  • Do your pine trees look like children's Christmas drawings? The strategy explained and demonstrated in this video will make drawing any species of pine tree child's-play --- but in a good way! Have a go yourself using the reference photos on the channel community page.

    I believe Australia has few pine trees because they have difficulty growing upside-down.

    One of my old favorites as a teen and 20s was drawing trees and painting trees. Thanks again for the terrific demonstrations. I love how you are doing a variety of subjects.

    This was so helpful. When you demonstrated the top-down view a lightbulb went off in my head.

    I just drew this and added some rocks from your video from yesterday. I could tell a big difference when I look back at the previous attempts at trees. This one has much more depth. A huge improvement already. Thank you, Steve! I am happy today with my progress.

    This is another great lesson! Thank you! I have a request. Can you please include about 30 seconds of real time drawing, so as to give some idea of how much time you actually spend. I know I can probably slow down the playback rate but I just want an idea of how you draw in real time. Thanks again for all your wonderful videos! You really are helping my progress.

    Excellent demo on drawing coniferous trees but only the second one looks like a pine. The other two are likely a fir and spruce.

      I would probably concur (need closeups to be more certain), but they are all in the pinaceae, or pine tree family. :) So technically Stephen is correct in sensu lato.

    In the first 5 minutes of this video my trees have gone from a Christmas tree png that you would find on google to actually looking like a tree 💀💀💀💀 thanks man for making this awesome video

    The trees are spectacular, but they are drawn at such a speed that I can't learn, is that the intention?

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  Před 9 měsíci

      You can adjust the speed of the video using that cog icon on the screen, slowing it up to half speed. If I make the videos twice as long most people won’t watch them. It’s a balance.

    Hello teacher, your tutorials are amazing for the comunity!!! I'have struggled to find tutorials of perspective and detail for artists that avoid superficiality; because I want to learn to draw comic fron analog media... And my question is whether this content can be applied as is to those media? Or does it need to be adapted under certain criteria? Thanks, and greetings form Mexico

      @stephentraversart  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for your kind words. Everything can always be adapted. Be creative with experimenting with ideas you get from my channel and elsewhere. There are no rules here, just using what works well for your art. All the best. 😀

    thought those were spruce in English. I'm swedish and that is what we call Gran and I have translated that to spruce all the time and the tree we call Tall I translated to Pine or Fir. Ooopsie . So I ended up here because i really struggle with Tall (that I've been calling Pine)

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  Před rokem

      I realised I was wrongly using pine as a generic term when I probably wanted conifer. As an Australian I just hope you forgive me for being a bit ignorant of these beautiful types of trees. 😀. I’m better with gum trees.
