- In this video, I explain how to setup the Raspberry Pi Model 4B UART in preparation for a Flutter app that will use serial communications via the UART to communicate from the Pi to another computer system.
Update: how to improve your Raspberry Pi development system performance.
First Step:
Disable hardware acceleration in Chromium. Here is a link with the how-to:
ratticon.com/how-to-fix-slow-...
Second Step:
Disable hardware acceleration in VS Code. The link above has the how-to. I did not see a big change but won't hurt.
Third Optional Step:
Use a Solid-state Drive - I have a link for the one that I use. The micro SDcards are slow and get slower as they degrade over time.
Time Line:
00:00 to 00:43 Intro.
00:44 to 02:22 raspi-config for serial port setup (command line).
02:23 to 02:43 Raspberry Pi Configuration tool from desktop for serial port setup.
02:44 to 03:06 install or verify PuTTY app installation.
03:07 to 04:09 PuTTY setup for UART tests.
04:10 to 04:57 PuTTY system font issue fix.
04:58 to 05:31 double check settings.
05:32 to 05:51 installation of loop back wire.
05:52 to 06:39 run loop back test.

Noise warning at 4:10, otherwise an excellent tutorial!
Hi, thanks for the feedback, working on reducing the volume jars and alert noise.
