@Lord Greylancer he said it was legacy legal and thus it is completely allowed on tournaments - just using it as a Turing machine might take a bit too long and judges may accuse you of slow play and kick you out.
Did anyone else notice the life graphic has Sean playing a White/Black deck as opposed to the White/Red deck he's actually playing?
Yup, I noticed that right away.
The wheel does have white and red where Sean landed, it’s just very hard to tell. You can compare it to the red/red next to it and see that it matches
It’s clearest at 2:14, and you can also see that the skull seen in black isn’t there, but red’s symbol is
Not on the wheel. When either Sean or Kyle lose life, a graphic comes up with the current life totals and the decks each player is running. At 4:52, the circle next to Kyle's life total shows the tri-color deck he's running. Next to Sean's is a White/Black circle, despite Sean playing a Red/White deck.

Ooh! Day[9]! Day[9]! At GenCon I was LITERALLY the first person to sit down to learn how to play Magic The Gathering at the Wizards of the Coast Learn to Play booth and it was ONLY because I've been watching you on this show. I did NOT pick blue! (I hadn't tried to play before because I'm a 54-year-old mom and I was intimidated by young people playing at gaming stores.) I picked a white deck(and totally owned a youngster playing black). Anyway, thanks for the inspiration; it was TOTALLY fun and I wouldn't have tried it without you. Keep fighting the good fight to spread gaming and gamification! Love you, kiddo!
us youngsters are quite accommodating i assure you, especially us who play Card Games like Magic: The Gathering. Try your local game store from time to time, you won't regret it.
I personally run a Blue/Red/Izzet deck, but don’t have many people to play against anymore.

are we talking individual or collective power? yawgmoth pretty much had an army and (if i remember correctly) lead phyrexia. but nicol bolas is a really powerful planeswalker that pretty much overtook a whole plane to make loyal, planeswalker killing minions.

Still a very basic deck, unfortunately. They have a theme, but no real combos.
Sean has played on the Pro Tour. Hours played does not necessarily mean more experienced.

Commander is the best! Would definitely watch an episode of Commander! The games can go pretty long, but that's where video editing can come in handy!
Check out the command zone here on CZcams. They do a series called game knights in which most of the games are commander. Kyle is in the latest episode and Day9 was on a month or two ago
My buddies and I exclusively play commander if we decide to play magic. We don't play very often, but when we do, it's several or so hours of politics, deals, and backstabs. We played yesterday after a d&d game got cut short. My friend was playing my other friend's "super friend's deck" with planeswalkers up his ass an Jodah as the commander. We accidentally left him alone for too long got dumpstered
Oof, in response to Heroic Reinforcements Kyle should have shocked the falcon and left the grounders where he could block.
It was a 2/3, so shock wouldn't have done anything, because its obviously only 2 damage vs 3 toughness
Arthur Miller it's a 1/2. It is a 2/3 only after Heroic Reinforcements resolves. As soon as Sean casted it Kyle should have, in response, shocked it to death.

This brings so many memories back. I spent my 11th & 12th grade years playing the hell out of Magic. I started watching this hoping I could get my son into Magic and ended up remembering so many glorious moments with forgotten friends.
Can't lie, I'm a little sad that the musical sting isn't there anymore for when Sean points at the wheel of fate and the light shines on it :-(

What a fun episode! It was great to see two seasoned veterans explore new decks and face off in such a fast and furious game. Some great strategy notes, particularly the saving of the Trumpet Blast to a moment of tapped mana when there can be no counter spell. It's so tempting when you see danger looming to just throw the big damage, but this really showed how well patience can pay off.

Think this was one of my favorite episodes. The knowledge and intensity of both players was so close I could feel the shock spells from across the screen. I demand a REMATCH. Well played boyos..
I just started learning this game about a week ago. I know this video is from last year, but I got excited from watching the match. (Watching others play games never does that to me! Until now, apparently.)

I doubt it, commander is much more fun with 4+ players, and that doesn't suit this show format well. It would be interesting though.

I wonder how the game would have went if Sean have simply attack after the second goblin instigator came on field. If he did swing in and pretend he made a mistake, Kyle would have block the 2/3 with his wall, the flyer with his flyer and the 1/1 token with Nicol Bolas. Meaning Nicol Bolas would have taken at least 1 dmg allowing lightning strike (instant spell) to take him out effectively denying Kyle any chance of winning.

Hair dude. You should had shock the bird on the stack....when he played heroic reinforcements. You could of took the flyer out instead of the goblin. I felt like. g1
That would not have taken the bird out because heroic reinforcements made it 2/3 it was not 1/2 anymore and shock only does 2 damage.
@@vz-v but with the way the stack works the shock would have gone off first, killing the flier, then resolving the heroic reinforcements
He had already flipped them and and was going for the attack, should the shock not have been used before he tapped and attacked because it sounds like that was one step too late and the reinforcements had already gone off. I could see if he had stopped him before he flipped/tapped and and as soon as the reinforcements came in, do you see what I'm saying? It was already a step past. This is what I'm seeing.
Finally someone that taps the _right_ way. Day[9] and his friends always tap against the tap symbol... And it bothers me more than it should.

This, so much this. Tapping is clockwise, untapping is counter-clockwise. Just look at the symbols for them!
