  • Exploring Northern Idaho in the Ranger for Halloween!
    Haven't taken the truck out in a while and it was fun to make some new friends up here in the PNW. Haven't been on a group run like this since 2005.
    Was a little nervous about the truck. Wasn't sure she was going to make it but she did great...though I think I need to replace the balljoints, tie rod ends, and possibly the radius arm bushings. I'll get the truck on jacks to inspect.
    DEFINITE needs for next trip: NEW SHOCKS. I'm pretty sure these are still the same shocks that came from the factory. Would also like to correct some excessive toe out on the passenger side. It makes hard breaking a little unpredictable.

      Thanks! I wish I had a rear facing view, too. I've done that on my Xterra. Will remember for next time.

    Glad to hear my ranger isn’t the only one making horrible suspension noises😂 in the same boat, needs new ball joints and tie rod ends as well. Replaced my factory shocks last year and I can say it’s so worth it. Potholes on I-90 used to be so scary in bad shocks😂 love the videos!

      Lol. Ya. I felt safer in the dirt yesterday than on I-90. That freeway is sketchy

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Před 2 lety

      And I hear noisy suspension is supposedly a ibeam/ ttb thing. My A-arm rangers never sounded like that.

      @@rayregnogarage hmm very interesting I wonder why. I have the I-beam suspension as well. Very noisy.

      @@kalebsheridan9017 Ya. I dunno... It's new to me. I feel like the beam setup is more sturdy though. The only thing that gets me is the weird camber change as the suspension cycles. lol

    Cool. did alot of trailblazing in the Sawtooths in a 51 Willys truck back in the 80's. no gopro. no cell phones. but still alot of white knuckle driving. happy trails!

    Sweet vid! You should do a post trip inspection video. Still working on my Expo, the Solo front is installed, got Deaver G50E's and Solo shackles in the back, along with an 8.8 disc swap. Cant wait to get it out on the trail, and dunes!

    I have a ranged a lot like your's and I'm wanting to put some new shocks on it with a 2 inch lift, I am wondering what shocks you are putting on your's

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Před 2 lety

      If you've got an i-beam or TTB ranger, the off-the-shelf lift kits come in 1.5-2" or 4". I have the 1.5" leveling coil so factory length is the only option really. I think Rough Country makes a shock for 2" but I'm not a fan of that brand. I have a pair of these in my shop ready to install. will probably do it later this week: amzn.to/3540IYn

      @@rayregnogarage Why would you choose the xterra over the ranger

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  Před 2 lety +1

      I like them both but it really depends on your needs. As a road trip vehicle I like the Xterra better because it’s more comfortable, puts down better power and feels smoother. It also just feels heavier and more solid. I love the Ranger though. there’s more aftermarket options for it. You can throw whatever you want at it and it keeps going. There’s a reason I have both. haha
