For a teacher not knowing basic history should be fired. What a shame

Not that I agree with the teacher's decision but lets also not forget that the flag was used by Jerad and Amanda Miller, the perpetrators of the 2014 Las Vegas shootings who killed two police officers and a civilian. The Millers reportedly placed the Gadsden Flag on the corpse of one of the officers they killed.

There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE when a teacher says my kids, it means their STUDENTS. When parents say my kids they mean their CHILDREN!! We make decisions for our children until they are 18 and in some cases beyond.

I’ve had the Gadsden flag flying from my house for the past two years. Since it was, basically, one of the first symbols of America’s battle for independence from Great Britain, and was flown on the flag ship of the young American navy, we display it proudly. While the doj and fbi may consider the flag a symbol of American terrorism, we consider it a symbol of patriotism. All that said, the idiotic “teacher” who claimed the flag had origins is slavery should never be allowed in a classroom again. Get your kids out of the public school system before it’s too late.
At no time in the conversation the teacher provided any historical proof that supported her or the school districts argument. it was more like a (because we said so) moment, and It sounds like the entire staff is to stupid to teach anyone anything.

As a Navy veteran, I learned about the Don’t Thread on Me flag when it used to be flown on the Union Jack on the most senior ship moored on the waterfront when I was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the 90s.
