  • 18v x 2 Electric Mini Bike runs for the first time! I got my #35 sprocket in the mail, put it on the bike, and test it in the driveway!
    Please click SHOW MORE!
I got my #35 sprocket, installed it, and looped on the chain. I misplaced the clip for the master link, but it was good enough to at least go up and down the driveway. I still need to work on alignment, make a chain cover, and do a bunch of other things. Heck, it doesn't even have brakes yet!
Oh well, I just did this in a few minutes in between trying to get some other work done!
Clips on the 3D prints are Keystone 209 Battery Contacts: amzn.to/3DU0RK8
    3D Print File: www.thingivers...
    36V Motor and Controller: amzn.to/3naioHf
Somebody pointed out to me that there is actually now a commercially made adapter product which is essentially the same as this 3D printed part. They tend to be marketed for upgrading PowerWheels: amzn.to/2Z1Vmu7
A friend of mine 3D printed these for me a few years ago for a different project. At the time, I couldn't find the battery contacts to go with them, so they have just been laying around for a while.
These Ryobi drill batteries are 18V. Two of them in series is 36V, which is perfect for this motor and controller. I can still use the regular chargers for these batteries, and I can still use these batteries stock in any of my tools.

what were the key words that you used to find that sprocket on eBay? I just ordered one by the looks of the picture that had the same key way in the center and the hole was way larger

Did this ever get finished? I’m looking at doing a dual 18v setup to add an auxiliary battery to my electric longboard.
I’d be interested if you have the 3D stl files for connecting the two in series.

I think the chain is rubbing on the frame ? A chain tensioner could help. greetings from Panamá

How bout welding a thick washer over the sprocket, to act as a guide/guard to help keeping the chain on?

    • @BenjaminNelsonX
      @BenjaminNelsonX  Před 2 lety +1

The issue was just that the chain wasn't aligned or tensioned yet.

@@BenjaminNelsonX ahhhh, okay. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond. I have a Baja mb200 mini bike, that I have stripped to convert it to a ebike. Have you heard of the new thin, flexible batteries, that can be incorporated, into the framing of vehicles? You have given me very insightful tutorials, thank you!

No link. It was just a large L-bracket from the hardware store that I drilled extra holes in!

It's too bad you can't put the larger sprocket on the motor and the smaller one on the wheel.
