  • Hello everyone, today we will be discussing the disappearance of Michael Larry Madden.
Michael Larry Madden, disappearred August 10th, 1996, Sonora, California
Michael Madden, 20, was a keen outdoorsman and aspiring forest ranger.
Friends arranged to meet him after a camping and fishing trip into the wilderness at Sand Bar Flat on the Stanislaus River near Sonora, California on August 10, 1996.
    Micheal is 6'1" tall
195lbs, brown hair with hazel eyes, and was last thought to be wearing hat and t shirt.
He was with his dog Matilda, which did come back to the campground 4 days later.
no one has seen or heard from Michael since
due to the age of this case, it was very hard to find information.
Hopefully one day Micheal will receive justice ⚖ and the person responsible will be held accountable.
As always, thank you for watching and your support!

Mike's disappearance is yet another one that is just so very, very sad. 💔😱 Missing person cases like these really drive home the point that any one of us can be out there just ejoying life, and then something terrible happens due to (most likely) someone with horrible intentions appearing. Life truly is so unpredictable&fragile....

I was down there at Sandbar flat campground shortly after this incident and seen the missing flyer posters. This is a steep canyon, with swift cold water, and a user unfriendly shore, big bolders and steep drop offs at the waters edge. No swimming or wading in the water going on here for sure. Very sad. BTW I always got a creepy feeling about the place when I was there, but my Ex was an avid brown trout fisherman and so I was there on multiple occasions back around this incident. Thank you for sharing. More actual pictures of that canyon and surroundings would have made a better presentation.

I'd suspect that the lurking man with the handgun has some type of ties to the local sheriff/authorities. There's no way they wouldn't have pursued him to the fullest and more would be publicly known about the outcome of that investigative angle.

Some of us in the Sf Bay area pronounce it two-all-uh-mean. If fact I live on the corner of tuolumne and a side street. I think it's very difficult to pronounce names that we have never heard someone speak before. I am from Hawaii, and you should hear some tourist’s attempts at being polite and try to say things like street names e.g. “Likelike” Hwy. We say Lee-kay-lee-kay. I am sure you can read Like Like Hwy as most do when visiting.

More than likely that guy killed and just got thru stuffing Michael's body in a cave or hole somewhere close. And he was preparing to take the car and other things but Michael's friends showed up. The only reason the guy with the gun in my opinion was standing around them practically guarding them and preventing them from searching for mike. Had to be for a person or persons to get rid of his body. Why else would he have just stood around not doing anything while physically showing his gun. The probability of this scenario to have played out is ludicrous and improbable unless guy with the gun had some involvement in mikes disappearance. Its almost a case that you would presume that the guy with the gun could have had some ties to the local authorities and prevented their investigation into Mikes dissapearence in the correct manner. There is Alot of circumstantial evidence and would have been extremely unlikely to have been coincidentally transpired especially considering the whole wearing mikes boots point. That is if this scenario played out as spoken.

If Joseph was involved, it doesn't make much sense for him to walk over to Mike's friends and wait with them for hours, especially if he had been wearing Mike's boots. I don't think there's necessarily any significance to Joseph getting Mike's name slightly wrong or fidgeting with his gun in what was clearly an awkward situation. I also doubt that Joseph would have had time to murder Mike and dispose of the body and any other evidence, especially given the recently built fire.
I think that Mike left to relieve himself and was then disoriented due to a head injury, or simply unable to find his way back in the dark, and then wandered far enough away from camp so that he wasn't found. His dog later left after he either died or became incapacitated.
If Joseph was involved in Mike's disappearance, the most likely scenario is that an altercation between the two caused Mike to flee and become lost.

Has anyone considered the "friends" are responsible, or know more than they indicate? Here is my reasoning-1. They all meet a guy who is playing with a revolver who says he knows Mikey, with his boots? Same size, revolver, "last person" to witness- to convenient Therefore- I suspect the friends know at least one thing, Mikey if and when found will be missing his boots. Guaranteed-. They might even know where Mikey is, but not his boots......

When much younger I had friends' parents who had barely, sometimes never, having gone INTO NYC for anything bc they grace such a grave fear that one they enter they will be beset upon and killed or held for ransom., don't stop at a red light or that's it, bye bye. I say this bc I find myself saying well WTH is someone going camping for my themselves???? Or like other stories going hiking ALONE? Seems 95% of missing hikers is they go out by themselves or step away saying I'll be right back. Ok, just some thoughts.
