I got my ears pierced the second time last week. The first time I got them done at Claire’s and they got infected. When I went into the tattoo parlor, the piercer greeted me and asked me if I wanted to wait until I got them pierced because I was a little nervous. I waited a few minutes then he called me in. He sat me down and he saw the previous holes from Claire’s. They were close up but were still visible if you looked at them close enough. He asked me if I wanted the same holes pierced. I agreed. He said Claire’s got one ear hole a little bit off center so he was gonna fix that. When I was ready, he put those thongs or something on my ears and marked the hole. He then got a fresh needle and asked if I was really ready. Then he counted from 3. He was as gentle as the guy in this video. I didn’t flinch, cry, or was in lots of pain like at Claire’s. The difference was that I was 9 when I went to Claire’s. They also don’t have the most sterile equipment and hire anyone to pierce ears. When he was done, he gave me free piercing aftercare. It was a great experience there.

You guys do realize everyone has different pain tolerance right?? People told me getting a tattoo on my wrist would hurt really bad and I could pass out, but when I got it, it didn't hurt. My grandma hasn't even gotten a tattoo cuz she's scared of the pain.

For me, getting my nose pierced on the nostril was less painful than getting my earlobes pierced. It could be different for other people, but my exact reaction was “Wait, that was it?!” But when I got my septum pierced, it did sting pretty badly.

I am an Indian. And in India it's normal to get pierced your nose and ears at this age or younger than 12. I got my ears pierced when I was 3 or 4 yrs old and my nose pierced at the age of 10. Because I liked the piercing of nose so got one and it didn't hurt that much 💜

Honestly I think it’s the best thing this parent could have done. If your child wants a piercing, most of the time they’ll find some way to get it with or without you consent. When I was little my mother saw me holding up a pair of her earrings in front of the mirror and offered to take me to get my ears pierced. (She didn’t want to be crazy strict like her own mother, so went the opposite way). I wasn’t even that interested but went along. It was 1967, I was seven years old, and it was done at the doctors office with local anesthetic injections that probably hurt more than the piercing!
I hear you. My 6 yr old sister in 1970 wanted her's done, so to try to scare her out of it my mom got her big sewing needle, black thread, a potato & ice cube. My strong willed little sister took it like a trooper & they're still pierced today! She's 57.

Um in india nose piercing are common at age of literary 1to 90 lol my grandmother got her nose piercing when she was 5 months old cause at that time it was said that kids should haave piercing when they are young cause that time they had soft skin so india you can piercing at any age .

I’m 18 I have 31 piercings did them all myself and have been doing piercings for 8 almost 9 years. That’s impressive that she did so well with it most kids I pierced were 15+ and I’ve had so many broken noses from them punching me from the pain

I wasn't ready to get a piercing but my mother herself persuaded me & took me to get nose and ear piercing..
When I was 9 I got piercing on both of my ears and one piercing on nose, and all of it on the same day and same appointment

I let my daughter and she's 13. She's responsible and proved she could keep it clean. We sat down and discussed all the stuff she wanted and set age limits and the expectations I will have for that age. I can't fault her for wanting stuff done. I have 42 tattoos and 11 piercings. Plus at that age my mom told me no which made me want it more and I went extreme.

My mom was always open to me making a lot of decisions when I became a teen. She lived in a very strict environment and ensured I felt the freedom and safety to express my wants and needs with her bc she never had that.
I agree! I have 4 daughters and I was raised in a VERY STRICT christian home. I couldn't even paint my nails 🤦🏻♀️. I did so much crap bc I was always told NO. I've been super honest with my girls and want them to feel heard and valued for their opinion. I pick and choose my battles. My oldest is 13 and I told her when she is ready to get her nose done what I will expect and the same goes for anything else. When they discover your open to such things they consider it more and think it threw. I got my nose done this summer and now they she has seen that she's decided to wait for a while 😂. I don't just let my kids do whtever but I never shut their ideas or wants down and I discuss with them when I will be willing to allow that to happen. It's something I wish someone would have done for me and maybe I wouldn't have done such dumb crap I would have thought it out more. So way to go mama!!!

Good for her and you mom. My mom took me at 12 to get my tounge pierced and 14 to get my nose and belly button. Of course so many judgements but all my friends were doing it behind their parents back getting infected so she wanted to make sure I did it right. I am now 40 and still have the same tounge piercing!
I got my nostril pierced at 13 and i had it until last year still (I’m 20 now). Took it off because i got a septum and I didn’t like them together but I don’t regret piercing my nostril at all, it was what got me into piercings in the first place. Some parents don’t realize that your early (and late) teenage years are meant to experiment with your self image and try to find things that you feel comfortable with. Yes, it is likely that your child is not going to keep their nose pierced forever, but is it really such a big deal when they can just take it off? It also teaches people how to be responsible and properly take care of these things, and not to be rash or impulsive. (Also fun fact, I started stretching my earlobes right after i got my nose pierced and I still have those, and they ain’t going anywhere any time soon, so there are things that you do for your self image in your teenage years that you actually keep your whole life💃)

Me and my 12 year old self could have never-
I got my nose pierced for Christmas last year. The guy didn't even give me a chance to breathe before he shoved the needle in! It only hurt for a second though, and it's healthy after almost 8 months. I might go back to that guy to get my belly button!
