The Wisconsin GOP has a new scheme: remove the state’s top elections official and impeach newly-elected state Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz. Why? So they can cling to majority rule with minority support and avoid accountability. Democratic Leader of the Wisconsin Assembly Rep. Greta Neubauer explains what’s going on, why Republicans are doing this and what she thinks will happen.

@radiobikini6429 Well, Hitler was appointed (not elected by the ppl) in 1933... had a 9 year reign. I grew up in Germany, and my grandmother always told me that Hitler showed fake videos about concentration camps...where people looked happy etc. Many had no ideas about what he was actually doing until too late.
With Trump, we know what he wants to do. We still have the power to get him out of politics forever and crush MAGA. I know there will be another trump-type following him, but at least we know what we are fighting against and fighting for. It's all in the open!
Hard to win against Cheaters! Honor, handshakes and giving your word do not work against Cheaters who are hell-bent on destroying our government!

Representative Neubauer is certainly one of the most impressive young politicians I have ever listened to. Wisconsin Democrats are also blessed with Ben Wikler. They inspire confidence.

I have my fears as a 71-year-old who has seen so much over the Decades of how much rational thinking is left. The Republicans have done their best to demoralize the country and bring fear to us and to decrease the level of Education. Remember that Trump's appointment of Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos really wanted to end the entire department of education and go entirely to private schools

The election of Justice Janet Protasiewicz to the Supreme Court, and the battle to block Republican efforts to minimize her term with strong Wisconsin Democratic push back and wins was a strong case and point on the threats we face. Now, this issue with Greta Newbauer! Yet, I am finally seeing an opportunity to break through and work towards fair voting maps.

My understanding is that Wisconsin was most influential in the early part of the 1900's when you had people that would say...yes my crap stinks....were all the same let's improve all lives and make fertilizer out of humanities byproduct....

I live in Minnesota and used to think of Wisconsin as having similar values but since Scott Walker have watched Wisconsin go downhill. I am grateful that we have managed to maintain a relatively progressive state government with 2022 bringing Democratic control both houses and all the major state offices. Hopefully someday we will be able to end partisan gerrymandering. Rule by minority is ridiculous.

Republican legislators just voted a on 2 Billion dollar tax cut. Luckily the governor vetoed it.
I hope there was a detailed explanation of why such tax issues, cuts or raises, are proper at any given time. The majority of Americans seem to have missed that Economics class, which should be required passing in High School.
This battle is long and it is hard it’s also not just about this moment, it is about whether we are willing to stand up for democracy is real in this country!

Thank you for sharing. I am a lifelong Wisconsin resident and at age 74 I never thought that our state and our nation could devolve into such a right wing hellscape. Although I have voted Democrat all my life, I am a Marxist socialist at heart and I am very disappointed at the constant movement to the right that the Democratic party has taken since Reagan.

Just subscribed a couple weeks ago, I am a long time listener to Brian Cohen which is how I became aware of your good efforts and work. Please try to get Simon Rosenberg on your show. I first heard him on Midas Touch maybe 3 months prior to the 2022 midterms, and was absolutely blown away at his predictions and election analyses. It is so reassuring to hear voices like Simon's and yours that receive so little coverage from legacy media, which ( like fox) is directed by advertising dollars and an audience that wants to only hear news of their liking. Hearing the naked truth about the political movements in states like Wisconsin and others is vital for our democracy. Great interview today about Wisconsin, so much more information than I've been exposed to.
It's scary to realize how badly the extreme right will go to manipulate the will of the voters. 2 votes in their assembly is all that stands in the way of those who wish to control the political power in the state.
Liberal media is growing, American youth participation in elections is expanding by huge numbers, and I believe a change in the direction of our country is becoming a reality in 2024.
This clearly is an important time for those of us who are old enough to remember a time BEFORE social media, able to utilize the platforms as they are today and still young enough to be open to the waves of the future, yet to be determined. Imagine what our planet would look like had Al Gore not been cheated out of his election. Thank you both for all you do.
And we certainly don't need a repeat of what happened to Gore. For the conservatives, I'm sure there's a "third times the charm" thread that they're not going public with. We need to get the blue vote out in numbers that can roll over their next attempt.

I subscribed a little while ago. After seeing you with Brian. Yet have had nothing in my feed from you. Stumbled on a short you guys made this AM. I'm probably being lazy and should go find you on my own. At the same time you guys should make sure that all the junk is set properly, just in case.
What you do is unbelievably important. I honestly had no idea how screwed up things really were. Going on with Brian was a good move. A lot of folks ( me including) just watch anything he produces.
Anyway if you read these be sure all the settings are good on your end cuz more folks need to hear this.

On my little ( unbelievably) little channel some times one of the 4 or 5 will stop getting anything from me usually due to something I have mistakenly switched. The first few months doing things on CZcams is a kind of learning period. So when something is not right the producer isn't always aware. So letting them know is not me being a jerk. It is me trying to be constructive or helpful. That was the inspiration for the comment. Normally when I first sub to a channel the videos will show up in my feed. Since there's didn't there is a small chance that a setting may be wrong.

Became a resident of WI, in order to vote in a bright red county when I retired in 2019. It was expensive, frustrating but helped Evers win reelection, Trump defeated, and Judge Janet elected. There were huge losses too, particularly Johnson’s and Republican State reps/congress reelections. Left the State end of last year when I couldn’t drink my well water or tolerate the horrible industrial AG smell (open air manure lagoons) and the environmental degradation that the few throw on the mass. WDNR has no power over industrial AG.
Tammy Baldwin up for reelection. 🤞that WI re-elects her.

As one born and educated in Wisconsin, I am thankful that there are people like Greta battling for representative democracy in Wisconsin. I now live in Oregon, but follow with concern right-wing political authoritarian actions in Wisconsin. I am hopeful that the long-view of demographic changes will bring an end to the unfairly gerrymandered maps of Wisconsin and that the people’s will is once again be represented in the composition of Wisconsin’s government.

I protest againt the act 10 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I saw Schmidt in the window of a building watching and sipping his coffee. He was up Walkers but and of know help to all of us that were affected.

I’m in Minnesota and read articles on Wisconsin politics in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. At times I can’t believe what I’m reading. To say the GOP there is bat-shit crazy is an understatement. All I can say is that I think it’s a good thing Ever’s is governor. Hoping the maps change so that a more rational government can be established.
Ever's election as Governor , and Caul's as AG were about the only things that have prevented us (I live in Sconni) from descending into a backward State like some others in this country.

When Milwaukee was down to 5 polling pkaces during covid and they did their best to prevent that democratic judge from being elected. It was so stessful and weird. I shed a tear and so did a lot of other people. Had a wtf is going on with people where we wouldnt have that conversation naturally

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I follow your work, Mark and what you represent gives me hope that we can rise above the flood of dishonest politics that are focused on power rather than honest representation of the people of our nation. I think the example of Wisconsin is important because, In my view, the underlying profound dysfunction of the governing structure of our country is that the majority of the people of this nation are being governed by the minority, due to outdated structures like the electoral college, gerrymandering, limiting access to voting and other power-grabbing schemes that have gone on for decades. On some level, I believe that the Republicans know that if our structures involved a reflection of the honest will of the majority of the people of this nation, they would lose.
How do we as citizens/voters correct these situations in Wisconsin???
