This is exactly the information I’ve been searching for! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate us. I have an ‘82 924 non turbo that I’ve been hunting down wiring issues related to my fuel pump circuit.
Russ, I've been watching this channel for a while . Great videos. These electrical videos are super beneficial for me. Timing is perfect. Im in the middle of resurrecting an 84 thats been sitting for 30 years. The wiring is a mess. Thx for posting this. Its not something you'll find anywhere else.
Thanks for being a part of this journey, I want to build this channel with all of you. I appreciate you watching. If there's anything I can help with, please let me know..
Russ, thanks for a great technical presentation. The policy of wiring the passenger headlamp conductors solid yellow and solid white and the drivers side headlamp conductor as striped yellow/black and white/black is very interesting. As near as I can tell from the Porsche wiring diagrams, this only applies to the headlamps as the conductor insulation colors for other components related as passenger/driver side follow different policies. In your opinion, why would this be? Is this some sort of legacy policy in the European automobile standards, or legacy policy dating back to the beginning of Porsche and/or VW?
I have noticed that even the 60's VW's use that color scheme. There are other things like this that you will see, like the different color tracer stripe for left and right turn signals. Thet may do this because the left and right lighting is fused separately. There are 4 fuses for the headlights for example. The motor is fused separately.
The amount of knowledge here is amazing!!! Great job guys !!!!
Great introduction. Looking forward to part 2 next week!
