Happy Halloween y'all - Kevin
Thanks for answering my question. Y’all are my favorite channel :D
Also, have you ever considered making different channels based on zone? Like 7-9, 5-6, 1-4?
Please do another hack garden video! have you seen the pomogranet growing one and the banana apple videos...those cant be real!
Happy Halloween Guys. Are you going to change into a different costume tonight?
if your looking for a dog i have boston terrier puppies for sale!!
I thought you like dragon fruit lol
You guys are a joy. Seriously. Poor Kevin giving off neck brace vibes whenever he turns, Jacques hat hanging on for dear life towards the end, the pumpkin lookin like Demeter perched up on that column. 😂 So fun to watch.
Hahaha let's just say they weren't really making costumes like this for men like us probably - tight fit!
I don't dislike other creators, but I watch your videos because I like watching YOU.
Don't ever change 😂
Love you
i 2nd this!
This was such a fun video. Jacques looks like he is wearing a purple onesie but Kevin looks he's wearing armour in corn colors.
My favorite thing about your tomato video where you burried stuff under them was that i really enjoy seeing the ACTUAL results of what these practices suggest even if it is small scale and i feel like videos of those experiments are hard to find because they take so much investment from the video creator but its just really cool to see it when it IS made.
I really enjoyed this one, too.
Oh my stars… the editing on this is ON POINT 😂🎉🎉🎉 The Demeter animation KILLED me 😂😂😂
I cracked up when I saw the final edit 😂
I love the time and dedication taken to make that carved pumpkin one of the best ever seen on camera. The depth of emotion on that pumpkin's face, the things it must have seen, the restraint in expression, and how it still puts on a visibly forced smile. It's a masterpiece of drama encapsulated in a singular moment. Bravo.
Oh, the chickens did that. Nevermind, humans.
LOL... though the chooks abstract work on the back isn't a homage to K & J
It's an auberjaques!
Nothing better than a bowlful of epic Halloween snacks and watching some epic videos!
Appreciate you!
Mosquito Dunks. You can put it in any water. Dogs, chickens, plant trays. They work great. Two years ago we got new ones that breed in 24 hours in a tiny amount of water.
Blessings Jacque and Kevin, we love you guys on Epic Gardening, and have been binged watching on all of your channels. I finally received the Epic Gardening book and can't put it down. The tour of Jacque's father-in-laws property is beyond anyone's dream. Cooking is my wheelhouse, I'm 51 been cooking since I was 7, I am a self taught cook and baker and both of your gardens are a home chef cook's dream come true. The meals I would cook, so many vegetables to dehydrate, preserve, can, stew, stir fry oh my I'm almost jealous of it all. My dream is to one day be as blessed as you polish and master my gardening skills, find the farm land of my dreams and grow up to be just like you one day. God Bless You guys always. I can't wait to see what happens when you guys have little gardeners of your own and pass along all that knowledge. By the way, I would love to see you guys interact with children teaching them from an early age the value of growing your food.
Guys this was amazing. My three little girls consider you guys superstars and lost it at your costumes lol! Outstanding. We really feel part of your expanded web of family. Much love from down under.
Appreciate you
This video is great!! I love how you both support each other in gardening and balance each other out! Jacques, leaving higher ed is a tough decision and I was in the same boat. The confidence you have now is encouraging!! Teaching is such a nuanced thing and it doesn’t always have to live in the formal classroom. You’re a huge inspiration for sure! I love what y’all are doing here!!! Means the world!!
At some point I also came to that realization of the classroom not being tied to a formal setting! I can teach so many more people now than I ever could have in academia!
You guys are the absolute best - your chemistry together is just an incredible vibe. Please don't ever move so far away from each other that you can't do these in-person videos. And kudos to you both on your new carving hobbies! I'm amazed at the skills you both have!
These two bring me so much joy 😂. From gardening to them talking about "Carving" hobbies, nyahaha. I absolutely love their friendship. I'm so glad to learn gardening stuff from them AND knowing that they're in a good place.
