  • Are you looking for an easy way to get your cat to take liquid medicine? Look no further! In this video, we'll show you how to get your cat to take liquid medicine without a struggle. We'll provide step-by-step instructions on how to do it safely, and quickly. Learn how to make it easier for both you and your cat when it comes to administering liquid medicine. Get your cat to take liquid medicine with our tips and tricks!
Here's the step-by-step of what I called the "kitty burrito":
    1. READY Make sure you have your liquid medication ready to administer and a towel to make the "kitty burrito". It would be helpful if you have an assistant to hand it to you, but not necessary.
    2. PLACE the cat 6-8 inches from the front of a blanket or towel in a laying down sphinx position. Leave enough of the towel on either side so that you can wrap over the cat.
    3. GATHER the towel snugly around the cat's neck by lifting up the front and wrapping the towel around to meet behind their neck. Make sure that the towel is just snug enough so that they cannot escape or get their feet out of the front end. You may need to hold the scruff while doing this until you have them snuggly inside the towel.
    4. WRAP each side of the towel snugly over the cat.
    5. TUCK the back of the towel under the cat.
    6. "C" with your hand and hold from behind the neck with your thumb on one side and the index finger under the jaw on either side.
    7. TIP the head back and upper jaw up and the lower jaw should open slightly.
    8. ADMINISTER the liquid medication or supplement from the commissure of the lips. Make sure to do so gradually, especially if using more than a few cc's of liquid.

This is so much more realistic than other videos. Vet videos use the most docile cats to demonstrate. You're right, it can ruin the relationship if they have a traumatic time. I'm so lucky that my cat is starting to realize that I'm trying to help him (after a dramatic display of defiance every day) ❤ Thank you!

The best instructional video on serving up a dose of liquid meds by far!!! Thank you for the stress removal award winning, life saving burrito trap door method as it was taking both my son & I to give her a dose & damn near getting mauled by teeth & claws from a very smart older dominate female cat!!! Thank you!!!

"not cooperative" she let you wrap the towel around her without putting up a fight.
My cat literally goes into berserker mode the MOMENT the towel drops on fur :(

As soon as the towel comes out,the cat is triggered and runs for the hills.
Same with the carrier-which is actually kept in the mudroom where the litter boxes are and where they eat and hang out. I thought that would make them less fearful of it. It doesn’t. I don’t know how they know, but they KNOW when someone is going to the vet-no matter how non-chalant I act. I wish they had traveling vets that would come to my house. I know they do for farm animals, but with 7 cats & a dog I’d be willing to pay extra for a housecall. I live in a somewhat rural area and my vet is @ 40 minutes each way.

My cat is half-coyote. He learns things the first time, and the next time, forget it. In addition, he'd work his way out of the towel, and run away. I'm by myself. Therefore, I have no one to help me. I'm trying to give him some liquid medicine, and he gets on his side, and scratches me. So far, I don't see a video that addresses this. Surely, I'm not the only one.

I'm so sorry about your situation. Hopefully your veterinarian can help you with options to administer medication. You can see if they can compound it with flavoring or a transdermal route.

You should see if one of your neighbors (preferably an animal lover) will give you a hand. I am helping one of my neighbors with this right now, which is why I am here looking for advice. I'm sorry you have to shoulder this on your own, I know how difficult that can be.

if it's pills, put them in a soft treat. i just bought cat treats that have some cream in the center that you can push out with the pill and cover back up. but in terms of liquid, well, dunno what to tell ya, other than this video seems to be the safest way!

Interesting video. Those gel caps look huge! No way I could get my cat to eat them. In fact I'm watching videos like this because he fights tooth and nail any attempt to give him any liquid medication. I know the "shooting it down their throat" is supposed to be a choking hazard but it's the only way with this cat, and that's with TWO people. I'm really struggling to find a way to give him meds. He just squirms his head around any time he even sees a syringe.

  • @kamakirinoko

This is a NIGHTMARE. I could NEVER get my cat into a towel like that-he's big, and strong, and he'd be struggling the moment the first fold came over him. *Sigh* . . . I just do NOT know what I would do if I had to give him medication every single day . . . a local service charges THIRTY DOLLARS A VISIT just to come give a cat a pill.
    I'm doomed.
