    I think they still need to add a few things. Strum tool would be cool, Parameter locks, and a glide function like FLs would be the shit

      @@OKI-the-beep-boop Am I the only one that find Ableton's much easier to use than FL's when it comes to slide? FL require you to use a base note and layered with the glide notes in order for the notes to work, whereas how Ableton does it is similar to using automation and drag the points up/down to the note you want to slide to.

    I'm coming over from FL and their piano roll is just killer. I keep trying to use Ableton's piano roll like FL's and obviously its not working, lol

      In the same boat. I really want like using Ableton but coming from 15 years using FL Studio I'm finding the piano roll exceptionally difficult to get used to. I guess I didn't realize how good FL studio's piano roll was until trying something else. I'm going to continue to try and get used to it, but I have a feeling even if I do switch to Ableton someday I'm going to end up doing all my midi in FL Studio first.

      @@LarryMonteforte I'm curious- what are those things about the FL Studio Piano Roll that you're missing?

    • @LarryMonteforte
      @LarryMonteforte Před rokem +2

      @@George-nx8zu The FL piano roll is just extremely fluid and easy to use and sketch out ideas. Ableton (and other) piano rolls that I have tried feel clunky and slow by comparison. It's been a few months since I was actively trying Ableton, so it's hard to remember specifics, but this is a common comment that FL has the best piano roll out of all the DAWs. I did make an effort to learn the right key combos and shortcuts for Ableton, but it never felt as fast and easy as FL, so for making music that involves a lot of piano roll, I don't know if I could switch over.

      Same. My main thing is how you can lock your keyboard midi to be in key. So the when you play your keyboard, it's playing the notes in that key only

    Just starting ableton after first using Fl and then Logic as my main DAW for many years. Why can't they just add a strum tool? It's amazing that it's not a feature, the arpeggiator is not a reasonable workaround. But great video pointing out all the positives!

      try out serum via the Splice rent method. ableton wavetable is a beast and is just as powerful as serum. serum is a bit more complicated and involves equations and esoteric knobs. but wavetable and analog get the job done.

    I get it, but there's just not as much quick controllability in Ableton, yes you've quickly created a midi clip but it's not really that detailed and to make it detailed you're going to have put a fair amount of effort so it's not as effortless as, say, FL studio's piano roll

    Every single video I see of ableton no one seems to play an instrument. It’s always drag and drop production or entering midi notes which leads me to believe this is not a daw for musicians more clip based producers. I tried to find a video on how to even play a chord progression and have it loop and there is none. Lol. Is it a secret or something lol. I’ll stick with the Cubase the superior daw
