreak modifier, on top of doing more damage than draw attack spam.

@@kangacookie1197 just high dmg with partbreaker and heavy artillery(can put this on a random mantle if you need) added. Just take a meta GS set and adjust it to those needs. It's super easy to fit everything if you use fatalis gear obviously. Otherwise drop some comfort skills, and just farcaster after ghillie strat to go to your set of choice anyway.
all great advice! but do the bombs proc on the head or like the chest? if its the latter, i dont see the point, otherwise id recommend it for sure

When you go into second phase use your mantle to hide, grab the binder near you and move the roaming ballista all the way to the left and tether fatty. Then just run to the ballista and enjoy free headshots

I beat him 5 times. No evil eye. Mean while my Palico just calls me a scrub and pulls evil eyes for me. Wtf. Also it took my 2 hours to get 3 eyes

I almost had it. But my he used ocean of flame attack while I was on the roaming ballista
Progress update: I got to the same place. Smacked him up with the ballista and saw a break and him fall. Got excited and returned to base. Turns out I got a wing because I apparently clipped it with the ballista and didn't check even though I had plenty of time/faints. I'm my own worst enemy
that actually happened to me once too lol, the wing break confusion
i stay kinda close to back legs but it varies, i get killed often too tho so dont worry. 6 carts with safeguard means its not a big deal (4 on the event)
Swap is a good dps weapon or like stickies or something and use the two binders if you've used the roaming and not been able to finish it off. Each binder with my standard GS set is worth >2000 damage, even more if you play TCS style, so should be more than enough. Make sure you have heavy artillery when you're using cannons and roaming
after he does first flame you can grab the binder near barricade, drop a smoke bomb at the roaming ballista and fire away and it takes him forever to spot you. saw a LBG speedrunner using this

I want to thank to you con A. Your farming is actually work, I can confirm for the one who doesn’t have Fatalis gear yet and want to farm . But you have to be calm and patient. Your patience is worth it for ultimate armor set and weapon. I also recommend this to my friend and he finally get full Fatalis armor and true insect glaive while he still in assignment quest without winning.
For the record he'll ya I'm failing at him almost can beat him but I fall short now I'm going after evil eye's this way thank you

For wing u can actually break 1 with cannons alone if positioned properly
Even when a bit off one or 2 hits with a weapon can finish it. I've accidently destroyed the wing countless times.
And even if you don't immediately break the wings with the cannons, with two ranks of heavy artillery, you'll knock fatalis down for some easy weapon damage on the wings to finish them off! With cannons, a bit of melee, and the first ballistae I managed to break both wings in the first five minutes of the fight.

A small disclaimer: Fatalis set makes the hunt easier IF you have the decorations to sustain it.
Otherwise Fatalis set does have a weakness to fire, which is not going to help you much.
i didn’t put fire resistance, I used devine blessing secret, because even with 50-60 fire defence he can still 2 shots you, in the final phase he can one shot you.
That's why I slot 2 Resistor/Evasion Jewels then a Phoenix/Evasion jewel for one level of juicy Coalescence. Fireblight me MF. That's what I want lol
With the Standard Meta Set (4p Fatalis and Kulve legs) you get 0 fire resistance so it’s fine.

People like them really soured my time with the game when Alatreon came along and now I'm just wanting to cheese this one cus I'll be damned if I let more elitists ruin my fun. Great guide cons, really clear and should help a lot of people struggling. I did basically exactly this to get my undergeard alt his first clear :D
Just a quick caution here: most people don't realize that the fatal set has -1 fire rez on each of its pieces, so even with a hard fire rez jewel (+20) you will be 4 FR short of having 20 rez (no blights) when you swap to 4pc Fatalis. for this reason, I believe the best 5th piece is the KT b legs (or KT a Waist for stickies) because the piece comes with +4 fire rez and has endgame slot efficiency; pushing you to a flat 20 and fireblight immune. I've seen a lot of people say that the fight gets harder with the gear and I'm thinking this is why.
Edit: I've already seen builds using the Fatalis alpha chest and waist, and a LS run with the Alpha gloves, so we are going to end up farming pretty much the whole thing. Happy Hunting all.
it's not supposed to get harder as you can slot in divine blessing lvl 5 with the other offensive skills

@@piruchiruchi it works, but thats 2 extra 4 slots, it seems like a lot of commitment when you can just run KT, or run Alatreon B legs with 1 Hard def. personally i would like to have a Evasion 2 or AB/AGI over having just a little more armor.
@@CuttyFlam2000 my counter-build already had DB5 (Goldie) so by reducing the fire rez from 34 to 20 I ended up taking 14% more fire damage, and the fire damage is what I generally see people die to.
KT chest is great as well, 4 fire res and speed eating 3

I got 4 Hearts from 1 Quest. You only have to do the double aggressive Rajang Quest in Arena.