Awesome to have a friend to be silly with, whether it’s veggie costumes or a water “fight”!! Adults goofing off with their friends is highly UNDERRATED!
My favorite Jaques vid is the building the chicken coop/run and my favorite Kevin video is the potato planting in random places.
I need to do more build guides!
I've always enjoyed Halloween because tomorrow is my birthday. I like these ama videos. The dressing up and messing around in the garden you two do shows all of us that y'all aren't all full of yourselfs. The formats working. Keep it going.
You two crack me up! The genuine banter showcasing your friendship sucks me in every time! I love it! I’m always learning a lil’ somethin’ when I watch and I appreciate it! Thank you!
Oh, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for making this video, Kevin and Jacques!!!! That you will dress up and answer all these questions and obviously having so much fun doing it, is precisely why i look forward to both of you putting out content! Ive been watching since March 2020, which is the longest I've stuck to one "brand" on CZcams, as I get bored easily, but you provide quality content that is so much fun! Keep enjoying your lives and letting us in for the ride! ❤
We are wood carvers too! Keep going. You guys are off to a great start. Three things that will help right away: 1. Find a local carving group and go to a meeting. It’s free and carvers are usually kind and generous with supplies and suggestions. 2. Ask the carvers you meet to show you how they sharpen their tools. Everyone does it their own way, and it takes a while to find the right fit. But sharp tools make all the difference. 3. Sign and date what you do, then resist going back to “fix” it. It’s great to look back on old carvings and see your progress.
What a team! You guys are such fun. Here’s to continued success, fun, and laughter.
My two favorite gardeners in eggplant and corn costumes is what I live for! I started watching your videos to learn more about gardening but it’s great to have a little peek at your lives off screen. I think one of the first videos I watched was Kevin balancing on an Epic six cell to prove how strong they were. Love you guys!
You two are an absolute delight! Please do more AMA videos, I'm learning a lot and it's very entertaining.
The Kevin - Jacque dynamic is so funny and satisfying. To be completely honest (only because it was brought up in this video), there was a very short period of time when I questioned if y'all two were "together," not that it ever bothered me. I've known for quite a while you aren't, since I watch regularly. The hilariousness of your intros alone is worth the collaboration, let alone all the other value that you can bring as a team. I'm glad you two work together as well as you do.
I actually have SLIGHTY more land than the two of you, from what it sounds like, but farther east they're less accepting of backyard chickens (officially, although I have some extended neighbors with hens and no one seems to care) but quail aren't technically forbidden here and also seem to do well in very small spaces. I would be interested to see more about them, as I'm very seriously considering adding them to my "homestead" in the spring. If any of your affiliated folks keep quail, I'd love to hear more about their experiences. Keep up the excellent work.
It’s a bromance❤❤😂😂😂 they are great together.
Is it cuz Jaque has that gay quality? Lol😅
I recently got a crocheting ring that your working yarn wraps around- it’s been a life saver for my skin (no more yarn rubbing!) and my tension is always consistent! 11/10 would recommend
the spider in the mulch is actually eating all the pillbugs in it also. They are one of the only spiders that can pierce the armor of woodlice/pillbugs
I LOVE the long form videos on epic homestead, although im heavily biased because its my favorite epic channel. Some really good questions too, also the question at 5:11 was really interesting, that commenter must be a cool dude.
Plant lemongrass to get ride of mosquitoes! Hope that helps.
For Jaques wanting an orchard i want to say look into columnar trees! they grow, obviously, column shaped but its a good way to fit ore trees i to your garden space. we are on a small plot, i think like 8,000 sq feet and i have column apple trees, column peach, then dwarf: lemon, lime, orange, pear, and banana. so it is dowble you just have to get really specific varieites
Love the costumes!! Excellent commitment to the garden and the holiday.
