Will be in Pattaya at the end of the year for a few months. Can you rent a scooter with a regular driver's license or is a motorcycle endorsement required?
Some places will allow you to rent the scooter without asking to see your license. But if you get stopped by Thai traffic police, they will ask to see an international license with motorcycle endorsement or a Thai motorcycle license.

Hello buddy, always look forward to your vlogs. A laid back approach to the lovely reality of the place. Quick question, how are you getting on with motorbike? Watched lots of reviews comparing adv & xadv, I’m 6’2” and wonder if the 350 will give me enough room. How does your friend feel on your bike? He’s a big fella 💪🏼😃
I love my ADV 160. It's great for zipping around town, has ample storage, gets great gas mileage (full tank of 95 octane costs me between 280 and 300 baht and lasts for a week) and handles well at low speeds when maneuvering through traffic. I tend to baby it a bit, so when I take longer trips, my cruising speed is around 80kmph. I have to admit, though, there have been a few occasions where I did wish I had the extra power of the 350. But all in all, it's been an absolutely fantastic bike.
The factory seat has a bit of a hump in it, so if you scoot back too far, it becomes uncomfortable. It's not a problem for me since I'm only 5'7. Aaron is 6'4. He took his bike to a shop and had them add foam to his seat to make it flat on the top. This allows him to scoot back much further and stretch out. He says it made a huge difference. As far as power goes, his sentiments seem to be on par with mine.
If you are going to spend a large period of time on motorbike trips, or if you want to ride with some of the groups here, I would would say you might want to consider the adv 350 or xadv 750. If the bulk of your time is going to be around town, the adv 160 is plenty.