This means he farmed it 253 times? be realistic it's obviously cheat but it's not such a problem as long as it ruins her experience and not mine
My advice after killing this annoying monster for everyone. Essential items. Devine blessing secret for less one shot deaths. Slinger capacity 1 deco or more for 2 claw throws, one to put him on his feet other to follow up with head wall throw. Learn how to use ghillie mantle at the beginning to position cannons to knock out stun fatalis, use right-hand cannon first to get fatalis attention to run up to you than switch to left-hand cannon to knock him out. Use a lbg build in the beginning to put him to sleep and barrel bomb him and landmines than immediately wall throw him. At 2nd phase after you do a lot of damage to him run into the castle safety area to keep him close to your exit when he does his ultimate move. Save the ballista stuns for final phase. Use the dragonator and rolling ballista gatling gun on his head to break his head quicker. Keep an eye out in your minimap if it shows a yellow eye that means you can wall throw him. wall throwing does massive damage. The faster you break his head the less damage his final form does. I just barely killed this scumbag a second time I had to write an essay for everyone else's benefit. Good luck all.

additional tip, if you miss with the canons go to the balista and 2-3 shots to the chest with full heavy artillery should put fatalis down

I killed him 4 times now with 4 single horn breaks and got 1 Evil eye from quest rewards ... so yeah takes awhile unless somebody comes up with a consistant solo method to get double hornbreak.

@@trapper1211 I actually did that 3 times and got the first break with partbreaker shortly before he goes for the doornova. He dies before his 2nd horn breaks. Feels like almost all of your damage has to go to his head then to get it.

I used to sleep bomb monsters to death in the base game, so had a bit of fun going after Fatalis with the Steam set. Heavy Artillery +Artillery +Bombardier Secret & Part Breaker
Also to say: the randoms in the event quest most are muuuuch better :) I finally cleared him 4 times now with a random group

i’m so lucky, i joined a random hunt with 3 pros who just wiped the floor with alatreon and now i can do this to get fatalis armour. i’m not a hunter i’m a rat and a very lucky one at that

@@sadpineapple9 I doubt it. If I'm able to get all the drops from farming then there's no need to kill it. Afaik there's no unique mat for killing it, they're available even from Plunderblade.

I just wanted to thank you for putting this video out. As a PS4 player without PS+, hunting monsters designed specifically for multiplayer like Safi, Alatreon or Fatalis is really difficult. Especially since the best gear is locked behind those monsters. The idea of leaving these quests unresolved like that never sat right with me. I'm glad I stumbled upon your video, because it quite literally gave me the hope I could actually beat them.
I just finished Plunderblading the last remaining Evil Eye so I'll be able to make the full set very soon. It took me about 8hrs to get all 3.
For the Horn Breaks, I used a Crit Draw Greatsword set, even though I don't normally play Greatsword, it was relatively easy. 20-25 min to break the head, but that's because I'm not that good at baiting cones and I didn't have Frostcraft.

Definitely keep at the hunt, it might take a while but I know you'll get it, especially if you take some time to put together the set, get a fatalis weapon (if your preferred weapon benefits from it), and grind some solid decos and augment materials. Fatalis really is the final boss of this whole game, and the game wants you to prepare for it by exploring every avenue of advantage. From there it's just a matter of practising it until you get its moves down. Good luck on the hunt!

You need a horn for the armor to appear in the smithy's inventory and an Evil Eye for the weapons to show up. Great guide!
i dont think you need a horn for this but . i have no horns yet but got an evil eye on like my third run with plunderblade so i think that (the evil eye) triggered the armor and now i have the waist and legs. just need the damn horns