You are the first channel I rant into when 2020's pandemic hit and I was set up to work remotely. I began gardening late 2020, early 2021 and I've learned most if not all of the skills from you. My home office is literally outside under my covered patio and large oak tree surrounded by a plethora of edible plants, flowers, and stone fruit trees. You guys are awesome and your videos are one of the little joys in this central Texan's life.
Loved this! My 2 year old son and I watch your videos together and he always says "I'm an epic gardening guy!" when we go out to check our garden. Even if the cooking videos aren't getting the most views (yet) I really enjoy them because I always run into trouble with actually using the stuff I grow in the garden. I'd also love to hear more about this fitness challenge Kevin did!
I don’t have a garden. I watch for the funny interactions. I first discovered Epic gardening with the lockdown self sufficient vegetable growing vid. I love the cooking videos with you two.
That's it. Your next channel. Epic Universe.
P.S., On a side note, I am still endeared with Epic Garden. You and your little garden at your house, prior to your current epic digs, is what got me started to really get into my own little micro epic garden. And, I have a small flock of little epic hens, (Bantams), too.🐔🌽🍆🌻
It's so funny to hear you say you sometimes would love a break from gardening and have an actual winter. I'm the opposite in zone 3/4a... I am longing for a longer growing season. October to March is pretty much a dead zone. I might need a greenhouse one day to help extend things a bit. Love you sharing a more personal side. Thanks guys!
We all want what we don't have!
Thank you for the awesome content you all do! I love your channels and how well you just seem to get along with each other. You all have made my first year of having a garden so much better since I've learned so much. And now I'm eyeing a Birdies raised bed to expand my garden next year. Thank you!
Definitely feel you with your last point, up here in zone 5/6 Ohio it is nice to get a real winter and get a reset on the hobby. Great video guys, thanks for all your hard work
Always nice to see the two of youse together. Happy Halloween!😂❤
This was such a fun episode guys! I have to say I loved how colorful the whole set up was with costumes and the background. I enjoyed the Q&A which made me feel like I was visiting with you both, and laughed along with the silliness. Great stuff!
Such a fun video!!! My favorite was the 'memories' section. You two have a really good rapport! Super!!! 🎉
I suggest Growfully with Jenna! She’s an Ohio gardener, she’s very informative and a great gardener! I really think she would be a great contributor to your guy’s team!
It would be really great to have someone who can cover the winter climates. Ohio’s weather is everywhere all the time. You never know what you’re going to get here.
The vibes on this video 👌
Coming from a zone 7 person, I would love to be in your zone! While I appreciate the break from gardening in the winter, my houseplant collection grows exponentially during the colder months 😂 I have to keep my hands dirty!!
Seeing this video on replay, but you two are just too real! Despite being waay over on the East Coast U.S., I still watch Epic Homestead for those hidden gems ya'll always seem ti impart just when you thought you'd seen it, heard it all. Thanks so much. Always a treat to watch ya'll.
Love the content! I wouldn't mind one or two videos from zone 3 or 4. Us cold zones need a little love too! LOL
😆 the tag has been left on the costume. (31:49)
I really appreciate the journey you have been on Kevin, and now with Jacque. I totally didn't realize how early I got in when I started watching during the pandemic and it's been great to see it. I know Epic Gardening is evolving and I'm excited to see where You go.
You guys are EPIC! So real and so fun. You have a great amount of knowledge and chemistry between the two of you.
Your passion for learning and sharing your knowledge is incredible.
It's an absolute joy to watch you watch you two.
I laugh and I learn about gardening.
Nothing better in life!
I love having a winter gardening break -- time for reading garden books and making (overly LOL) big plans for spring...and spring is extra exciting for gardeners up here in the snowy north
This has got to be my favorite episode thus far! You two are adorable! I want to adopt you both!
This was an awesome video guys, I learned so much about the both of you. The questions were "Epic" and what you added to the stories were profound. Thanks for sharing so much of your lives. Stay Cool and Stay Real Guys!
