    I had a Bri Mar dump trailer, which was not made as well as the Sure-trac. Chris tony may want to insulate the metal box with the battery and hydraulic fluid. Your winters are colder than most and that hoist is moving slow now, it’s only going to get worse during the winter. You get what you pay for with trailers, powder coat, thicker steel, telescopic hoist, and it looks like Sure-trac makes a great trailer. The one thing that Tony didn’t mention is you have to have a truck that can legally tow that trailer. A half ton truck is not going to cut it. You would need at least a 3/4 ton HD to pull that trailer. Looks like Tony has saved his pennies over the years because he has all the fun toys and a wife that lets him do it. 😎

    That's a nice trailer, I'm impressed with all of the zerk fittings: a trailer built for people who like to take care of their stuff. I have a 6-watt solar battery charger mounted on the top of the "toolbox" of my 12' 5-ton dump trailer, it's enough to ensure the battery is always "topped-up" and ready to go...not expensive, maintenance free, and the trailer doesn't have to be plugged-in or connected-up to anything to use the dump feature. And no, you don't need to live in Florida for a solar charger to function properly.

      @Seather. What breed is your 16’er? Ours is a PJ. Scissor Hoist. I’m not dazzled with the dumping capacity. I’ve had to shovel out the front to get it to begin to hoist... It wasn’t overloaded either. I bought the 16’ primarily to haul our compact tractors as well as mulch and stone. What’s your impression of yours? Thanks

    • @seather863
      @seather863 Před 3 lety +1

      @@sawsurgeon Load Trail with a scissor lift. I've loaded to the maximum capacity many times and never has an issue with dumping. I also wanted a trailer for material plus hauling my tractor with the skidding winch on the 3 point. The 14' was too short. I can fit 5 facecords in it with the standard 2 foot sides. I have squeezed 6 facecords in there a couple times, its high though 👍.

    2nd time watch this video. Some thoughts i had this time around. Safety chain for loading skid steer should be painted bright pink 😉 or orange or something and also chris when dumping the trailer outside the vehicle you should use wheel chocks to save on the transmission(truck rolling forward). The nitrogen in the tires is also supposed to be a bigger molecule than air so it won't leak out "as fast".

    Good morning Chris and Tony!!😀😀
    That is a really nice trailer.
    I wouldn't want to only have a half ton truck if I were to be hauling 2 full cords of wood in it.
    I'm going to get one like it one of these days but I would like a 14 foot long one so my tractor will fit in it.
    Chris, I don't believe that your tractor will fit in a 12 foot either. I measured my Mahindra and I need at least a 14 foot long and I do believe that you can't legally haul it in it because of the loader having to hang over one end or the other.
    That's why I'm probably going to keep my 30 foot goose neck for hauling my tractors around. I'm sure I could put your tractor and mine both on at the same time if we wanted.
    If you do get a new trailer don't sell your old one without letting me know.

    One of the main reasons they put nitrogen in tires, is pressure! It maintains a constant pressure, the pressure stays the same. When tires heat up in hot weather, it builds pressure, with nitrogen it does not do that. That is why they use it in aircraft tires, changing altitudes. But on the other side, air is over 70% nitrogen to start with, so there your are! I hauled liquid nitrogen for over 33 years, in the liquid state, about 6500 gallons at a time. FYI it is -320 degrees in liquid state, and will burn you faster than fire!

    i gots to be honest that thing is a POS, the metal looks chinese and it should have a pintle hitch, that’s the only truly safe way to haul any kind of weight, and the hoist is junk with that triple extension system, that will leak really soon, only buy a trailer with a scissor lift setup… that’s all i got to say about that!

    • @njonebale7889
      @njonebale7889 Před 3 lety

      i have one from 2008 from these amish people in pennsylvania it’s called a “pequea “, it’s a lot lower profile to the ground with a scissor lift and it’s still doing it, have a buddy who has the suretrac with the triple stage cylinder and his stuff is leaking from the seals already due to dumping on on uneven ground, that’s why i’m not a fan of those type of trailers , think its a 2014 or 2016, my old scissor lift is dry and always goes up no matter what’s in it, just my 2 cents though.
