  • Join me as I delve into the extraordinary interior of the Royal Pavilion Brighton, a breath taking palace that marries Oriental architecture with regal European opulence. Located on the south coast of England, this enchanting palace captivates visitors to this day with its unique blend of architectural styles and rich furnishings.
Built as a seaside retreat for King George IV during the early 19th century, the Royal Pavilion stands as a testament to the eccentric taste of the monarch. Inspired by his love for the exotic and his fascination with Indian and Chinese aesthetics, the palace showcases a bold and opulent architectural design unlike any other in Europe.
If you can view this video on a big screen, you will get the best experience and see more of the exquisite details of the interior rooms.

You're very welcome Mark. Thanks for watching and all your comments. It was quite overwhelming on the day. Apparently when it was being built, England was the richest country in the world. .... Not any more :-( Take care ... Dave

@@davesailing I have seen another video touring it, but it wasn't as informative as yours. We don't have palaces in the USA, so I have to tour them through CZcams. :)

I had the somewhat dubious honour of being brought up in a Tudor manor house called Charlton Park in Kent, it was at that time a Kids home but had in the past been the Summer residence of one King George IV. Throughout the house were snippets of its former glory and occupancy, mostly in the form of wall papers and some paintings protected by shutters. Much of that taste and style can be seen in the interior of the Pavillion but in the case of Charlton Park, on not such a grand scale perhaps. Many stories about the homes former resident abounded the most bizzare of which was that he had one day ridden his horse upstairs to the ballroom - yes we had a ballroom, and jumped it out of the large full length window killing the unfortunate animal who was then buried under the sundial in the garden. As kids we believed every word because we were told he was known as Mad King George, as an adult, oh the innocence of youth.

Mike what an amazing story. The guide book for the Royal pavilion hints at some mental disorder which maybe accounts for the wild imagination that thought the whole place up. He was quite a creative genius seemingly unhindered by convention and with substantial funding, able to turn his flights of fancy into physical reality. I love the place, exuberant, colouful and very ornate.
Thanks again for making the effort to comment. I really appreciate it...

A great effort, Dave, makes Chatsworth look a bit low rent. Christina would have made better use of that little pipe organ. Keep sailing and playing that melodeon Captain.. J⛵️

Thanks Jon, it took a while to make it all fit together but it was worth it. It's an amazing place. Keep blowing and sucking 🙂