I've been keeping my cacao tree in a pot for about a year in my old apartment. Just moved into my new house and looking for the best place to put it the groud! Mango tree already platend. Cheers from Brazilian Southeast.
By the way my newest Birdie Raised Garden Bed just arrived, I am so happy and plan on a couple more in future. Thanks for your answers and honest confessions.
As one of those gardeners who experiences the 3-4 months of "frozen" - the break is nice - at first. But as soon as January hits and the warmer areas are ramping it up, it's hard to sit back and not join in. By the time my seeds are germinating for an April planting of brassicas, you guys are moving on to "summer crops". That said - I would LOVE to see what you guys would do with cold frames, winter sowing, and similar. I think it would be .. what is the word? Oh yeah - Epic! 😜
This was one of the most interesting videos I have watched related to gardening. It was so cool to watch the results of this experiment revealed. Great job guys.
i love the pumpkin decore from the chicken
Great show guys you both are a trip.
With acorn squash it's about the maple syrup nutmeg and cinnamon that makes it.
Thanks for the good times.
You guys make an amazing team. Truly enjoy the education and the fun you two have.
The nice thing about being in zones 7-8 is you DO get a Winter break, but it's short. When I was in Z7 from about Nov. 15 to Feb. 1, and only had snow a few times between Dec. 25 and Jan. 10 (spent over 10 years in Z7). Currently I'm in Z8, and loving that I can grow even more stuff than I could in Z7, and still have enough chill hours for fruit trees etc. My growing season is only about a month longer (a couple of weeks at each end), but I can easily grow things that were kinda sketch in Z7 (Pomegranates, Kiwi, Pistachios, etc) because it never gets quite so cold, but it's cold enough - if that makes sense.
2 Pea Brothers...that met together at Epic Garden!🙏💜💚💙
Glad you two decided to provide content! I enjoy it immensely and always have a smile on my face when watching the antics!
You 2 are a team. I love these candid videos..definetly want more cooking. I want a flat grill so bad after watching you both.
Thank you both for all you share with us!!
I have been watching you for this many years. Wow!! Time flies. I'm happy for both of you.😊
you guys crack me up! you two are both hilarious storytellers, on top of smart garden daddies! Keep up the awesome content
I remember last year. I love you two..You've made my day!
Absolutely loving you guys and your content. Thank you for all that you do. You work really hard and it shows! ❤
I absolutely LOVED this video! You two make the perfect team, and you never fail to make me laugh. You don't just share knowledge, you share joy!🤣😂😄
Long videos with you both are the absolute best! 😸 Such a fun episode and by far my favorite thumbnail of all the videos ever made. 😂
This year was the best produce year for all of us here in Ocean Shores, WA. Lettuce was our main problem because of them bolting with our over on and off warm weather. (hot spells).
This was awesome!! I love the costumes. I love how much you both laugh abd have fun. It so great to see in this too serious world we live in!!
Love you guys! Please never lose this friendship. I love the respect and coorperation that you have guys. I want to see you grow old together on the channel😄
I agree, Jacques I really enjoyed the straw video and learned a lot.😊
I so enjoy you two! Cracking up with the Dementer! 😂😂😂
18:30 how are ppl not watching every video that comes out 😅😅😅. Boom it releases and I’m watching it.
When he said “ I don’t think I’d be enjoying it as much as this “ in a corn costume and looked sideways😂
Any video with you two always makes me smile!
You guys are the best. Thank you for all the helpful information and all the laughs, too.
Ha Ha he said roast me, and he is in a corn costume 🤣 😆
You two are hilarious! Helpful too but I think I appreciate the fun more than anything.
And the name for your new cooking/preserving channel? Epicurious!!!
You guys are such a great team! Love watching the comradery.
Idea for a video/ garden project: making your own cooking oil!
