i know nothing about the manga, i've only watched the anime episodes that have been released so far, but with kanata in mfg, i hope it goes from organized racing to "holy crap kanata's behind me already, im dead if i dont go 110%". just imagine how cool that'd be, while they push themselves to the limit tryina stop the 86 from passing them, and only then the eurobeats go wild. idk, just me saying dumb stuff

This was highlighted when the german blonde dude and kanata was helping each other, they took out ishigami midway on a jump which was totally unexpected and freaking dangerous.

For one, it was made by the same person as Initial D and takes place in the same world/ is a sequel. But there is no eurobeat playing in that part. (it's just an edit)
With those songs it even looks better! Anyway, I still prefer initial D by a million, but MFG isn't bad, I'll still watch the second season anyway haha.

I don't know why, but i feel like MFG's animation is empty.... Not bad or shit, but empty. Like look at initial D 4th-5th stage and the Wangan Midnight anime. I can't really discribe it, so just compare them
I thought the same thing. I watched MFG's because I'm a fan of Initial D, but it doesn't compare u_u especially to the first seasons of initial d... but hey, it's not that it's bad either hehe
I will say that it might be because it is a "different form of racing". We are used to the street races where cars would be toe to toe trying to win a race. In those races, there would only be two cars racing, and on very rare occasions three where there is a spectator. MF Ghost is different since it had to transfer to competitive racing, so it had to either use a new style of the races, or they are trying a style for this new generation of initial d. Don't get me wrong though, it isn't a great as some of the other racing shows, especially since initial d stage 4 is my favorite for animation/cgi races. But I feel it can stand on it's own and have some qualities to it better than the recent stages/racing shows ( especially the terrible plot device and racing element "fujiwara and takahashi zone."

But after engine swap the 86 became pretty competitive on straights as well. In some episodes he actually had an advantage in hp, like his race against Cappuccino. But in MF Ghost I don't understand at all how GT86 can give any fight to the cars his opponents use. The first track is mostly wide, lots of long straights and high speed corners, except for the small town, where the streets are somewhat narrow. Even if the main hero is a genius of all geniuses taught by another genius of all geniuses, the advantage of pure power, modern race suspensions and tires is still there. If MFG is the most popular race series that has one of the best pilots, there is no way top 15 drivers are gonna be so bad that GR86 will be able to overtake a Porsche.
I would forever hate initial D for popularizing Eurobeat, is not a bad music genre, but the Initial D community using it on everything just became so annoying and I'm just tired of it.
