I did too. I liked it a lot but it just felt more strange and intimidating compared to this happy-looking version with cheerful music. I never got it on NES, but I probably would have liked it much more.
I just randomly thought about this game and decided to look it up. I had this this years ago and I'm about to be 39 😖 Edit: I still remembered the title music and the character select music
There's something different with this game than the version I've played for the past 25+ years. In my version just to be next to a meanie is instant death. At 7:20 passing under a meanie will kill Digger. Also, at :40 and :55 he would have been killed by falling boulders in my version. At 8:30 - 9:20 the amoeba's would have expanded well beyond any ability to surround them within the 1st 15 seconds. It is imperative to surround them as quickly as possible. In this version 30 seconds are spent collecting diamonds before even attempting to surround the amoebas. Just the same it is interesting to see all the different levels and how they are won. In all the time I've played there are still a couple of levels I've not conquered. It is my most favorite of all video games. Thanks for posting My version is NES Nintedo which looks identical to this version.
@@TheKrowkaBoo This version has smooth motion for the main character. This makes things a lot easier, and lets you slip by enemies that you can't on the atari 8 bit/c64/apple II/pc versions. It also lets you escape death by being partway out for under a falling boulder, which doesn't work at all in the original versions, wher eyo jump instantly from square to square.
Saw this game in a video game magazine and just loved the vibrant colora shown there but never got it. I think I was 15 or 16 when I found a copy in a discount store. Still have it somewhere. I'm 38 now.
Run 1 of 4... There are 3 more levels you haven't played... It's extremely tough and you will need better strategy as the is less room for error. Good luck.
Love this game, it was my first cassette on NES , I thinked it was to har because of the mechanics sometimes required milimetric presicion. PD a new suscriptor here.
I'm watching this amazed and I'm like how tf is he doing this? BTW I love your channel seriously 😁. I know this game is mad old but do you think you can find someone doing a long gameplay of Mario sunshine? if you can't its okay I just love that game
How is this version crap, it has better visuals for the worlds & better characters - the enemy's actually are enemy's and not moving blocks anymore - the game has a good soundtrack now! *(You can have your opinion but dont tell me this version of the game is crap because it clearly isn't)*
I played this together with my Dad 😍when I was young I'm almost 40 now.
😂 me 2 and beat it the one board I hated is trapping the ice so it became diamonds

I played this on my dad's Commodore 64. It's one of my favorite games
I agree :)

Ah the memories 😌
Just the music and sound effects come flooding back.
I must have been 5 or 6 back then.
Rented for nes. This was a lot of Fun to play back then. Ah memories.
My husband and I used to play this game back in the day. We loved it.
Best boulder dash imo loved this game
Sick game loved this when I was a kid

This looks really good graphically for the NES.
This game is not only wonderful, you are an excellent player. Congratulations always for the great gameplays you bring us!
The person who came up with this is a genius 💎💎💎💎💎👨🚒
This is how games should look nowadays
So this is where Rockford and Digging Jim got inspired from.
i got this cartridge in 1993 when i was 7, at that age we had bested most nes titles, but this one remained a favourite and not very easy lol
I haven't been as impressed with NES music but I must say this one has great chiptunes.

anyone care to elaborate?
@@kingprone7846 Maybe Japanese/USA version ?

Yeah in the version I had (and couldn't beat) touching a meanie meant death and boulders falling on you always meant death
1:22 That tune made me sing "MOTORCYCLEMOTORCYCLEMO!" when I was younger

Funny how NES version differs for original: realised in mario-style for sure in time of Mario huge hype.
I still don't get where the 2nd zone is inspired by. Woolly mammoths, Chinese dragons and Roman columns? That's supposed to be Siberia right?
The boulders make me seasick.
Good choice, not talking bout this one much, so thanks for playing one from my game collection in the early 90s
Wait, you don't die when boulders fall on your head? What's the point?
Run 1 of 4...

This game is very challenging like castle quest. No wonder why enjoy zelda more because zelda carries through the years.
Good memories with my brother 😊
Best Game for nes
That miner guy looks good

Supaplex... oh no its the original Boulder Dash :O
Muito bom continue assim
Great music on the map screen. Good version of the game, but I kinda miss the Rockford character sprite...
The magic wall on 4-3 always turns off before I get enough gems. lol. I followed your video exactly. Dunno what I'm doing wrong.
How do you get the gem next to you without moving?

This is not for you to play diamonds on a smartphone from the marketplace
I'm not entirely sure of it, but i think the MSX version was the very first game i played in a home system.
Awesome thanks 👍
Excuse me, does every level in the game look familar to you?
Diamond Rush?
T-mobile sidekick game
supaplex
Yup, Supaplex was a game based on Boulder Dash.
❤Just great
The original C64 game port to NES is the best version as original version, because C64 is the NES/FAMICOM's dad
YES
i played it in MSX
i dont recall this one
Vic Romano and Kenny Blankenship would love to see this.

OMG! The C64-Version looks and plays so much better...
Of course not xD The NES version is obviously the better version of the game!
dude, the Atari 2600 version looks better than the C64 version
Min 38 asi se gana el nivel woo
I remember playing this on C64 and thought that the character you control is a frog
I preferred version on c64
AGREED
It could be better. But nice to watch.
THIS VERSION IS CRAP THE C64 VERSION STILL THE BEST IN MY OPINION

you're smoking some horrible drugs if you think the c64 version is better than the NES version.
