I was so glad you didn't eat those mushrooms. With wild mushrooms when in doubt throw it out is a good motto. Chanterelles don't have gills and don't grow on wood. They are usually found under the drip line around the edges of oak trees usually partially buried under some oak leaves. When it comes to wild mushrooms it may be a good idea to go out with someone who knows them well enough to show you the ropes. Love your videos. Stay safe and happy fishing!
They are also very seasonal, Fall usually and the man is correct, they have toxic look-alikes. Death by the accidental ingestion of poisonous mushrooms is pretty gruesome, i.e. galerina marginata, which grows on wood and looks very similar to what you handled. Always go with a well versed, local and vertical mushroom hunter as books, internet websites and other visual references do not convey all the stages of mushroom's life cycle, or how they can change shape and appearance when exposed to midday sun, etc.

FYI-Baby fawns lay in the grass while the mother forages. their spots help them blend in. You're lucky he didn't cry for mama, they can attack. You shouldn't have approached him. Lol. For future reference.
The fawn was totally fine, he was shaking cause some big scary human got too close 😂 and he's probably only a few weeks old so his legs are still a little wobbly. He's ok!
they also go into water when they're sick, so my first guess was that the mother abandoned him in the creek and left him out of fear of catching the disease herself.

The muchroom is not chanterelle. They are more yellow and grows on the ground. At least here in Sweden. Come for a visit to Sweden and I can show you some different kind of muchrooms and fish some nice places.
I'm pretty sure you're right I think the mushroom in the video is called a jack o'lantern it's like a chanterelle doop but it grows out of wood instead of soil and there not good for eating

Hey, I just want to say thank you so much for making these videos. I went fishing for the first time on Wednesday and managed to catch a fish with my dad and siblings. I only caught one and in total we caught 7, we released them as we caught them. It was a lot of fun and I would’ve done a lot worse if I hadn’t found your channel

Reason why its alone in a bush is to hide from predators, the mom leaves it so it hides better, but since we're humans we see it alot better than a pred.
Also...the male deer don't stick around lol..
