  • Dagan checks out the new Epiphone SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry from the Epiphone inspired By Gibson range. All-new for 2020!
Shop the Epiphone SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry: www.pmtonline.co.uk/epiphone-...
In this video, Dagan walks us through the incredible features found within the Epiphone SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry.
This is like taking a step back in time and grabbing a 1961 Gibson SG - however it's a fraction of the cost.
This is an affordable classic electric guitar for players of all levels at beginner prices, inspired by the legendary Gibson SG 1961.
You have a classic dual-cutaway solid-body design, pictured here in a Classic Vintage Cherry finish.
To give you the vintage sound, but with added modern reliability, you have Epiphone ProBucker-2 (Neck) and ProBucker-3 (Bridge) Pickups built-in.
A 60's SlimTaper Mahogany neck provides all the comfort you need whilst the Epiphone Deluxe Vintage machine heads with 18:1 ratio are reliable and responsive.
Please note: all PMT stores are now temporarily closed and this video was filmed before the lockdown. More Information: www.pmtonline.co.uk/blog/2020...

I have it and It’s my no.1 now. I just can’t take my hands of it. I love The way neck feels. Its a slim taper neck and its really the most playable guitar I have, even my Gibson SG with Sideways Vibrola or my Gretsch Electromatic Jet Duo Players Edition are nowhere near this one. Love the neck pickup. It really sings. I wanted to buy the Maestro Vibrola version but when I tried it in my local Gibson store that claw from Maestro Vibrola was just Getting in my way and then I tried this one and then I knew that one is for me. It’s my only guitar without Bigsby or sone kind of tremolo system. Its very light. No neck dives. I just love how light it is. My Gretsch is chambered but its heavy as a church bell.

I had a beautiful 2018 Gibson SG standard is autumn brown and this 61 Epi in vintage cherry. Guess which one stayed? This Epi. For the price, the quality difference wasn’t that huge a difference. The Gibson still had some QC issues, the Epi isn’t perfect but still close. I preferred the sound from the Epi too. The Gibson sounded warmer and milder, but the Epi sounded more crisp and aggressive which I prefer. To make it perfect, I bought vintage style genuine Gibson SG knobs for the Epiphone for a real classic look. Killer sound, killer looks. Sold the Gibson and didn’t look back. I will instead be looking forward to buying a Gibson with p90s to keep the Epi company. The Epi did have one issue, the switch sometimes would cut out the sound, but I opened the back and bent the metal contact tabs on the switch and it makes a better contact now and no more cutting out.

    Gracias...

I ordered mine yesterday and will be delivered later today.
Currently Zzounds/AMS has their exclusive Pelham Blue model on sale; discounted from $499 to $429.95.
I was torn between the white regular (bat wing) Standard with Alnico Classic Pro w/Alnico V pups and the Pelham Blue '61 with Alnico II's.
It was a combination of the sale price and the Alnico II's that snared me here. (I prefer my humbuggerers to be Alnico II, like the Gibson '57 Classic's I installed in my '96 Epi LP Standard. Slash uses A-II's and his tone isn't too bad, is it? 😺)

    • @prometheusvenom7189

The thing with Gibson is their prices and quality control. A lot of their control is so bad that they have cracked necks and just aspects that are unappealing to me like the Ipaul (never letting that one down). It was disgusting. But Epiphone is really putting something that Gibson isn’t understanding and that’s what you see here these are guitars that are going back to what made them interesting in the first place no bizarre ipauls. Just a beautiful piece of rock n roll machinery. You don’t see strats or telas with weird aspects like that and they’re durable and affordable. There’s a video of the poor designs of Gibsons I don’t mean to insult a company but to just considering the flaws and the outrageous price there’s a reason I have a disconnected relationship with Gibson. My Cobain jaguar is just as bad as any other American made guitar there’s hardly a difference between Epiphone and Gibson.

@@thehandydandy bruh whutt??.. trust me, when you're on a live gig doing a solo, like me.. damn, a ligt guitar is a big pain in the ass. It goes all over the place. You try to bend, the whole thing moves... You'll THANK the heft of a Les Paul once you realize how beneficial it is. And even in playing sitting down, I don't get what's uncomfortable about it?..
And in terms of weight as is, yes it would be very unusual at first but after some time, you'll grow to get used to it and it wont feel heavy at all anymore. It's the same thing, going from a heavy guitar to a ligt one. It always takes some adjusting and getting used to. A 5 minute check in the store isn't enough to judge a guitar. You gotta live with the thing to realize its worth.
Take it from me, I play long gigs standing up with a les Paul, damn I have athsma since birth and my back & lungs are weak. But I wouldn't want to use any other guitar other than a Les Paul and SG. You'll get used to it over time and you literally won't feel its heaviness anymore. It'll feel as though you're picking up an ordinary every-day acoustic.

Getting tired of all this epiphone nonsense lately. Stop making it look like a premium item. Sick of epiphones already. Get a job save up and buy a Gibson already

Fuck Gibson. Epiphone made Gibson know your history. Gibsons are cheaply made expensive and not worth anything. Fenders on the other hand, affordable both American and Mexican made durable and overall much more easier to upgrade. Besides Epiphone is owned by Gibson.
