If this concert has one distinguishing quality it is the lack of distinguished singing. Uncertainty of pitch seems to have been contagious for a number of the soloists, not excluding the "name" (?) performers.
Mezzo soprano Vivica Geneaux, lyric tenor ( who is a bit taxed here in this Verdi) Francesco Demuro and bass Alex Esposito are “A” voices. The rest are B to lower. The soprano who sang Ernani was a total mess her technique off and she sounded like a mezzo really. As far as Kermes I never really consider her anything but the lightest early opera voice. The orchestra was perfect.