You've already made bread from flour you've grown and milled, a thing that seems improbable in a home garden. I have no idea how you'd go about producing oil at home from crops you've grown, but it would definitely be fun to watch you guys figure it out!
P.s. I really enjoyed your cooking together videos, so please do keep making them! Also nice to hear you both found a hobby you can have fun and chill out with, that's awesome 😄
I loveeee these AMA videos! Thanks guys 🎉🎉
Hahha keep the awesome personalities up. I’m starting to treat this as my morning show. Great work as well.
Hey there is a guy on CZcams who is growing tropicals in Arizona where they get freezing Temps and extreme dry heat. He has a nursery and a group of people who also do this. They create micro climate s in their yards. Shamus O leary. Get dwarf Nigerian from weedem and reap. They breed and sale annually.
In the winter you cross country and down hill ski and you don’ t miss the garden! Esp. With a bit of house plant care and micro greens!
Wow, I would 100% agree that the latest tomato video has been one of the best videos in the new gen Epic Garden. As someone with Oaxacan roots, I'd love to see you all grow a years worth of ingredients to put together a mole. You have grown most of the ingredients by now :)
Freaking love y’all! Over in 7b and only recently appreciating that. The heat and the humidity in VA are disgusting some days but the plants really love it 😅
you guys are soulmates ❤
Gardenmates
Live in the mountains of Colorado and have to say I love the winter break.
Costumes are truly epic! Personally I can say I'm very glad that you both do what you do now, and that you chose to share it with us. Happy Halloween!
Kevin! For green papaya I wanted to recommend a few Filipino dish uses you can look up. A picked papaya side condiment for bbq or fried fish called Achara. And also using it in your chicken Tinola soup.
Good team????!!!???
The best dang team!
Absolutely love watching you both.
I don't even bother "googling" any garden questions without searching for an epic video
Love you guys together ❤
Loved this! Throwing this out there: you all might want to check out Camano Island, WA. What you were describing is exactly what it’s like here. It’s not your stereotypical PNW spot weather wise. We’re Zone 8b and in the Olympic Rainshadow so none of the torrential rains or constant drizzle of other PNW locations. When there’s heavy cloud cover 15 minutes over on the “mainland” we’ve usually got fluffy clouds or clear skies out here. No days over 90 degrees F, very few days below 32F so still get the 4 seasons but don’t have to give up 3 months of garden time for winter (I sit out a bit in late December thru late January out of preference but am doing greenhouse things in that timeframe), beach 10 minutes away no matter where you live on the island & no crowds, no ferry needed to get here, and 30 minutes from the famous Christiansen’s Nursery. It is a true gardening paradise here IMO. I lived in the Central Valley, CA for 20 years (and my husband is from San Diego) and then lived in high desert ID zone 5-6a for almost another 20 (couldn’t pay me enough to go back to that zone), with some years in New Mexico and Utah throw in there, and have also spent time in nearly all 50 states and I gotta tell you, this island is where it’s at! 14/10 much recommend. We’ve got 2.5 acres of lovely loamy soil we’re getting ready to build on, I’ve got my second greenhouse in the garage itching to be on that property, and I cannot wait to get growing and expand my homestead. I wish I could share it with the world because it is heaven on earth here and garden lovers Disneyland. I hope one day you guys will get a chance to check out this beautiful island for yourselves!
I love these videos! The vibe is tangible!
What a great personality mix. Love the laughs.
Mr. Eggplant and Mr. Corn. You two are very entertaining while you teach. I'm somewhat like Kevin. I love to garden but I don't always want to do the tried and true. I love experimenting. My little garden is personal, not commercial. I also like to travel and my garden suffers. I love to see your experiments because it saves me time in the what if...
I always enjoy watching both your videos. I ❤️ the costumes . I felt the honesty from the both of you and I can feel that bro moment 💯. Awesome 👌
Zone 8b is pretty great, ngl.
Love you guys. Keep the content coming! Thank you!
