This is the only time in 15 years working in Antarctica that we have had so much ice on our boat. It was very early season and still quite cold with a lot of sea ice extent.

I can tell you, after living on a boat from '79-'89, not a lot can prepare you for boat living. I was 5-15 years old. However, sailing that boat to Antarctica? *unbelievable*

Amazing trip, great photos! Furling those ice covered headsails must have been a major undertaking? A bit scary to see the sheets made fast to the spar with ice.

Why did you allow ice to accumulate as much as you did? I would have thought that risen CG would make the boat more vulnerable?

You know Hal...this Music was paletable. I think the author selected a great piece. I have never seen such amazing pics. I just wanted to hear the ice cracking, the water etc. I watch a lot of sailing videos. Sometimes I have to turn off the music because it is annoying. SV Delos ( watch all 250 video) has some good music but also a LOT of natural sounds. You almost get seasick watching them go through a 50 knot storm off Madagaska. I think it is Ep 93 or 95.

Wow! Loved the video, kind of like the quite, it gives a great, almost religious atmosphere on the other hand it is a pity that there aren't any commentary to explain what we see... It's my life dream to do a crossing to Antarctica, but mine will be from South Africa... Long in the future... Thanks again.

thanks for sharing. The Antarctic had more ice this season than ever before in recorded history. I thought the polar ice caps were shrinking and our coastal cities were going to be flooded. So much for the hoax of global warming/climate change... or whatever they are calling it today.
