American Beauty Queen was one of my childhood dolls. She was one of the first Barbies I remember being purchased for me that I didn't inherit from my older sister. Mine had a weird factory defect - She had a line of green paint between her upper lip and teeth. There is a European exclusive Barbie that exists that comes with a very similar gown but in pink and silver. I forgot her name.
I've started re-buying my childhood barbies and it's been truly therapeutic. I only have 4 boxed and the others I've bought and restored, and given them back their factory hair. Watching you enjoy Barbie has really cheered me up. Also I LOVE that you have my Friend Andrew's art on your wall and mug. Good taste :)

I find that for rumpled and wrinkled Barbie clothes, a regular hair flatiron that has very low heat settings is just the ticket to get them nice and smooth. I don't bother with steaming and whatnot most of the time, the flatiron is a really quick process and gives me great results. I have a regular one from Target, and it's got a lot of heat settings, and I just keep it on the lowest heat and I always keep it moving. I will sometimes use a knit glove to protect my fingers and I will press really delicate fabrics against one of the plates of the flatiron, again, keeping it moving so it doesn't melt. I also use the flatiron for doll hair as well, the fluffy blonde Kanekalon that these 90s-era dolls use is quite resistant to heat styling, I've even managed to use crimping and curling irons with it. I do also flatiron Saran hair, but it's much more prone to melting. Nylon and acetate hair are hit or miss, I always test them first.
Since barbie hair is petrol based some cheep conditions like Pantene. Also to set curls do boiling water followed by ice water bath before drying with a cool setting hairdryer. This hair also responds well with wig products for cheep poly hair wigs.

As an adult I wanted to go back and buy every single Barbie I remembered from the '80s and early '90s. Have pretty much all of them now. Please tell me where you got those display cases that hold your dolls? Are they Ikea? Or like shop display shelves? Also please can you do an '80s Dynasty/Joan Collins drag look! xx
