Hi yes in fact I was just out looking at my trial firewood block in the weekend, some of them (planted in 2016) have got so big I've had to start cutting them down. I will do another walk around video at some point. Have got more interested in growing New Zealand native trees lately but not much of an audience for that online! Cheers
The small red flakes are chaff, the actual seeds are the black dots. You can plant the whole lot together and will be fine, you don't need to pick out the actual seeds.
@@tr33guy but im saving all these pods and theres MILLIONS of the red things [chaff] but no black seeds? why?!?!! from like 3 different species and its mind boggling.. or do some not have black seeds? or is it a hit and miss? why am I running into this?
@@truedatdatdatdat Hi, some gums (ash/stringybark subspecies) have seed and chaff that are more or less indistinguishable so you just sow the whole lot... Do you know what species you have? My advice would be just to sow everything regardless and if lots come up you can thin them out. Generally if the seed pods are set, they will have viable seeds in them.
@@tr33guy hello, I am so ignorant when it comes to species as im just starting & happen to own properties with MANY eucalyptus trees.. but am unsure what specie.. I know one is blue gum for sure I THINK.. but in terms of the seed pods.. one of them is from a Eucalyptus that has green trunks and they turn red & more long oval like leaves.. I know you wont know by that horrible description lol.. but it seems to be ALL chaff, but upon looking at them again I think I can differentiate the seeds from the chaff but they are almost identical to an untrained eye! thank you so much for your videos & replies you helped a lot :]*
I have "baby blue" eucalyptus. Will it develop pods like the ones in the video?
Thank you.
Hi, yes will be very similar as baby blue (E. pulverulenta) is very closely related to e. cinerea shown in the video
So there is no way we. Can tske out the seeds with our own hands.? I have closed seeds already dry out
They are very small. Once dry they will just fall out.
@@tr33guy thank you iwill try to put them into soil .. i shaked the seeds and lots of those tiny things came out
Are you still growing your Eucalyptus ?
Been a while since you updated !

What do you do with the seeds?
Whats the viability rate?
Usually pretty good, but usually you will have so much seed it doesn't matter
can you help me?! are ALL those little red flakes seeds or only the black little dots IN the red debris? please reply.
