Still have fond memories of the '76 Gordini in this same color that a late uncle once drove. As a kid I begged my parents to let me ride with him & my cousins because I loved the handling & sporty engine sounds. Perhaps most importantly, the car never let him down. Living at that time in a small Arizona town, my uncle regularly drove the Gordini over 50 miles each way to work, & never a stitch of trouble. Definitely one of the most well-engineered & underrated classics ever, IMHO. RIP Uncle Arno 🚗🙏
Bumpers on car when I took delivery were the standard R17 Bumpers from the factory as required by law in the US for ALL R15/R17's in the US and Canada for model years 1974-1979. I have since swapped these bumpers to the European slimmer bumpers and car looks like her European cousins now.
Hi Lisa Thank you!! I’m having a great time slowly working on her with friends. It’s been a great journey so far. I truly appreciate that you found and trusted me. All the best!! Steve
Lisa I never saw this, thank you for letting me the next caretaker. She is living the life and being well taken care of, I cannot believe how time flies and hope you are well. Steve
I remember that to close the doors of this car I had to to give a hard shot to take avoid leaving them open, plus this flaw remained even after ... I think my father told me that the only big problem related to the dashboard of this car it was the fuel gauge which was too little visible ... once time we was remain out of gasoline, in the middle of the night on the highway.... hahaha!... ❤🇮🇹❤
Wow- A like minded person ! I love your Gordinis' I had a brand new 76 the same color as your 75. Loved it. I also had another 76 I had picked up as well in Orange with A/C which was rare. I also love your 73. Those came with 4 wheel disc brakes if I recall correctly and electric windows. Do you have a web site? Or some other way to communicate. I still have all of my original Shop Manuals. For the Gordini, R-12, R-16 and R-10. Thanks for sharing Ron
Hi Ron, Thanks for the nice comments. Our best and longest owned Renault was our 1976 R17 Gordini that looked very similar to my 75. It also had AC as we lived in Miami and it was pretty much a necessity. If trued posting my email address in a way that could be deciphered but not recognized by a bot. Here it is with another attempt, sdiamond59 at g m ai l d o t c o m. I hope you contact me. Steve
Wow, your brown one is the exact car I had in high school - 1978. Where did you get it from? We had two of them, the brown one and a silver one. Loved them. We also had others, one R5, a few R8, one R10 and multiple R16s.
Hi Avidude Sorry for the late reply. I got my car from Quebec. The gent I got him from was wonderful. It took Richard 3 years before he would sell the car. The wait was worth it. Best regards, Steve sdiamond59 At G M A I L D. O. T C. O. M
