- I sometimes forget to close my blinds in the evenings but now I no longer have to worry about that. With the Graywind Smart Zebra Blinds, I have Alexa routines and schedules to take care of everything.
Although the blinds are compatible with Alexa, you cannot open or close using buttons on the app. You can only open or close by voice or by setting up routines and with the Graywind remote of course.
The manual stated to press the button on the motor 4x and then hold 1 time for 3 seconds to pair with Alexa but that didn’t work. What I did was tap the button 5 times, only then will Alexa was able to discover the blinds.
And also, I decided not to use the solar panel because I don’t mind manually charging the motor once every 3-6 months.
My Window Size: 69.5” x 34.5”
Total Cost To Purchase: $316.99
Install Time: Less than 30 Minutes
Fabric Color: White
Blackout Rate: 80%
Slate Height: 3”
Compatible with these Amazon Devices:
• Echo Studio
• Echo 4th Gen

Oh mate, nice video. Also awesome to hear you used your iPhone for the video. Welcome to the team haha!
It was too convenient to shoot with the iPhone, no gimbal necessary and it did great!
Great video as always Matt! And your office is getting better and better everyday!
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video, I really appreciate it!
Beautiful set of blinds Matt! The solar panel is a nice touch too being able to last that long. Definitely office goals brother🤙🏼😁
Thanks Renz! I didn’t install the solar panel though haha. I don’t mind recharging it and I didn’t want the panel to be seen from the outside because this window faces the front of my house.
Amazing video as always Matt! Love your whole office room. The iPhone did such a great job for this video!!
I appreciate you checking out this video Tobi and yeah I was surprised at how well the iPhone performed!
Luv the video. I never thought about smart blinds, but now considering. Thanks for the demo and info about this product.
Hi Terri, thanks for watching! I’ve been wanting something like this for awhile because I would forget to close them sometimes so this was the best solution!
For anyone that is interested in the zebra blinds, just to put into perspective what local hardware box stores are charging, in my house I priced out 8 blinds WITHOUT any battery motors, remotes, or solar panels for $2,100 pre-tax. But great video, makes me super excited for mine to arrive!!
What an Office! Amazing stuff, Matt! 🤘⚡
Thanks for checking this out man!
Love your office Matt!! Amazing video 😍
Thanks Leo!
Great video and even better looking office Matt!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my video Don!
Great vid man! Super great quality for iPhone too
Nice video! Are you able to see out of the blinds well when they are fully open? I want to be able to see outside without raising the blinds.
Appreciate all the details, you answered many of my questions, thank you!
👍
The smart blinds looks great! I agree that it does seem like it takes awhile for it to open and close though. That's not a deal breaker though haha. Great review, Matt!
It seems like a long time but I usually only open it up to about 25% 😄 Thanks for dropping by Lizz!
That is one very clean office
Thanks!
Very helpful video! Thank you so much :)
i ordered your Sayl chair- waiting to receive from HM- hope it will be as comfy as it looks!
Nice! I didn't think the back rest was going to be that comfortable but it is. And I love the minimal design. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
thanks a lot for the video guy !!
hey, great video! I finally got some great Inso for my home set up. Would you ever do a full workspace tour? Everything looks so well planned..
Hi Jeanie, thank you so much for watching my video! My workspace is always changing and I will definitely release an updated video hopefully later this year.
Matt, what shade of white did you order? There is F-white and wool white.
Matt, I found the video very useful and tried to follow with my 5 blinds (2 already installed) your path using an ECHO 4 gen.
Here are my recent discoveries that put some question in the claim made by graywind of compatibility with the listed ECHO devices.
On the echo 4 gen, the discovery process did work with the 4x short +1x long pushes at motor during discovery.
However in contrast with your observation only the command including %# for a blind is understood, all others failed which
was now also by a gw service person confirmed. (Q: why did they not publish this?)
Next unfulfilled promise is the calling on groups does not work yet for me with any command version gw claimed to be
applicable.
Question: have you tried the grouping and voice control with your ECHO?
Very nice Man!
Thanks Jimmy for the continued support!
Dose it have to be plugged in at all times or is the battery rechargeable?
did you get the motor or timing remote?
Clean 🔥
Thanks!
Hello, what a desktop support thanks
The desk organizer is called LIFT from 👉 www.theartifox.com
very nice video !!!
Thank you so much for watching!
interesting blinds, they look kind of cheap, are they decent quality?
I’m having a hard time connecting mine to Alexa. I will try pressing the button 5 times instead of 4 like the manual says. Even if it doesn’t work you get a like due to the great video. Thank you!!
I am also having issues connecting mine to Alexa.
Have you tried moving your Echo closer to the blinds? Also, did you confirm that your Blinds and Echo support ZigBee?
Awesome addition to a prefect office! Video looked great man. Never would have guessed this was shot on iPhone if you didn’t say anything! 😮
Thanks Austin! The iPhone performs amazing when there’s proper lightning 👌
Matt, what remote controller did you order? I couldn't tell from the description. They have RF and ZF remote controllers. Which one is yours?
Found the answer. The ZF is what you have.
@@okyereis What's the difference between two? With RF, do we need any additional device to connect to alexa? If so, which all devices are compatible?
I want something like this for an entryway window that's 15 ft off the floor. I was looking at Yoolax though.
I feel like Yoolax offers the same products but just different branding? Wish I had 15ft windows, that would be awesome!
