  • Legendary bassist and signature artist Nathan East has been playing Yamaha basses for over 40 years.
In this video, Nathan recounts his history with Yamaha, his prized Motion LB bass, and how his Yamaha basses have been integral to his sound as he has performed with some of the world’s biggest artists.
"The Yamaha DNA in what I do goes very deep. I was playing 'Tears in Heaven' in the studio and I always say the song played me, and to have an instrument that would really sing and express that sentiment was very special." - Nathan East.
Nathan is joined by Yamaha Guitar Development Artist Relations Director Ken Dapron, who explains how the relationship with Nathan overlaps with the history of the original US custom shop on Weddington Street in North Hollywood, California.

Nate is a "Monster" bassist. You can hear his fingerprint on everything in the last 35+ years. It's a shame that when great bassists are mentioned, his name doesn't come up first!

Nathan is one of the best bassists with one of the best tones on the planet!!!! More importantly, he's one of the most humble people on the planet!

I own a BB5000A Yamaha since new I bought 1985, sold Fender Jazz as I found the P J and active pickups more versatile plus recording studios love the flat sounding bass

One day, Footloose came on the car radio. It was the first time I noticed how amazing the bass line was. I googled it, and when I saw it was Nathan, I said "figures". Man is legendary!

The 6-string BBNE2 was never been put into general production. Nate had used the prototypes for nearly 2 years.