I'm surprised that the battery is built in and it works with alexa AND it comes with a remote for that price!! SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE IKEA ONE! Btw, amazed that this was iPhone quality. I wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't mention it haha! Must be that lighting power of the 200D!!
Hey Mike, yeah I looked at the Ikea one but I didn't want roller shades so I came across these. Does the Ikea one work with Alexa? That's another reason why I went with these, I wanted it to work with Alexa. And how did you know I got that 200d firing in the background? haha I wanted to provide enough lighting to shoot with the iPhone because I know it'll perform perfectly in a well lit environment. Thanks for dropping by Mike!
@@MattNVZION With the ikea one you gotta get their hub as well, but not sure if it connects to alexa...xD and I know that iphones or phone cameras overall dont work well indoors...so it must be the light! xD
May I asked what tripod you use to record the iPhone footage, couldn’t find it in the description, your room is immaculate and this video is so mesmerizing!!
Hi, I use a variety of tripods including a studio light stand, PeakDesign Tripod and Moman Tabletop Tripod. And thank you so much for watching!
@@MattNVZION no problem & thank you for replying back to me, which one do you recommend?
@@sylens_ What I would do is buy a decent camera tripod off amazon and then buy a metal Phone holder that supports Arca Swiss. If you DM me on IG, I can send you a few links!
@@MattNVZION Thank you, & sure thing I’ll message you on IG
How comfortable is your Herman Miller chair? I've been debating on whether or not to get it.
Hi Justin, the Sayl chair is very comfortable, the seat cushion is firm. Only thing is, the back is very short in height, I don’t mind it but it could affect for your comfort.
@@MattNVZION thank you for your reply
Thinking of purchasing. Did you purchase a valance for your zebra blinds? thanks
I did not but I probably should look for something because it'll most likely look better.
it looks nice without the valance. do you have to take down the whole blinds in order to recharge the motor?
thanks
@@R3Elle Oh no you don't, so there's a small 5-6 in micro usb input cable on the back corner of the top and they include a 7-8ft usb cable with a wall charger. For me to recharge, I had sometime had to add an extension cable because there isn't always an outlet close by. Oh and I installed the solar panel too but I wouldn't suggest getting it. Didn't really work too well for me. I don't mind recharging the blinds when the battery is low. It does last up to 6 months as advertised and some run out of battery faster than others due to usage. I actually replaced my entire home with these blinds. You can check out my Smart Home Tour video, it's at the end.
what are those shelves on the wall?? i love the looks of em
Hi, they are from cb2.com
@@MattNVZION thank you!
Hi Matt I need your help. I went to look for the shades you reviewed using the link you provided but I see they came out with a newer model but don’t know what’s the difference. Do u have a contact or no this info??
Hi there! I know they offer different types of shades but when you say new, are you saying they look similar to the ones I have or no?
How did you connect your shades to Alexa with your brilliant? Mine isn't working 😭
It’s not actually connected directly to Brilliant. I have an Echo Show 2 and 3 that supports zigbee and that’s where the blinds connect to. Brilliant is just allowing me to access Alexa.
im wanting these for my glass sliding door but these seem too slow... can you adjust the speed?
You cannot adjust the speed but they actually offer motorized vertical blinds for glass sliding doors.
What happens if the power goes out? Living California it is something I have to consider with power outages and all…
You can buy battery motorized one and you will find lose power means nothing. If you buy solar panel and that will be better, because of the sunshine, you will never mind about losing power.
How are these blinds holding up? Others have reported issues.
Hi, haven’t had any issues at all and I used them daily with a scheduled routine. Only have to charge them once every few months but everything is working as it should.
@@MattNVZION sick
Is your entire house black and white or just the office?
Just the office but the rest of the house is white black and wood tones
Nice video. Every time you said alexa it activated my echo which was sort of distracting.
lol sorry about that, I did think about that before recording the voiceover.
@@MattNVZION haha.. you evil mastermind
@@MattNVZION if you tough about it, why did you still keeping it??? you know that very likely 99% of your audience will have an Echo device that will get activated. This is not nice, please see any other related channel, all of them will mask the "Alexa" to prevent any undesired activation, this is a sign that you respect your audience. I really liked your video and specially the way you talk, it is so calm and relaxing. I've subscribed to see more contents, still would like to share my humble opinion on what I think is cool or not cool. Have a great day.
What keyboard and cable is that?
I bought it from some random guy off Etsy that made it.
Please turn off the background music when testing sound levels. I couldn’t really tell how loud or quiet that was. I think you did a great job reviewing the blinds except for motor sound level.
I knew I forgot something, thanks for the heads up and for watching!
How long did they take to ship?
Less than 2 weeks.
What monitor is that 🤔
This one is the LG 38” 38WN75C but I have recently upgraded to the 49WL95C-WE
What color this blind white or grey actualyy
It’s white
Any way to integrate them into HomeKit?
Not that I'm aware of as of right now.
Can the blinds be tilted open to let light in without them going up?
They do not tilt but in between each slat, it's a bit transparent. It lets light in but still provides privacy if that makes sense?
@@MattNVZION Thank you!
You’re welcome!
I have zebra shades and i can get the hub to make them wireless.
Which brand are you using are where did you buy them?
Do you still like it after a year?
Still loving it, haven't had any issues at all, no disconnection or anything.
What vaccine is that? What is that Alexa light switch panel?
Would you stop calling alexa in your videos, that triggered my own alexa
hahaha
